RUSH: Some people might say, "Well, Rush, this is too little, too late." No, it isn't. No, it's not. This is just the first year of the second term, and nothing is etched in stone yet.
RUSH: Scalia's dissent today in the Defense of Marriage Act decision, I'm gonna read portions of it to you. It is unlike any dissent by any justice I've ever read about any case. And that's because Scalia says that the majority in the DOMA ruling was unlike any majority that this court has ever produced, that it was filled with venom and rage. If Scalia's dissent is right, what it means is that the common, ordinary fisticuff arguments between left and right in this country have now taken over the Supreme Court. And the law and judicial restraint, temperament and all that has evaporated. And the court is no different than a barroom now.
RUSH: Just 18 months ago -- leading up to the 2012 presidential election -- Barack Obama opposed gay marriage.
RUSH: If there is one thing that is responsible for -- some of you might call it the "corruption," but if there's one thing that is responsible for -- the never-ending assault on traditions and institutions that define this country, it is the concept, as used and proselytized by the left, of "fairness."
RUSH: I still have this gut feeling or whatever it is, and it might be just silly, blind, you know, beauty pageant contestant faith that this is all gonna work out.
RUSH: So what used to be a big pile of money that you had a chance to access -- a growing pie of wealth that you had a chance to attack and get your piece of -- is getting smaller and smaller. The pie is getting smaller. Your opportunities to get your piece of it is getting smaller and smaller because the government's taking more and more of it.
