RUSH: I want to take you back to this program on November 3rd of 2008. This is the day before Barack Obama was elected. November 4, 2008 was Election Day. I listen to this and I actually get sick. Cookie will give me the sound bites of all the things that I said prior to Obama being elected, after he was elected and before he was immaculated. And in all the predictions I’ve made before he was nominated, before he was elected, before he was inaugurated, they’ve all been true. Every damn one of them has come true, and it just makes me sick. Honestly, folks. Listen to this. November 3rd, 2008, as I was desperately trying to get the country to understand what was at stake.

RUSH ARCHIVE: This is what Obama wants to do, folks. Obama doesn’t just want to, in his distorted, perverted mind, he doesn’t want to just equalize the United States. It’s not just about spreading the wealth domestically. This guy has, I fear, as his number one desire, to tear down the greatness of this country so that we are not better than any other nation. I think that is his aim. A lone superpower in the world is destabilizing. We either need to get rid of ourselves as a superpower or allow another one to evolve.

RUSH: The day before the election. I was desperate. I was shouting from the rooftops. I was begging everybody to listen to me. The guy wanted to cut this country down to size. The guy thought this country was unjust, immoral, and unconsciously founded. Not unconsciously. Just unjustly founded. We didn’t deserve superpower status, and by god, we weren’t gonna be one if he was elected. He was gonna tear this country back down again so we would find out what it was like for other countries to be treated the way we treated them.

So much of this has come true. And then yesterday the piece de resistance. A former — I guess former, maybe still Republican, no less, the estimable Chuck Hagel, who is now the secretary of defense for Barack Obama, made an announcement during a press conference at the Pentagon to talk about budget priorities and proposed cuts to reduce the size of the US military. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what he said.

HAGEL: We are entering an era where American dominance on the seas, in the skies, and in space can no longer be taken for granted.

RUSH: It is the end of American military dominance. That was announced yesterday by a Republican secretary of defense working for the Democrat Barack Obama. So, Mike, would you do me a favor, play cut two and three again back-to-back, one right after the other.

HAGEL: We are entering an era where American dominance on the seas, in the skies, and in space can no longer be taken for granted.

RUSH: We’re just gonna make budget cuts in the military that we all predicted, ladies and gentlemen. It wasn’t just me. It wasn’t just I. There were any number of us on the right begging, pleading with the American people to hear us as we forecast what was coming. Doesn’t matter how we knew. We knew because we knew who he was. We knew who he is. He had told everybody, it wasn’t a mystery. The media just didn’t report it to everybody else, but we knew. We had gone back, we’d heard him, we’d read his speeches and books. We knew exactly what he intended. We were desperate for people to hear it.

So here we are five years in. The economy is wrecked. The health care system is totally taken over and rendered useless. Consumer confidence is way down. You know what happened in the housing industry. You know what’s not happening in the job market. College graduates don’t have anything to do. We got full-time work being pared down to part-time work. We got 92 million Americans not working. It’s not an accident. It’s not even a coincidence.

“President Barack Obama will sharply cut ships, aircraft, and troops as part of a major reduction of U.S. military forces that will face even steeper downsizing in 2016, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced on Monday. The defense cuts, to be announced formally in the presidentÂ’s budget proposal next month, would reduce US ground forces to their lowest level since World War II at a time when world threats are increasing.”

The world is as unstable as ever. Putin is attempting to reassemble the Soviet Union. We know what’s happening in the Middle East in Syria and Iran, and we are standing by doing nothing. China is building a blue water navy. “Mr. Limbaugh, what do you mean by blue water?” Ocean navy instead of a river navy. It would be a brown water navy if it were for rivers ’cause they’re so polluted. They’re building a blue water navy, which means for the ocean. The ChiComs are ramping up.

“Several new weapons systems will be slashed and older weapons retired. The military cutbacks have been a central feature of ObamaÂ’s policies since 2009,” when he was immaculated into office. “According to former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, in his recently published book Duty, since entering office, the president has worked to cut US defenses in order to use the funds for domestic programs,” like food stamps. However, that’s just the practical on-the-surface result. The motivation for this is what is hideous, the reason for doing this. It isn’t just to transfer the expenditures from defense to social and create dependence and keep Democrats in power.

