RUSH: David in Bensenville, Illinois, I’m glad you waited. You’re next on the EIB Network, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Hello, Rush. Uhh, I told Snerdley that I was pretty much the loyal opposition for, uh, years. I have listened to you since probably, jeez, 1987, is that possible?

RUSH: 1988.

CALLER: 1988.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: I first heard you when you came on, and the only thing I was talking to Snerdley about — Now, if we can have a dialogue here it would be really nice. If we spend some time, because you always think you can change someone’s mind around. I mean, that’s — that’s part of your — your deal to — to inform people. And you think this whole Obamacare — and I want to actually really, the Obamacare actually we — we need to transcend the whole thing about Obama in general, because the Obamacare is a small part it, as I see it. And you talk about how people are so fed up with what… You know, I — I saw them, the Nazi symbols. I saw the hammer and sickle before the election even took place. I saw them at the tea parties. And you — you have to say you — you — you talk about a — a change in America. America is changing for — for — for you and the GOP is changing. It’s a nightmare for you guys right now. What happened in the New York 20 —

RUSH: You know —

CALLER: — Murphy?

RUSH: David, I’m going to have to ask you to hold on through the break.

CALLER: Oh, I’ll hold on, Rush, if you will.

RUSH: You’re being contentious with me for no reason.

CALLER: I’m never contentious.

RUSH: You’re being an SOB for no reason. I’m going to hold you through the break because I said I would.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: All right, back to David in Bensenville, Illinois. All right, why don’t you try to summarize what you wanted to tell me, what you think is going on in the country.

CALLER: What I — what I think is going on, Rush, and I’m not being contentious —

RUSH: Well, you are being contentious when —

CALLER: I’m not. Come on.

RUSH: — you assume that I’m not going to hold you on through the break as I said I would hold you on through the break.

CALLER: This is what I want to summarize. You think there’s a big, giant grassroots movement — quote, unquote, ‘grassroots movement’ — for conservatives and Republicans in this country. And, you know what? It’s not happening. You guys think it is. If that makes you sleep better at night, I’m sure you make a ton of money, 23 million dollars a year.

RUSH: Thirty-eight.

CALLER: You have so many people calling in to you —

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: — because they want to agree with you and no one wants to do their homework. You can go back in the history of this country. Anything that’s actually done anybody good has not come out of the conservative movement.

RUSH: (groans)

CALLER: The FDIC, Social Security, (garbled), Medicare, Medicaid even the Peace Corps, even the Special Olympics.

RUSH: Mmm-hmm.

CALLER: Have you guys even thought that you guys were part of that?

RUSH: Mmm-hmm.

CALLER: Uh-huh. I’m sure you have. You know what? When Clinton — I’m sure — this is — Obama… This is how I see it. Obama’s going to be the — the worst nightmare even more than Clinton because Clinton was supposed to be a five-star screw-up. And all he did, he balanced the budget, he had a good economy and he didn’t get us into wars and now you’ve got Obama, and he’s not one of us, to quote most of the people I see at those meetings. It’s not my America, and you can — and —

RUSH: All right.

CALLER: — I’m sure Snerdley would really appreciate it.

RUSH: David?

CALLER: He’s a Negro, isn’t he?

RUSH: David?

CALLER: He’s a black guy!

RUSH: David?

CALLER: Go ahead, Rush.

RUSH: David?

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: I’ve been engaging in the Mort Kondracke preferred way of responding to you, and that is: When somebody’s making a fool of themselves, you stand out of the way and let it happen without any vitriol or without any argument. You really are clueless. You have no idea what you’re talking about. It would be pointless — I’d love to try — to try to change your mind. You come here with these racially charged things about, ‘He doesn’t look like us.’ There’s nobody on our side saying that. Then you throw Snerdley in the mix here? You’re talking about things you don’t know anything about, for somebody who claims to have been listening to this program since the beginning. You are making up things.

CALLER: Isn’t Snerdley a Negro? A Negro!

RUSH: You have a template beliefs that are not grounded in any fact or truth.

CALLER: Oh, no.

RUSH: There is a groundswell of opposition to Obama’s AGENDA. He is plummeting in the polls. In the Rasmussen poll his approval just today went below 50%. Every time he gets up and speaks about health care, the numbers in support of Obama’s health care plan plummet. I don’t know what you would call it when Obama has to dispatch his union thugs to town hall meetings to rough up participants who don’t want the plan. You may not want to call it a groundswell; you may not want to call it a grassroots movement. But you’ve got your head in the sand and you’re being blind if you don’t want to admit what you really see. It’s not all made up; it’s not all fabricated. There’s genuine opposition to this, because this is not what the American people voted for. This is not what they want. And this man is in the process of destroying the Democrat Party.

We’ll find out soon enough. But you are going to have to get with it. People like you are sitting around being ignorant rather than getting informed, understanding evidence and truth about what’s happening. You are relying on your template. You’re relying on whatever your partisan biases make you believe in, and it’s people like you that are going to allow this administration to take over and take away as much liberty and freedom from the American people as possible, all in the name of some partisan politics. You think I’m opposing Obama because I don’t like Obama? You think these people out there are opposing Obama because of that? It’s not about Obama. It’s about them. It’s about their freedom. It’s about liberty. It’s about their health care. It’s about their right to make decisions in their lives as they see fit. It’s not his business to determine who gets what kind of health care when!

It’s not John Dingell’s. It’s not Arlen Specter’s. It’s not Kathleen Sebelius’. It’s not the government’s. People don’t want to turn over that freedom to the government. They’ve had it. It’s not about Obama. It’s about them. It’s about their kids. It’s about their grandkids. It’s about the future. It’s about freedom, prosperity, opportunity — and all of that they think is threatened. If this were just about destroying Obama, you’d have a point, but it’s not. He just happens to be the leader of the movement that’s trying to bring all this about. It has to be stopped for this country to remain the way it was founded, pure and simple. And we’re going to need people like you on our side rather than just having your head in a bottle or in the sand getting your thrills because you think Republicans and conservatives are taking it on the chin. When Republicans and conservatives take it on the chin…’ I take it back. When conservatives take it on the chin — screw the Republicans. When conservatives take it on the chin, so does America. Appreciate the call.
