RUSH: We're coming up on the one-year anniversary of Benghazi, and pressure is on John Boehner to do something. Could we have some investigations into this? It's going the opposite way, actually. Again from The Daily Beast. I mean, this is Tina Brown, you know, gossip maven. This is her website.
"Secretary of State John Kerry has determined that the four State Department officials placed on administrative leave by Hillary Clinton after the terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi do not deserve any formal disciplinary action and has asked them to come back to work at the State Department starting Tuesday."
Now, these are the four people, you remember, they testified, they were put on administrative leave by Hillary. They got paid during this entire time. So this was nothing more than a show. It was nothing more than optics. It was nothing more than the regime trying to make people think that they were taking it seriously, when they take this no more seriously than what we've learned at the IRS and the scandal there. The whole thing's a cover-up. The whole thing is optics. The whole thing is a distraction.
Now, let's put aside for the moment whether these people were scapegoats or not. What it means is that not one single person has been punished for what happened in Benghazi, not one person. If there was ever an event where heads should have rolled, that is it.
"Last December, Clinton’s staff told four midlevel officials to clean out their desks and hand in their badges after the release of the report of its own internal investigation into the Benghazi attack, compiled by the Administrative Review Board led by former State Department official Tom Pickering and former Joint Chiefs chairman Ret. Adm. Mike Mullen. Those four officials have been in legal and professional limbo, not fired but unable to return to their jobs, for eight months ... until today."
But they got paid. Paychecks kept rolling in. So they were essentially on an eight-month paid vacation, and they also know now they had better not speak out of turn. So everything we know about Benghazi -- and we don't know nearly enough, but we know that four Americans died. We know that there were a lot of CIA personnel on the ground. We know that it wasn't necessary. We know there was something else going on there. We know that it had nothing to do with a video. We know that it had nothing to do with protests earlier in the day in Cairo. We know that it was a planned, organized, scripted terror attack, and it was known in advance, it was suspected in advance.
Nothing was done to stop it, from beginning -- I mean nothing to stop it taking place, and once it started, nothing was done to stop it. Four Americans died needlessly. And at the end of 10 months, 11 months, nothing. Nothing to see here. Meanwhile, the parents of the victims and others are still suffering. They're in great pain seeking answers that are not forthcoming. This is just absurd. It's ridiculous and it's Orwellian. It's a great illustration of what happens with an all-powerful government with no checks and balances, one that's out to protect and shield itself at all costs.
RUSH: Go back to the phones. Maple Grove, Minnesota. This is Chris. Great to have you on the EIB Network. Hi.
CALLER: Hey, Rush. Mega-optimistic dittos from my wife, Jan, and six budding conservatives. So I wanted to let you know that.
RUSH: Thank you very much. I appreciate that.
CALLER: We are not going to allow Democrats make us unhappy, hard as they try. Hey, I was listening to you talk about the Leahy leaking and the aid to Egypt, and it's our president's way of voting "present," and it struck me. Remember what they can have last week about playing cards during the bin Laden raid?
RUSH: Yeah, that was from Reggie Love told us about that.
CALLER: Yes. So let's think about this. Obviously that was a leak they didn't want to get out, but if he steps out of the room --
RUSH: No, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. I take that back. No, no, no. He wanted it out. Reggie Love wouldn'ta gone out there if they didn't want it leaked. Reggie Love misplayed it, but they were trying to do with that. Reggie Love was trying to invoke empathy. He was trying to make people feel sorry, or he wanted people to know how hard Obama was, so hard he had to take a break and play cards. He can't watch that. He can't be in that room all that time. It's too... He's gotta take a break; he's gotta recharge. That was purposely done.
CALLER: It may be purposely done, but just think about this. If he's outs playing cards, and may not have known that, if the bin Laden raid goes wrong, it's the CIA and the Navy's problem. If he's not paying close attention. Again, I think it's the same way of him playing it both ways. He had it set up so he could play win or lose. It's all him or the CIA.
RUSH: Well --
CALLER: You know, "I just gave them the okay."
RUSH: Let me tell you.
CALLER: I wasn't even around.
RUSH: I don't think that there is any doubt that Obama is fully aware that he has managed to be able to insulate himself from anything that goes wrong. He's got media assistance. He's got his own behavioral techniques. So I think you're right. I think has a totally confident that whatever goes wrong, he can see to it he's not held accountable, and when it goes right, he's out there claiming he pulled the trigger while dealing a hand of Spades. That's essentially the Limbaugh Theorem. I couldn't agree with you more.
