Marco Rubio's Mormon Roots?
RUSH:  There's a website out there, folks, called BuzzFeed. I'm not that familiar with BuzzFeed, but nevertheless they have posted something that got noticed by the Hot Air blog, which was founded by Michelle Malkin. She then sold it. I don't know who runs it. It's where Ed Morrissey and his gang is. Well, here's the headline from BuzzFeed: "Marco Rubio's Mormon Roots -- In the compelling personal narrative that has helped propel Florida Senator Marco Rubio to national political stardom, one chapter has gone completely untold: Rubio spent his childhood as a faithful Mormon.

"Rubio was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his family at around the age of eight, and remained active in the faith for a number of years during his early youth, family members told BuzzFeed. Rubio spokesman Alex Conant confirmed the story to BuzzFeed, and said Rubio returned to the Catholic church a few years later with his family, receiving his first communion on Christmas day in 1984 at the age of 13. The revelation adds a new dimension to Rubio's already-nuanced religious history -- and could complicate his political future at a time when many Republicans see him as the odds-on favorite for the 2012 vice presidential nod," and they say here in the BuzzFeed story that this could be a problem.

Would the country want two Mormons?  Well, a former Mormon and a current Mormon on the ticket. This, I guess, does not acknowledge the possibility that Rand Paul could be Romney's vice presidential running mate, which also remains a possibility, and that is being speculated about. Rand Paul even said last night that he would be honored to be Romney's vice president. And when you look at the dynamic between Ron Paul and Romney, you can see where it might be possible.

Great UK Headline: HALF of Americans Don't Pay Income Tax Despite Crippling Gov't Debt
RUSH: Here's a headline in the UK Daily Mail. You will never see this headline in the American Drive-By Media: "HALF of Americans Don't Pay Income Tax Despite Crippling Government Debt." UK Daily Mail. "Only half of U.S. citizens pay federal income tax, according to the latest available figures. In 2009, just 50.5% of Americans paid any income tax to the federal government -- the lowest proportion in at least half a century. ... The decreasing number of taxpayers threatens government revenues, and could also cause resentment from those who believe that welfare recipients are taking money out of the economy." You'll never see a headline like that in the American Drive-By Media. You just never will.

Don't Let Your Tesla Battery Run Out
RUSH: Another green energy company down the tubes. Speaking of that, did you see what will happen if you go out and by a Tesla? Do you know what Tesla is? Tesla is an electric car. It's a roadster. There's two or three different models. And there's a website out there called Jalopy.org or some such thing. Oh. That's interesting. If you let the battery of the Tesla totally drain, the car is bricked. It's destroyed. You can't even push it. It takes 11 days from a full charge. If the battery is fully charged -- and sometimes even if you have it plugged in, if you have it plugged in using a long extension cord that won't carry the current -- there have been (this website says) five examples of Tesla owners' cars totally bricked. The battery dies and the car locks. The car has to be sent back to the manufacturer, the battery has to be replaced, and the minimum cost is $40,000 -- minimum $40,000 -- to make this work.

GE Forces Employees into Volts
RUSH:  Also, "GE 'Forcing' Employees Into Chevy Volts -- A memo leaked to Green Car Reports lays out GE’s plans..." This Crony Capitalism 101. "A memo leaked to Green Car Reports lays out GE’s plans for their new fleet of Volts, and as expected, it has some people crying foul." By the way, source here is Gas2.org. "The memo, sent to employees of GE Healthcare Americas team explains that all sedan, crossover, and minivan purchases in 2012 will be replaced by the Chevy Volt. Only field engineers are exempt from having to drive a company Volt. GE will offer estimates for installation Level 2 Charging Stations, though all-gas use will be allowed when there is no electric option.

"Any employees who opt out of the Volt program will not be compensated for their expenses." So if you have a company car at GE they're gonna force you into a Volt. If you don't want it, you have to go buy your own car at your own expense. Twelve thousand Chevrolet Volts, I think, is the number that GE is going to buy. Let's see, 12,000? Here's the last paragraph: "It’s a bold move to be sure, and it will hopefully prove to be a boon to the Volt’s flagging sales numbers. GM had hoped to sell as many as 60,000 Volts in 2012, before dropping that number to 45,000. Will they even make that number though? Hard to tell, though GE’s business will go a long way towards giving the Volt some sales momentum."

Now, Jeffrey Immelt is head of Obama's private sector job creation panel or what have you, and has says crony capitalism just out the wazoo. This is payback. This is payback for what Obama has sent GE's way in the form of grants for "green energy" exploration and invention. So Immelt says: Okay, we'll buy 12,000 Volts and make 'em company cars. And how wonderful of GE to allow Volt drivers to use the all-gas option only when they've run out of electricity. What's the mileage they get with the all-gas engines? It's like 600 miles, I think? I'm guessing. It's either 329, 529, something like that, versus 40 miles to a charge.

