RUSH: Dadelut dadelut dadelut dadelut, just to show you how absurd this is getting. (Playing of global warming theme song.) Crazy World of Arthur Brown and the wicked witch of the wherever, and I’m melting. That’s our global warming update theme, one of three in the rotation, my favorite. We play it more often than the others. This update comes from Australia, and it reminds me that we also had news from Australia yesterday. They’re going to enforce a nationwide ban on normal, regular, good old tried and true Thomas Edison lightbulbs by 2012. Everybody is going to have to use these compact fluorescent lightbulbs. I’ve never seen one of these. Have you seen one of these? Swirly round things? Can you put ’em in lamps? Well, I’m never going to put ’em in. That’s the way I deal with this. To hell with it. Everybody else can fall prey to these myths. I will remain independent.
From Australia, (story) ?Global warming will take a toll on children’s health, according to a new report showing hospital admissions for fever soar as days get hotter. The new study found that temperature rises had a significant impact on the number of pre-schoolers presenting to emergency departments for fever and gastroenteritis. The two-year study at a major children’s hospital showed that for every five-degree rise in temperature two more children under six years old were admitted with fever to that hospital. The University of Sydney research is the first to make a solid link between climate changes and childhood illness.? Now, come on, folks, please, don’t fall into this trap! Don’t be seduced. This is absolutely absurd. ??And now global warming is becoming more apparent, it is highly likely an increasing number of young children will be turning up at hospital departments with these kinds of common illnesses,? said researcher Lawrence Lam, a pediatrics specialist.? How stupid do they think we are?
Brian, have you turned up the compression in there? Every time I stop talking I hear everything sucking up. I hear the room noise getting louder. Did the BBC plant something? I did an interview with the BBC 4 yesterday afternoon about my hearing loss, which led to an interrogation on the Michael J. Fox incident and the Christopher Reeve scenario. I aced it, don’t sweat it Snerdley, I aced it. We taped the whole thing. I’m not going to call it deception, because I was prepared. How can I be deceived when I wasn’t deceived? I knew what was going to happen. That’s not what they told me they were going to talk about, but I know what’s going to happen in these things, so I was not deceived. They might have tried to deceive me, but I was not deceived.
