Houston Four Seasons Sues the NAALCP
RUSH: Houston's Four Seasons Hotel is suing the NAALCP, the National Association for the Advancement of Liberal Colored People. Wait 'til you hear about this. This is typical. "Houston's Four Seasons Hotel is suing the NAACP, claiming the association owes the hotel almost $100,000 ... for a summer banquet. The lawsuit claims that the NAACP owes the Four Seasons $99,597 for various unpaid charges from July to November for an event held at the downtown hotel...
"The suit alleges that the payment was due on Nov. 27 and remains unpaid after a second request for payment in December of last year. An invoice submitted as evidence shows banquet charges of $34,401 and $39,909 in room charges, among other items on the list. The hotel claims the entire bill was not paid." Who do they think they are? What do they mean, "paid"? The hotel didn't get the memo that this is a donation?
You're telling me the Four Seasons had an NAALCP convention and expected to get paid? What kind of bias is that? You see, this is the kind of racism that is way, way, way too frequent in this country, and it's way too blatant, and it is way too obvious. I mean, it's one thing to quietly expect to be paid. That's typically racist. But then to file a lawsuit and call people's attention to it?
This is why African-Americans vote Democrat, and the sooner the Republicans figure this out, the faster they're gonna be able to repair the breach. This hotel... Whoever runs this hotel's gonna have to go back to training or something, 'cause you don't expect to get paid when the NAALCP has a convention. Talk to the people who have hosted Al Sharpton events. It just doesn't happen. Those are called donations, contributions.
The Four Seasons didn't get the memo on that.
RUSH:For those of you who smoke, I told you yesterday that in Oregon they're gonna try to make cigarettes available only by way of prescription. The AP via Yahoo News is reporting today via Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar: "Millions of smokers could be priced out of health insurance because of tobacco penalties in President Barack Obama's health care law, according to experts who are just now [fleshing] out the potential impact of a little-noted provision in the massive legislation. The Affordable Care Act -- 'Obamacare' ... -- allows health insurers to charge smokers buying individual policies up to 50% higher premiums starting next Jan. 1."
See, this thing doesn't start fully implementing 'til 2014. And one of these things is next January, a year from now, smokers who buy individual policies will automatically face a premium increase of 50% above what already is being charged. For a 55-year-old smoker, that penalty could reach nearly $4,250 a year. A 60-year-old smoker could wind up paying nearing $5,100 on top of the premium. The $4,250 is on top of his premium. That's the penalty for smoking. And don't forget, the sales tax revenue from tobacco sales is funding children's health care programs. Little known provision. Oh, there are so many of these.
This story about the penalty on smokers that kicks in one year from now, Obamacare, I mentioned that -- and the story says it's an AP story -- a 55-year-old person that smokes, the penalty will be $4,250 a year. That penalty, so there's no misunderstanding, is added to your already existing health insurance premium, whatever that is. The penalty is $4,250 if you smoke. There's a smokers penalty, 4,200 bucks for a person of 55. They average out what the premium would be, calculate the penalty. The older you are, the higher your premium is gonna be, therefore the higher your penalty. So a 60-year-old will end up paying $5,100 on top of their premium.
Now, I know, a lot of you are saying, "Well, so what? I don't smoke. To hell with smokers."
Smokers are among the most hated people in our country, even though I think they deserve a medal. I think smokers deserve national gratitude. The sales tax revenue from cigarette sales is funding child health care. Cigarette smokers are abused. They are shunned. They are discriminated against. They are true, second-, third-class citizens. There has been a genuine hatred ginned up against smokers.
It's not enough that you might disagree with what they do. If you see somebody smoking, other than in a movie, if you've seen a movie, it looks kind of cool. If you see it on a TV show, hey, looks kind of cool. But if you see somebody light up near a restaurant you're going into, you just hate 'em. You get mad because this has been the objective. And yet these people continue to put up with the abuse. If they're told they can only smoke in subfreezing weather outdoors in the wintertime, they do it. It is they who are primarily funding a couple of children's health care programs.
