RUSH: Part of me wishes it could be Columbus Day all year round.  Did you notice the Wall Street protestors are so dedicated to their work they didn't take the day off, and they're being paid?  They're being paid a lot.  They didn't take the day off!

RUSH: From the Associated Press: "President Barack Obama’s jobs bill, facing a critical test in the Senate, appears likely to die at the hands of Republicans." It was never meant to live, you people at the AP.  But, see, this is exactly -- I hate being right sometimes -- this is exactly what I told you the purpose of that whole jobs bill was.  It is the Democrats who can't pass this bill.  It's the Democrats who don't have the votes

RUSH: "CBS News has learned a congressional subpoena directed to Attorney General Eric Holder could go out as early as Tuesday..."

RUSH:  Everybody in the establishment -- the Republican establishment and the Democrat establishment -- everybody in both establishments thinks that Romney is the nominee.

RUSH: Here is the president openly, with cameras and microphones in the room, basically saying, "You know, I may as well be Hugo Chavez. I don't care. If the Congress won't act, I'm gonna get the money to you anyway."

CALLER: With this election coming up being the most critical in decades, maybe ever, are you going to do something about the Republican establishment strategy?

RUSH: Folks, there's almost a crying, desperate need to pick somebody on the basis of ideology now, because it is ideology that will win.  It is ideology that will beat Obama.  Not mush.  Not moderate.  Not middle ground. 

Put aside your ideological differences?  To me, that says, "Okay, conservatives, shut up."

RUSH:  The Democrat Party is killing capitalism. The American left and socialism and Barack Obama are killing capitalism. The capitalists are not killing capitalism.

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen warns: “Something big and possibly dangerous has happened – in secret.” The government used its “most awesome power” to take the life of an American citizen, he says, without benefit of a trial.

RUSH: I think Governor Palin is probably right: She doesn't need a title to be effective, just like I don't. There was no shortage of people that were begging her to run. Now you have practical things like filing deadlines coming up (some are within a week now), so I think it's time to move on from her. I think it's time to let go and move on.
