Caller Spouts Anti-Ryan Talking Points

RUSH: Here's Joe in Richmond, Virginia, as we kick off on the phones. Welcome, sir. Great to have you here. Hi.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. How you doing, big guy?

RUSH: Very well, sir.

CALLER: Do you have any idea how hard it is to get in touch with you? I've been calling for about three or four years, and always getting a busy signal.

RUSH: Well, you know what? I'm impressed that you kept trying, though. I know how hard it is.

CALLER: I almost messed my pants when the phone started ringing, though. "Jesus, I'm getting in!"

RUSH: (laughing) Well, I'm glad that you didn't.

CALLER: I am, too, believe me. When you look at Paul Ryan's record from 1998 when he came into office, I think he's gonna be more of a liability than a benefit. In 1999, he voted for the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. In 2000, he voted for the 2000 Securities Modernization Act. Both of those acts, bills, allowed Wall Street firms -- Goldman, Lehman, Bear Stearns -- to leverage themselves up; start buying these mortgages without regard to the value, some of them all across the world which created the global --

RUSH: Joe, where you reading this from?

CALLER: These are my words, dude. I've been speaking to local radio shows for a long time.

RUSH: You sound like you're reading this stuff.

CALLER: I'm not reading. I've been practicing for a long time. I've been speaking.

RUSH: You've been practicing to talk to me about Paul Ryan for a long time?

CALLER: Nooo. About the issues. What really caused the global financial Armageddon? It wasn't Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. You and I can have a conversation about that later. Right now we're talking about Paul Ryan.

RUSH: What caused the global financial crash was the subprime mortgage program brought to you by Bill Clinton and --

RUSH: -- Jimmy Carter and the Democrat Party --

CALLER: Rush --

RUSH: -- forcing these evil banks --

CALLER: Ruuuush?

RUSH: -- to make loans to people who couldn't pay them back.

RUSH: Joe? Joe, look. What I just told you is the truth. I have nothing to gain by lying to you. I'm trying to help you. You sound like a smart guy. I'm trying. I'm desperate for people like you to learn the truth. Ryan had nothing to do with it! Romney had nothing to do with it! The subprime mortgage crisis is the foundation of the economic collapse, and it was brought to us by the Democrat Party in race-based errors. They thought it was unfair that people who couldn't afford to buy a house shouldn't have one, and it was a disaster.

And we're still paying the price, pure and simple.

Nothing complicated about it.