Subsidized Green Energy Company Lays Off Workers, Rewards Top Execs
RUSH:  Anyway, Michigan Capital Confidential is the blog: "In the nine months since David Prystash was named Chief Financial Officer of A123 Systems -- the battery manufacturer that received $390.1 million in federal and state subsidies -- the company has laid off 125 employees and had a net loss of $172 million through the first three quarters of 2011. A123 Systems also learned earlier this month that the company that was to be the main purchaser of its batteries -- Fisker Automotive -- had its federal funding cut off for missing milestones and had to lay off its own employees. A123 Systems had invested $23 million into Fisker." We have, it seems like every week now, at least one story of outright failure by the regime regarding "green energy," and these stories never make it into the Drive-By Media! Like this is from Michigan Capital Confidential. In the old days, I wouldn't even have told you what was in something like Michigan Capital Confidential 'cause I never heard of it. But it's the only place you can find out news, that and the British press.

Obama Czar: Smaller Families Produce Smarter Kids
RUSH:  This is Cybercast News Service, John Holdren, and this guy is dangerous.  He's one of Obama's czars.  John Holdren, big manmade global warming aficionado, I mean he's one of the leaders of the hoax.  "John P. Holdren, the top science adviser to President Barack Obama, wrote in a book he co-authored with population control advocates Paul and Anne Ehrlich that children from larger families have lower IQs." That dovetails with a study I once saw back in the seventies at Tufts University.  It's in Boston, and they found that the larger the bust size, the smaller the IQ in women.  So now this guy, Holdren, has found that the larger the family, the smaller the IQ of the children.

"The book -- 'Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions' -- argued that the United States government had a 'responsibility to halt the growth of the American population.'"  Now, if you don't think that this is the Democrat Party and the president of the United States getting involved in social issues, I don't know what is.  And this is chilling.  If these clowns get their way we're gonna be headed down the pike to a one child per family policy just like they have with the ChiComs.  "The book -- 'Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions' -- argued that the United States government had a 'responsibility to halt the growth of the American population.'"

Well, that might explain why they're so interested in massive government funded birth control and abortion.  Paul Ehrlich has been living off false claims of dire consequences with population growth since the seventies.  He's thoroughly discredited and yet remains a liberal icon.  And now Obama's science adviser, one of his czars, is warning about the dangers of large families, including the fact that children from larger families have lower IQs.  "'It surely is no accident that so many of the most successful individuals are first or only children,' wrote Holdren and the Ehrlichs, 'nor that children of large families (particularly with more than four children), whatever their economic status, on the average perform less well in school and show lower I.Q. scores than their peers from small families.'
"Holdren and the Ehrlichs published 'Human Ecology' with W.H. Freeman and Company in 1973. In June 2000, a study published in American Pyschologist debunked the notion that children in larger families have lower I.Q.s. But when Holdren appeared in the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee in 2009 for a confirmation hearing on his appointment to run the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, he continued to argue for the benefits of 'smaller families' on other bases.  In 'Human Ecology,' Holdren and the Ehrlichs concluded: 'Population control is absolutely essential if the problems now facing mankind are to be solved.' ... The authors then questioned the values of parents who have large families."

This guy wrote the book in '73 with Ehrlich and he is Obama's science adviser.  I'm gonna get the book on this guy, his resume.  Some of the claims that he has made regarding global warming and other science issues are simply outrageous.  But they're talking about social issues.  A guy who wrote a book about large families being stupid is now a prime adviser to President Obama.

Bam Takes Credit for South Dakota Oil Boom
RUSH:  So there's Obama. He's down in Coral Gables, Florida, University of Miami. American Energy! www.WhiteHouse.gov. There's Obama saying he's not gonna walk away from clean energy. (summarizing) "I don't care how scandalous it gets. I don't care how bankrupt the companies are. I don't care how crony the capitalism is. I'm not walking away from clean energy, 'cause it's a way to cut this country down to size! I'm not walking away from clean energy 'cause there isn't any such thing as clean energy! But I'm gonna lie to people, and I'm gonna make 'em think there is. Just like I've made 'em think the economy is coming back and roaring back, I'm gonna make 'em think that there's clean energy.

"And, by the way, when it comes to all that fracking out there in South Dakota, let me tell you something. That fracking's going on but it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't let it happen." That's right, Obama is claiming the government was behind fracking and the oil boom in South Dakota. (laughing) No. Way. But there he is: "I will not walk away from clean energy." We'll have the sound bites of all this tomorrow, if they are worth the time.