There’s something more hideous to this, folks. And it is what it is. And it is about reducing the power and the glory of the United States, because in the minds of these collective leftists, it was never warranted. It was never deserved. We were the problem in the world. We and our military were the focus of evil. We imposed ourselves on free people. And we took their resources, like their oil, and we took their diamonds, and we took their minerals, and we took everything to make ourselves a superpower and made them poor. We didn’t pay them for what we stole, in essence. It’s time that we were cut down to size.

This has been coming. It was easily predictable because Obama said that this was his agenda, if you paid attention. But people didn’t want to pay attention to it, either didn’t think it possible or didn’t care, and maybe thought it was a good thing since they’d been so brainwashed into thinking Iraq was such a disaster. But of course take a look at the body count in Afghanistan under Obama and compare it to the body count in Iraq under Bush. It’s not a contest anymore. But you don’t hear about it. Where is the anti-war movement? It doesn’t exist, does it, when Democrats are in office?

Richard Cohen in the Washington Post — he’s a Democrat, he’s a liberal — he watched Susan Rice on the Sunday morning shows Sunday, and he was appalled. His column’s headline: “Susan Rice and the Retreat of American Power,” and he even calls out David Gregory for sitting there and flatlining, because what Rice did… They were talking about Syria, and Susan Rice said, “Well, the alternative here is to intervene with American boots on the ground, as some have argued, and I think the judgment that the US has made and the president has made is that that’s not in our interests,” and Gregory sat there and flatlined.

He did not ask Susan Rice, “Wait, wait. Who has advocated boots on the ground?” Because nobody has. Nobody has advocated boots on the ground in Syria, and yet here’s Susan Rice creating an Obama straw dog, which is what he always does. “Well, contrary to what some have argued, we should not put…” Nobody’s argued that we should. Anyway, “the retreat of American power.” It is taking place, it is being done purposefully, and it was known that this was going to happen should Obama win way back in 2008.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Herb in Summerville, South Carolina. Really appreciate you waiting, and welcome to the program.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. You’re gonna have to forgive me if I shake a little bit. I’m 87 and kind of shaking trying to keep this phone still on my ear. I’m calling about the downsizing that I heard about yesterday, and it did raise a bit of concern. I talked to you once before about an aide to the prime minister of Canada making some derogatory or disparaging remarks about President Bush. But what I’m talking about this time is the downsizing. That kind of concerned me just a little bit in this sense. The Monroe Doctrine, I often wondered about that. It applies to the Americas, and we always think primarily of the Americas as sort of south of the border down through Mexico, down through that area. What I’m thinking about is the Monroe Doctrine relative to Canada. Canada has been able to get by, I think, really 37 million people, 330 million in America, been able to get by because America’s always been here. The American military is our military. I’m Canadian-American. I’ve been here most of my life. You’ll have to excuse me if I kind of slip a little bit here, but the American military is our military. But on the other hand it’s been the world’s military, too, whether they like it or not, because many of these countries are able to —

RUSH: Well, but it’s not anymore, that’s the point.

CALLER: The what?

RUSH: It isn’t anymore.

CALLER: Well, I wished it were. It bothers me a little bit.

RUSH: A little bit? It should bother everybody a lot. I think it does bother you a lot, more than you —

CALLER: Yes, it does. I think of the —

RUSH: The Monroe Doctrine, do you realize how many Americans have no idea what the Monroe Doctrine is? You’re 87 years old. Of course you’re gonna know what the Monroe Doctrine is. You’re 87. You’re gonna know all kinds of things that aren’t even taught anymore, Herb, which is the sad reality. How many college graduates today are hearing Monroe Doctrine, “Monroe Doctrine? What the hell is that?” And then you tell them what it is, and, “Well, we can’t enforce that anymore. We don’t have the right to enforce that. Who gives us the right?”

That’s what’s being taught now. “Who gave us the right to enforce the Monroe Doctrine? James Monroe? Well, who was he? That’s what’s wrong with America. We never had the right to enforce that kind of thing. We can’t treat other countries that way. We can’t set boundaries and say you can’t cross ’em.” And Obama’s fixing that now. He’s downsizing the US military. He’s gonna increase food stamp expenditures and other things. But he’s downsizing the US military because he wants to downsize the United States of America. Herb, I appreciate the call.
