Last Sunday, Saudi Arabia's Human Rights Commission (which is a joke) condemned the practice of young girls getting married in the Kingdom. That prompted Saudi Arabia's most senior cleric, Sheik Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh (Skyhook), to issue a pronouncement. Sheik Sheikh declared: "It is wrong to say it's not permitted to marry off girls who are 15 and younger. A female who is 10 or 12 is marriageable and those who think she's too young are wrong and are being unfair to her."
You heard right, folks: If you think 10- or 12-year-olds girls are too young to marry, you're being "unfair" to them.
Closer to home: California. Marcelino de Jesus Martinez (Skyhook) has been arrested for marrying off his 14-year-old daughter to a neighbor, in exchange for 100 cases of beer, several cases of meat, and $16,000. Police learned about the "exchange" when Mr. Martinez-- who's visiting our country without proper documents-- asked the authorities to help him get his daughter back...after the groom failed to pay up. (The groom has been arrested, too.)
Finally, the north-left corner of America: Washington State. A three-judge Court of Appeals panel has ruled that state law does not bar teachers from having sex with 18-year-old students --solong as it's consensual.
So, question:Where are the feminists? Not just here, but all over the world? They appear to have rolled over -- uh, sorry for that visual.I mean, they appeared to have... uh, well, they'remissing in action! Where have they gone? Down?
