ACORN Organizing Protests
RUSH: Okay, try this on for size. See what you think of this. From Fox News: "The former New York office for ACORN, the disbanded community activist group, is playing a key role in the self-proclaimed 'leaderless' Occupy Wall Street movement, organizing 'guerrilla' protest events and hiring door-to-door canvassers to collect money under the banner of various causes while spending it on protest-related activities, sources tell FoxNews.com. The former director of New York ACORN, Jon Kest, and his top aides are now busy working at protest events for New York Communities for Change (NYCC). That organization was created in late 2009 when some ACORN offices disbanded and reorganized under new names after undercover video exposes prompted Congress to cut off federal funds."
Now, how many of you people thought that we defunded ACORN and they just went away? Yeah, we defunded them and they went away -- and how many of you are shocked to learn that Occupy Wall Street's actually hiring people to not just show up, but hiring people to organize and plan the civil unrest and the protests? How many of you are surprised that this didn't just effervesce right out of the ground on its own? ACORN's back? ACORN never went anywhere! The Fox News story gets it right. They just changed their names and reorganized, and that's who this is -- and that means it's directly traceable back to the White House.
I'm just looking at some videotape here, some Occupy protest somewhere. It was on MSNBC and it was total chaos. They didn't identify where it was. We have been talking the next phase of this Occupy stuff is pretty large civil disobedience. There are pockets of it that have sprung up in Oakland, Atlanta, other places, but that's the next phase of this, especially if ACORN is involved. And this is all part of a master plan to create unrest and chaos, general frustration, dispirit people who oppose President Obama. Everything that's going on here, folks, is designed to make it appear as though you and I are the smallest minority in the world. The country's passed us by, we are relics of a bygone era; we're not with it; we're not hip, and we're just supposed to slink away, fade away, shut up and let these people have what they want and do it the way they want to do it and it's over. They want a defeatist attitude in as many of us as they can create. It's all part of a plan and they're rolling this out, media paying attention to it, keeping it alive by design.
Education Department Exposes Student Loan Info
RUSH: "The personal financial details of as many as 5,000 college students were temporarily laid bare for other students to view on the Education Department's direct loan website earlier this month, an education official testified today. The students' information was available during a 67-minute window as officials were making a reconfiguration involving 11.5 million borrowers, said James Runcie, the Education Department's federal student aid chief operating officer. The change was designed to improve the website's performance times."
So when you apply for a government loan, odds are everybody's gonna know it, or at least have the chance to know it. "Runcie said students who logged on during the trouble period saw the personal details of other students. Those whose information was exposed have been notified and offered credit monitoring services, Runcie said." What about counseling? (laughing) "The department shut down the website while the problem was resolved. 'We responded as quickly as we could,' he said."
Snow Greets Obama in Denver
RUSH: Obama's doing some kind of a town hall in Denver where they had a major snowstorm. Look at that snowstorm in Denver! That is just amazing, and Obama is right there in the middle of it. He's turning into Algore Jr.
Muslim Students Say Catholic University is Too Catholic
RUSH: Get this. Muslim students at Catholic University are claiming that Catholic University is too Catholic. Muslim students at Catholic University claim it's too Catholic, and they are demanding changes. A friend of mine sends me a post here from JihadWatch.org: "Muslim students at Catholic University of America complain that Christian symbols make them uncomfortable when they pray in empty classrooms -- At the heart of this complaint is the hope of establishing a Muslim prayer space on the campus that would be subject to different standards than the rest of the university -- a little enclave of Islamic law where its ban on the display of crosses would be 'respected.' It is mentioned below that Muslim students say they like CUA because they feel 'safe' and 'comfortable.' They are receiving the benefits of what Catholics have built at CUA, but are expecting more. They want to bend the institution to their own purposes for their own 'comfort.'
"They think it's a fine place, if it just weren't so, you know, Catholic, and therefore un-Islamic. 'University Accused of Discriminating Against Muslims,' from CUA's The Tower, October 20 (thanks to B.): New charges have recently been filed against the University on counts of illegal discrimination against its Muslim and female students. The allegations are being reviewed by the District of Colombia Office of Human Rights (OHR), which has the strictest discrimination laws in the country. President John H. Garvey and the University is being urged to respond to the charges. John F. Banzhaf III, the George Washington University Professor of Public Interest Law who initiated the legal controversy surrounding same-sex residence halls, is also the one behind these new charges."
Do you remember Banzhaf, Snerdley? Do you remember where you first saw this guy? Crossfire. This guy Banzhaf I remember from the seventies, certainly the eighties. Had to be the eighties, CNN Crossfire. And I remember his crusade. When I first heard of this guy he wanted the government to ban smoking in a bunch of different places. I remember Pat Buchanan saying to him, laughing at him, "Why does the government have to do all this for? We can take care of ourselves. Why do you want the government involved doing all this?" So he's an excrement stirrer out there and has been for quite a while.
"The official allegations claim that CUA, 'does not provide space -- as other universities do -- for the many daily prayers Muslim students must make, forcing them instead to find temporarily empty classrooms where they are often surrounded by Catholic symbols which are incongruous to their religion.'" Catholic symbols at a Catholic University, and John Banzhaf is leading the charge for the Muslim students to set up a Muslim prayer center on the campus because the Muslim students don't have one, therefore they have to go to unoccupied classrooms where there's all this Catholic symbolism up there, and that makes 'em uncomfortable. Right. Damn Catholics had to put their Catholic stuff up on the walls.
