RUSH: Everybody is going on and on and on about Mrs. Clinton, surprised that she is a liar. I said yesterday, "Why should this surprise anybody? The Clintons lie." It isn't that we know she lies, but don't all liberals lie? Not necessarily in their personal lives, but liberalism is an ideology built on lies. It doesn't work, it cannot work, and yet liberalism requires the making of false promises and the breaking of promises, so all liberal politicians lie because liberalism is a lie. Now, the story about Mrs. Clinton was that she was nabbed by the Drive-By Media, and CBS is back at it again. Last night, Sharyl Attkisson, here's a montage of her report on the CBS Evening News last night. By the way, Katie Couric off. Harry Smith was substitute anchor last night.
ATTKISSON: CBS News has found several times in the past few months when Senator Clinton used the Bosnia trip to try to show her international experience. December in Iowa, then in February, and last week. After CBS News video showed what really happened when she landed and greeted officials, Senator Clinton maintained there were risks but explained to the Philadelphia Daily News why she was seen on the Bosnian tarmac greeting a young child if it was really so dangerous.
HILLARY: I was also told that the greeting ceremony had been moved away from the tarmac but that there was this eight-year-old girl, and I said, I have -- I can't -- I can't rush by her, I've got to at least greet her. So I greeted her, I took her stuff, and I left. Now, that's my memory of it.
ATTKISSON: Once again, her memory doesn't match our videotape. She and her daughter Chelsea lingered on the tarmac to greet US military officials, took photos. There was group of seventh graders on the tarmac, too. And then Senator Clinton walked to the armored vehicle where she did eventually duck and enter.
RUSH: And then there was this damning Q&A after Sharyl Attkisson's report. Still, it's amazing here that CBS has had this footage for, what, 1996, 12 years, they've had this footage for 12 years and only recently discovered it after everybody else did. But nevertheless, you gotta give credit where credit is due. Harry Smith says to Sharyl Attkisson, "In the end, doesn't this really come down to a matter of can you trust what Hillary says?"
ATTKISSON: I think so. I think that one reason political observers think this is important is because Hillary Clinton has of course made experience her issue in this campaign, saying she's the one who's best suited to answer that three-in-the-morning phone call.
RUSH: Well, they're still trying to soft sell this in their Q&A there. But regardless, they have reported it. Mrs. Clinton's unfazed by this. Operation Chaos is working. She has said she's going to stay in this for three more months. There's nothing that's going to get 'em out of this. Rasmussen has a poll. This is just hilarious. Twenty-two percent of Democrats want one or the other of them to drop out, 22% want Hillary to drop out, 22% want Obama to drop out. I'll guarantee you the grand pooh-bahs of the Democrat Party never, ever envisioned any of this when they put together their primary schedule and when they were planning on Mrs. Clinton being coronated. It's why I repeatedly tell people anything is possible in politics and in life. You have no clue what's going to happen; nobody can predict the future, and this is almost like karma coming back to bite these people because they were so confident, they were already moved into the White House, as a party. It was over. All of this was just a formality and that kind of arrogance and condescension always comes back to bite you.
But let's put a fine point on this about what Hillary did. She lied about sniper fire. She lied. So what? She lies when she talks about national health care and how that will work. She lies when she talks about fixing the so-called mortgage crisis. She lies when she talks about fixing energy prices. Obama lies, too. Liberalism is built on lies, and more than lying about sniper fire, these are lies that directly affect each of us. These are lies that directly harm our society. Lying about health care, lying about all these other policy things that they're going to fix -- which they never do, they only make worse. These are the lies that are largely ignored by the media, by the way. They're happy to harp on this sniper fire lie, but they never harp on the true damaging lies of liberalism. Of course they wouldn't because they're libs as well. But the McCain campaign ignores all of this as well. The RNC ignores all of this as well. We have so-called conservatives who are putting out columns and books claiming to advance a new conservatism, which embraces, in part, these lies: that we need government involved in this program or that aspect of life, we need an active executive under conservative control, in order to improve the lives of ordinary people. These are pseudo-conservatives writing this stuff now, embracing these lies.
They embrace these lies because they don't challenge 'em. They simply seek to remake them. It's what I was talking about last week about I'm getting fed up with our side constantly accepting the premises advanced by the left. The left says, "We've got a health care crisis and we need national health care." And rather than the Republicans refute the whole premise of socialized medicine, they offer their counter program, which has got ostensibly some elements of conservatism in it, but we still end up debating all these things on the premise of liberalism, the premises, and they are lies. We know, it's an historical fact, liberalism does not work. So our side is seeking to redefine conservatism in a way that not only accepts these lies, but partially advances them. Now, if you believe like I do, folks, that national health care would be a disaster for patients, doctors, nurses, and society generally, given that the government cannot properly manage these kinds of things, then to argue as some on our side are, that we conservatives need to find ways to accept some form of national health care, rejects real conservative principles and accepts in part liberal lies. Mrs. Clinton lies. Yeah, but there are much bigger lies than this sniper fire stuff.
Now, I'm not trying to diminish that. I know that there are people around the world in the armed forces wearing the uniform of the United States of America who are fit to be tied and angry over this sniper fire lie. The reason for it is it makes them look irresponsible. No responsible military unit, commander, enlisted personnel would dare take the first lady of the United States off an airplane when snipers were firing. It wouldn't happen! And they are livid that this is being said about them. Mrs. Clinton has no context, she has no idea of the reach and the impact of her lies, because, to her, it's all about her. She thinks that enough people will believe the lies and see her as courageous, that it doesn't matter what broadcast networks or the New Media happen to say about it. But the real big lies, folks, are the policy lies that liberals believe in and advance, the lies that they tell about themselves in order to keep people from understanding exactly who they are, those are the lies the Drive-By Media never explores. Those are the lies that many on the Republican side don't bother to get involved with because they don't want to be dishonorable, don't want to get into confrontations. So we do it here. But don't let any of this, ladies and gentlemen, dissuade you from continuing to be a foot soldier in Operation Chaos. It should be no news to you that Mrs. Clinton lies. So, when it comes time for you to vote in the Democrat primary in your state down the road, do not let any of this dissuade you. Remember the purpose of Operation Chaos. Remember your mission.
