Barbara Lee (Communist-CA) Proposes "Department of Peace Building"
RUSH: Speaking of stupid, from TheHill.com: "House Democrats led by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.)," and communist, and she is, "have introduced legislation that would create a federal [bureaucracy called the] Department of Peacebuilding, which would be tasked with everything from finding ways to scale back US military actions to ending bullying at schools. Under her bill, HR 808, the new department would be led by a Cabinet-level Secretary of Peacebuilding, who would have a seat on the National Security Council.
"The department would be 'dedicated to peacebuilding, peacemaking, and the study and promotion of conditions conducive to both domestic and international peace and a culture of peace.'" Ms. Lee, we have one of these already. We have a Department of Peacemaking. You know what it's called? The Pentagon. That's what the people that work there are. It's called the United States Department of Defense. That is our Department of Peacebuilding, and they've got things in there to make peace. They got jet planes.
Have you ever been around when an American jet flies over? That's the sound of freedom. That's the sound of your freedom going by. Of course these people don't look at it that way. They want to promote "conditions conducive to both domestic and international peace and a culture of peace," which means they want to regulate peace. Barbara Lee wants to regulate peace. What is "a culture of peace," anyway? Passivity? What is "a culture of peace"? Now, "The bill does not appropriate a specific amount of money to create the new department but says 'such sums as may be necessary' are authorized."
So it's open-ended.
Nobody Has Stolen My Michelle Obama Oscars Take Yet
RUSH: There are probably that many commentators (and there were probably that many comments) and I, El Rushbo, managed to have a unique point of analysis that I've seen nowhere else, which means nobody's stolen it yet, or else they don't think it's worth stealing. My observation plainly was, "Okay, does anybody find it ironic that here we have Michelle Obama -- who is the wife of the president, Barack Hussein Obama -- presenting the award for best movie to the people that did Argo?"
What is Argo about? Argo is about the successful rescue of embassy personnel in Iran in 1979. This administration is noted not only for failing to rescue embassy personnel at Benghazi, but failing to prevent their deaths. I found it ironic as it could be that the wife, the first lady of the president who failed to protect embassy personnel is giving out the Academy Award to a movie honoring people who rescued embassy personnel." Frankly, I must tell you again, I'm surprised that I'm the only one that came up with that interpretation.
Everybody else just fell right in line and talked about, "Well, should she have hijacked it or should she not have hijacked it? Was it really proper for the first lady?" Everybody looked at it from that standpoint. I said, "Wait a minute. Does nobody realize what just happened here? It would be like Colonel Sanders going out there and giving award for humanitarianism to chickens, or close to it." (interrupting) No, I'm not trying to forget talk about Manti Te'o and the NFL. Let's put it out there: "Is he gay?" That's what they're worried about, and it's not me saying it.
Obscene: Obamacare Adds $6.2 Trillion in New Spending
RUSH: Two things here. The Government Accountability Office released a report today saying that Obamacare will increase the long-term federal deficit by $6.2 trillion, another $6,200 billion. "Senator Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.), who requested the report, revealed the findings this morning at a Senate Budget Committee hearing. The report, he said, 'confirms everything critics and Republicans were saying about the faults of this bill,' and 'dramatically proves that the promises made assuring the nation that the largest new entitlement program in history would not add one dime to the deficit were false.'"
This is not the CBO. This is the Government Accountability Office. Obamacare adds $6.2 trillion to the national debt, $6.2 trillion. It's not saving anybody any money. It's not reducing your premiums by $2,500. It's not balancing the budget. It's not reducing the deficit.
Another way to put this. Obamacare will result in this country spending $6.2 trillion it otherwise would not spend. It's the only way to look at this. If we had not made any changes in our health care system, we wouldn't be spending this $6.2 trillion. I'm not saying we wouldn't be spending money, but Obamacare adds brand-new $6.2 trillion in brand-new spending that wasn't occurring. That's just obscene.
And, the Obama White House has released details on how sequestration cuts are now going to affect disabled children, clean air, and abused women. The sequester will now harm disabled children and abused women. The Washington Post reports that this is a last-ditch effort to pressure Republicans into compromising. What Obama actually wants is for Boehner and the Republicans to agree to additional tax increases. So now disabled children and abused women. I'm ashamed. I'm ashamed that this is what we have permitted to occur in our politics to try to manage our affairs.
Obama: "You Can't Do Things by Yourself"
RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, Obama's out campaigning, and he just said -- and I'm sorry, I do not have the context, but I wanted to have it established that I mentioned this. He said, "You can't do things by yourself." Now, I don't know who he was talking about or who he was talking to. All I know is he has said, "You didn't build that. You didn't build that on your own," and now, "You can't do things by yourself."
So I don't know if he was talking to people, you can't earn a living by yourself, or he's talking to the Republicans about the sequester, you can't do things by yourself, but I guess he's saying you can't do things without government, but I don't know who he was talking to. I just saw this during the break and I didn't have enough time to find out any context on this.
RUSH: Okay, I understand. Obama was once again saying he's not a dictator. He's learned that he can't do everything by himself, that he needs a helpful Congress when he said, "You can't do everything by yourself."