This Banzhaf guy, it's not smoking. It was something else. Something else involving the airlines. I can't remember what it was, but it was ridiculous. He did start a tobacco jihad back in the sixties, but when I first saw him on Crossfire it was about something else. I'm having a mental block. I don't remember what it was. It'll come to me. He's been on the childhood obesity kick. He's basically one of these guys that just wants to tear up existing traditions and institutions. So imagine that, Catholic University of America is in violation of human rights 'cause it's too Catholic. Too many Catholic symbols on the walls. It makes the non-Catholic Muslims feel nervous when they go in there to pray.
The article continues. "This formal complaint also maintains that the new same-sex residence halls are particularly discriminating against female students, which is a new position on the same-sex lawsuit that began last month." So this university is being sued for all kinds of things. Is basically being sued because they're Catholic. Catholic University of America being sued because they're too Catholic by a whole bunch of different groups of people, not just the Muslims. So you see the assault on the traditions and institutions which have made the country great continues, and it is an assault that is also coming from the White House. It's also coming from the regime. It's all coming from people on the left, and that's where Obama is, that's the position he occupies.
Too Much wind Shuts Down Scotland Wind Farm
RUSH: From the UK Sun: "Wind Farms Shut Down Because it's Too Windy in Scotland -- Seven wind farm operators switched off their turbines on Monday night. National Grid said they were generating TOO MUCH power as storms ripped across Scotland. It leaves taxpayers with yet another bill. National Grid has to pay wind farm operators compensation when asking them to stop the turbines. National Grid said: 'It was very windy yesterday and there was some curtailment of wind generation.'"
This like saying there are too many Playboy centerfolds in a whorehouse. I mean this is incredible! We can't win. We build wind farms and then we have too many of 'em. It gets too windy for the wind farms. This is like a high maintenance family member. At some point you have to ask yourself, is it worth it? Too much wind shuts down wind farms? Does too much oil shut down oil rigs? Does too much natural gas shut down natural gas pipelines? Does too much coal shut down coal mines? This is just absurd. I don't care where I look today, every news story is one absurdity after another.
You know, these wind farms -- let me see if I have this right -- they don't work when there's no wind, they don't work when there's too much wind. They don't work when it's too cold. They're ugly. They kill birds. What use are they? And then, when it's too windy, you have to shut 'em down, and then the wind farm operators get compensation? How does that work? Do the coal-fired electric plants get definition when they're taking offline? Oil rigs? Do they get compensation when Obama slaps a moratorium on 'em? So many senseless, stupid things.
New Poll Finds a Deep Distrust of Government
RUSH: This one makes sense. "With Election Day just over a year away, a deep sense of economic anxiety and doubt about the future hangs over the nation, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, with Americans’ distrust of government at its highest level ever. The combustible climate helps explain the volatility of the presidential race and has provided an opening for protest movements like Occupy Wall Street." No mention of the Tea Party in this story. No way. No mention of the Tea Party.
"Almost half of the public thinks the sentiment at the root of the Occupy movement generally reflects the views of most Americans." No, that's not true. Generally the Occupieds hate capitalism and generally the American public does not hate capitalism. So they have to play with the language to make it sound like we're all on the same page here but we're not. The Occupieds do not like America as founded. This survey which shows such deep distrust of government is made up -- Occupy is a bunch of small numbered groups. It's not representative at all, other than the minority extreme left in this country. This story is written, of course, to make Occupy sound like the mainstream, but it isn't. The mainstream is upset because of the decline, because of the ongoing assault, the damage that is being done to this country, to its private sector.
"With nearly all Americans remaining fearful that the economy is stagnating or deteriorating further, two-thirds of the public said that wealth should be distributed more evenly in the country. Seven in 10 Americans think the policies of Congressional Republicans favor the rich." So no matter how you slice this here, it seems the majority of people don't trust the government that Obama thinks that we want. Remember, Obama's out there saying we're gonna have a government that tells the American people that you're on your own if the Republicans win. Damn right, that's what we want, to be on our own. Because, Mr. President, we don't trust you. We don't think you can help us when we're sick. We don't think you can help us when we're unemployed. We don't think you can help this country, or educate us, or keep the air clean. We don't think you're competent.
NYT: Will Extremists Hijack OWS?
RUSH: New York Times headline: "Will Extremists Hijack Occupy Wall Street?" (laughing) which means (or allows) that extremists are there if they're gonna hijack it. Of course they're all extremists.
Rush's Favorite Isley Brother: Rudolph
RUSH: A little Rod Stewart music here and the Motown song. No, no! This is from Ronald Isley, and This Old Heart of Mine. That is a great song. Just a fabulous tune. This Old Heart of Mine. That's a cover of an original by the Isley Brothers. My favorite Isley brother was... Aw, jeez. Now I forget my favorite Isley brother's name. Leon? No, no. Ronald? No, no. No. Ronald is the singer. My favorite Isley is the big guy that just stood there in case they had some tambourines in the song. I think it's Rudolph. I think I like Rudolph, 'cause I know that Rudolph had a fundamental role in Fight the Power. Rudolph was doing the "Uh!" Rudolph was giving us the, "Uh, uh!"