So you say, "Well, I don't care. I don't smoke. To hell with them. They deserve it. They're stupid."
But see, Obamacare has limitless power. What happens if the Department of Health and Human Services wants to attach a similar penalty to people who are overweight, not obese, just overweight? There's nothing stopping them from doing it. There's nothing in Obamacare that stops them. Obamacare is wide open. So it may be that they go after smokers first, and you say, "I don't care, that's cool." But then, if you're overweight, or some other thing that they think you shouldn't be, some other way you live that you shouldn't, that they say, "Okay, we're gonna penalize you. Your health care premium just got a penalty." There is nothing stopping them from doing this.

Hilarious! Fournier Worries Obama Set Expectations Too High
RUSH:I'm just sitting here, I'm reading a piece by our old buddy Ron Fournier. He used to be at the AP, is now at the National Journal. Ron Fournier is worried that Obama might be raising expectations too high. Ha. Are your expectations way up, folks? (laughing)
Yeah, I guess there are a lot of people out there worried that we're shooting too high here. (laughing) That cracks me up. Let me read to you what he says here. "And so Obama is raising expectations this time for combat over a liberal agenda that will save the planet, fortify the middle class, protect entitlements, regulate guns and extend gay rights." See, there it is. I'm telling you, don't sit there and pooh-pooh this gay rights. I'm telling you, it is at the top of practically every group on the left's agenda.
At any rate, let me start again. For some reason this amuses me, that they're worried about raising expectations? If only we were raising expectations.
"And so Obama is raising expectations this time for combat over a liberal agenda that will save the planet, fortify the middle class, protect entitlements, regulate guns and extend gay rights. Even if he fails to push his policies through Congress, Obama can now claim he fought the good fight. But," this is where Fournier is concerned "great presidents don't just fight good fights; they win them."
I think it is utterly amazing that this guy looks at this agenda as raising expectations. Saving the planet. You know, the vanity, the arrogance, the hubris. In fact, before you even get to that point, the belief that the planet is dying. What must these people think of every day as they go about life? I'm telling you, they look out and they see nothing but misery, suffering, incompetence, planet dying, and it's all because of humanity, by the way, too many people. That's the problem with the planet, there are too many people on it.
Okay, so save the planet, fortify the middle -- Mr. Fournier, do you see what's happening to the middle class? Fortify, great expectations, shooting too high, fortify the middle class? After four years of what has happened to the middle class? And then protect entitlements? The road we are on is going to bankrupt them. And then regulate guns and extend gay rights. Yep. It's a hell of an agenda. Man, that is an agenda of greatness. Why, that's an agenda they're gonna be writing about in the history books. Who the hell was Lincoln, when he gets through here.
Who the hell was Washington? Who the hell was Jefferson? What difference did it make that we had these guys? It didn't matter a hill of beans, but we really, as a nation, fulfilled our destiny under President Obama. We saved the planet. We fortified the middle class. We protected entitlements and we extended gay rights. Who could possibly measure up to any of that? Why, there hasn't been a president with this amount of courage and vision in I don't know when. Maybe ever. And Ron Fournier is worried that Obama is shooting too high. That is hilarious.
And his last line: "If all we get is big fights, nobody wins." So all this is wonderful, but presidents don't just fight good fights, they win them. Mr. Fournier swerved into a truth here that I don't think he understands, and that is for Obama it's all about the fight and the destruction. I mean, to accomplish all that Obama's gonna have to eliminate all opposition. That's the objective.
Communists Cheer Obama's Gun Grab
RUSH: What is this headline on Drudge? "Communists Cheer on Obama's Gun Grab." The communists are the Communist Party USA, not the Cubans. That's probably all of them, but why would the communists be doing that? Why would communists cheer a gun grab? I'll bet Ahmadinejad's cheering that, too. I'll bet Morsi and Muslim Brotherhood are cheering Obama's position on guns. The communists are, too. Yeah. Yeah, I guess it makes sense.
