RUSH: CNN is saying that they have sources who have pinpointed a couple of rogue employees at the IRS who were responsible for this, and they were “overly aggressive.” They’re being described as being “off the reservation,” these rogue employees. There are two of ’em at the IRS, and CNN reported that these two rogue employees have already been punished. Now, I want to expand on something that I was talking about earlier when this whole thing came up.

One employee, we’re told now… This is not the CNN report. This is another story here that says there was one IRS employee that was in charge of the approval process for all the applications for tax-exempt status for every Tea Party group, over three years. One IRS employee. The media theme today is, “Obama couldn’t be involved! There’s insulation. It’s against the law for the president to call the Treasury department, the IRS, and give them orders! That can’t happen, and Obama’s disengaged anyway.

“The government’s way too massive and too big,” blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Now, Obama doesn’t have to call that one employee. That one employee is there precisely because he is Obama, and that’s not the only guy. The people at all of these bureaucracies who are political appointees are there because they don’t need orders. They don’t need instructions. They already know what to do. They are Obama. And, by the way, that’s not uncommon.

Do you remember the guy James Hansen, who was this rogue scientist at NASA? James Hansen was routinely off the reservation. The government has rules that employees cannot speak except when sanctioned and authorized. They can’t go off the reservation. He was routinely making speeches without sanction of the government. He was earning outside income. But because he was saying what everybody at NASA believed about global warming, they didn’t do anything about it.

James Hansen didn’t need orders. He didn’t need instruction. They didn’t have to have meetings with him to tell him what to say. He was already a true believer. This guy at the IRS is the same way. The guy at the IRS hates conservatives without having to be told to. The guy at the IRS is fully capable and willing to obstruct conservatives, to punish conservatives, to wage war — political war — against them. He doesn’t need an owner’s manual. He doesn’t need a meeting every day.

I’ll use myself as an example, a little inside baseball here. I hate meetings. I despise ’em. I don’t have them. Everybody here every day knows what they have to do, and the only time they hear from me is when I’m not particularly happy about it, which means they never hear from me. I don’t tell anybody here what to do. They already know. They know what’s expected. They know what the purpose of the program is. When they’re furnishing me things, I don’t have to tell ’em what I want.

It’s that way in any top-down organization.

You don’t have time to meet with people every day. You don’t have time to instruct them. You delegate. So this guy at the IRS, he may as well have been Obama. Guys like Van Jones, they’re hired because they already are Obama, in their own way. So it’s not in any way, far as I’m concerned, an excuse. It doesn’t excuse Obama. It’s not an out for him to say that the IRS had a couple of rogue people in there, operating without anybody’s knowledge.

Of course they were!

They didn’t need supervision. Everybody Obama puts in these key positions — be it the EPA, be it the Department of Defense, be it the Department of Justice, everybody he puts in there — is gonna do what he wants one way or the other. He’s either got something on ’em or they’re fellow travelers or they’re eager to please him and know exactly how to do it, or what have you. They don’t need meetings. For these committed, activist, leftists to whom this stuff is all their lives are about, this is all standard operating procedure.

Sullying conservatives, lying about conservatives, impugning conservatives, using the power of government to suppress your opposition, using the power of government to make the playing field unlevel and unfair. That’s all part and parcel of being a leftist. They don’t need instruction. So my only point is, the fact that there may be a couple of rogue people at the IRS does, in no way, excuse Obama or even absent him from the scandal.

I just find it fascinating that if it’s a Republican administration, as I said in the instance of the Abu Ghraib scandal, the prison in Iraq (chuckles), Bush may well have been there and put those people in that pyramid shape! He may as well have sent a memo and ordered them to do what they were doing to those prisoners. That’s the difference. Now, there’s another scandal.

This is from the Washington Examiner: “Conservative groups seeking information from the Environmental Protection Agency have been routinely hindered by fees normally waived for media and watchdog groups, while fees for more than 90% of requests from green groups were waived, according to requests reviewed by the Competitive Enterprise Institute.” So no matter where you go in the Obama administration, you’re gonna find conservatives obstructed; you’re gonna find the way paved for leftists.

“The House Committee on Energy and Commerce sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announcing an investigation into recent reports that HHS is soliciting funds to support Obamacare.” That’s the subject of our Morning Update today. Kathleen Sebelius was out hitting up people that she’s going to be regulating for donations, money, and support for Obamacare.

And, of course, there’s an implied: “Give us money, and we’ll the other way when it comes to you.” He’s out essentially bribing people, or purchasing people, in violation of the law. The secretary Health and Human Services is not permitted by law to do what she’s been doing, but it’s just like Eric Holder and just like Obama. A woman is not gonna be removed from a position of high authority. An African-American is not going to be removed from the presidency or from the attorney general position.

It isn’t gonna happen, no matter what.

There might be impeachment proceedings down the road, but there’s not gonna be any conviction, and there isn’t going to be any removal from office. It isn’t gonna happen. The people of this country, I’m telling you, wouldn’t put up with it. They would not. No matter what, they wouldn’t put up with it.
