Children Cry When School Refuses to Feed Them
RUSH: Outraged parents in Attleboro, Massachusetts, are beside themselves. Attleboro, Massachusetts. This is a shocking story, folks.
"School officials say as many as 25 students at a Massachusetts school were denied lunch this week because they either could not pay or their pre-paid accounts did not contain enough money. Outraged parents say some students at Coelho Middle School in Attleboro cried when they were told by a worker they could not eat on Tuesday." Two days ago. I want you to imagine this, now. Young skulls full of mush in school to engage in intellectual inquiry, there to learn everything there is to learn, being taught about the Constitution, Abraham Lincoln, Bill Clinton, Spike Lee, Tom Brady. They're being taught about all the great things in America.
All the workers at the school doing everything they can to talk about Selma and any number of important things that happened in America. Lunchtime, 25 kids go hungry. Massachusetts. Not Arkansas. The students cried, folks. There weren't any Republicans around. The Republicans starve kids elsewhere, but there aren't any Republicans in Massachusetts. Twenty-five kids went home in tears because the workers said, "Well, your prepaid card doesn't have enough money on it." And the students couldn't pay because they don't have any money.
"Superintendent Pia Durkin tells The Sun Chronicle that a worker for the contractor that provides lunch service at city schools has been suspended. She has also scheduled a meeting with officials at the company, Whitson's. Meanwhile, workers have been told not to deny any child a meal. Holly Von Seggern, vice president for marketing and community relations for Whitson's, says the company apologizes and is investigating," why one of their workers brought 25 students to tears by refusing them food in school. "Well, they didn't pay for it." So why should that stop anybody? I know it used to, but it doesn't anymore.
No matter where you look, folks, it's shocking. The low-information crowd can't catch a break.
What is an Obamacare Navigator?
RUSH: The Washington Examiner has a story today. Here's the headline: "Tens Of Thousands Obamacare 'Navigators' To Be Hired." What is an Obamacare navigator? Let me tell you what the story says: "Tens of thousands of health care professionals, union workers and community activists hired as 'navigators' to help Americans choose Obamacare options starting Oct. 1 could earn $20 an hour or more, according to new regulations issued Wednesday.
"The 63-page rule covering navigators, drawn up by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, also said the government will provide free translators for those not fluent in English -- no matter what their native language is. The proposed requirements would also include that such entities and individuals provide consumers with information and assistance in the consumer's preferred language, at no cost to the consumer," blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, what this means is that Obamacare, the government, is going to hire tens of thousands of community activists who may well be paid nearly $50 an hour if you read further down in the story. You know what they're gonna be doing? Registering people to vote. That's what they're gonna be doing, under the guise of walking you through, navigating you through the labyrinth of how to sign up for Obamacare. And the assumption, the correct assumption is that you are gonna be totally lost. And you will. There's a 61-page application form just to get enrolled at one of these state exchanges. Sixty-one pages. There's a form that looks like a tax form that you have to fill out.
So what the regime has done is announced they're gonna hire a bunch of people called navigators, and they're gonna go out and meet you. They're gonna go door to door. They're gonna call you. They're gonna get a hold of you via e-mail or whatever, and they're gonna offer assistance to you in navigating Obamacare. They're going to walk you through how to sign up and how to use it and what they really are going to do, what this really is, is a voter registration program. It's voter registration outreach. These navigators will go out and they're gonna tell all of these people that they register to vote, they're gonna give them some help with Obamacare paperwork, and they're gonna smear Republicans, and it's all going to be paid for by peaceful, never angry, always helpful, dutifully quiet, play-by-the-rules taxpayers.
You and I are paying for this. You think Obama's gonna use his own money? You think Obama's gonna use Organizing for America money for this? No way, Jose. Taxpayer money is gonna be used 'cause this a program designed to help people with Obamacare, to help you navigate all of the complexities. These people are gonna be hired and they're gonna run out, gonna meet you, get hold of you, whatever mailing list they can find that you're on, and then they're gonna try to get you to register as Democrats. I mean, it doesn't say that. I just know what this is. I should specify. The way it's presented is, a very compassionate public service program brought to you by your caring Obama administration to help you deal with the complexities of signing up for and using Obamacare.
But I know flat-out, full well what's gonna happen here. This is a voter registration drive, pure and simple. And if you're already registered, no problem, they're gonna make sure you vote Democrat. These little navigators are gonna be telling people how hard it was to get this done because the Republicans don't really like any of this. The Republicans would like to shut this down. The Republicans don't care if you get health care or not. But your president loves you. Your president cares about you. Your president wants you to get health care, you're entitled to it. That's what this is, I have no doubt. Let's see what the Republicans do, if anything, once they figure this out.
