Chilling: UK Politician Arrested for Quoting Churchill

RUSH: This really happened.  "A candidate in the European elections was arrested on suspicion of racial harassment after quoting a passage about Islam."  But wait.  But wait.  He quoted Winston Churchill, a British candidate, European elections, arrested on suspicion of racial harassment after quoting Churchill during a campaign speech.

"Paul Weston, chairman of the party Liberty GB, made the address on the steps of Winchester Guildhall, in Hampshire on Saturday. A member of the public took offence at the quote, taken from Churchill's The River War and called police."  So it takes just one person to claim that they were offended.

"The passage from the book, written by the wartime Prime Minister and first published in 1899, focuses on Churchill's observations about Islam while serving during the Anglo-Egyptian reconquest of the Sudan. Mr Weston told his audience: 'Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live."

Churchill wrote that, this guy quoted Churchill, and a member of the audience calls the cops and has him arrested.  Can you imagine an American being arrested for quoting Abraham Lincoln or quoting JFK or LBJ or FDR?  But that's what happened.  Mr. Westin was quoting Churchill.  "Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.  No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith."

It kind of dovetails what Thomas Jefferson said about it, but somebody in the audience was profoundly offended and called the cops and this guy ends up being arrested.  Now, folks, this is the kind of stuff that happens on our long march to total conformity of thought.  Start prosecuting people for saying politically incorrect things.  That's been going on in Europe and even Canada for some time.  But to be arrested for quoting Winston Churchill, that's pretty rich, and it actually happened.

Benghazi E-mails Show Regime Effort to Protect Obama

RUSH: Now the Benghazi thing.  Turns out it was not the Drive-Bys that uncovered this, so my instincts still hold.  The Drive-Bys have not turned on Obama.  What this was -- and it's devastating, by the way -- it's a freedom of information, FOIA, Freedom of Information Act request from Judicial Watch.  And here's a report from the

Washington Free Beacon on the Judicial Watch e-mails.

"Benghazi Emails Show White House Effort to Protect Obama -- Staff attempted to insulate president’s policies from criticism ahead of election." It's everything that we knew!  It's everything we suspected about Benghazi.  And remember, we still don't know where Obama was for five to seven hours.  The president of the United States was off the grid.  At five o'clock, in the middle of the attack, the last he says to Hillary and Panetta or whoever it was (paraphrasing), "You guys handle it, take care of it," and he's gone.  So goes the story.

And now we've got these e-mails saying that the White House staff redid the talking points.  They massaged everything in order to protect Obama, plausible deniability, to make it appear, running of the election, Obama had no clue what was going on. It was not his policy, this or that. He was not involved. Whatever it took, the White House did.  That's the latest from this release from Benghazi.  And, yeah, it's too late for 2012, but it's not too late for November this year, folks.
