RUSH: Last night John McCain was madder than I've seen him in a long time. He was on Greta last night, and for him, he was furious.
He lashed into Obama. McCain said, and I quote (impression), "It's cowardly! It's cowardly! It's very cowardly, cowardly! It's cowardly not to help people who are begging for our help to eject people who are invading the country." I thought for a moment he was talking about the Southern border. He actually said, "It's cowardly not to help people who are begging for our help to eject people who are invading their country."
He was talking about Israel, but for a moment I thought he was talking about America. He was mad about what's happening in Israel and Ukraine. Now don't get the wrong idea. McCain has not come out in favor of securing our border. He was attacking Obama for not helping Ukraine. I probably had you going there for a minute.
What McCain was actually talking about is the report that Ukraine begged the US for anti-missile defense equipment months ago. Did you hear about this? This is all part of the agreement that we made with 'em that predates Obama. We wanted the Ukrainians to disarm, and in exchange we promised them protection. We said, "If anybody comes after you, we'll help you out," and we haven't helped 'em out.
People have come after 'em, and so they actually begged Obama for anti-missile defense equipment months ago, and it was denied. That's what McCain was all upset about. That equipment might have, who knows, it might have prevented the shoot-down of the Malaysian Airlines Flight 17. But naturally Obama refused them. He doesn't want to risk angering Putin -- and that's the truth, too.
For some reason... Remember before the 2012 election there was an open mic and Obama was talking to Dmitry Medvedev, and Obama didn't know the mic was live, and he was caught saying to Dmitry, "Now, look, Dmitry. Tell Vlad I'm gonna have a lot more flexibility with these nuclear weapons after the election." Meaning: "You tell Vlad to cool his jets. You tell Vlad to hang on. Hang in there, be tough.
"Once I win reelection, I'll be able to take care of this." He was talking about nuclear missile or nuclear warhead reduction. Now, I don't want to go out on a limb and say Obama is afraid of Putin, but you could be excused for thinking so, because it's clear that he doesn't want to anger Putin. He doesn't want to taunt Putin. He doesn't want to challenge Putin in any way, shape, manner, or form.
RUSH: One quick thing here. "Migrant Children are No-Shows at Dallas Immigration Hearings -- The youths were among 20 from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala who were set to appear in federal immigration court Tuesday for initial deportation hearings. But they weren't there -- 18 of the children whose cases were set to be heard didn’t show up Tuesday for court." Such naughty scamps!
They gave their word they would show up. What happened? They promised. They promised that they were gonna be there and they didn't show up, and now they're in the shadows. "It was an absentee rate that federal Immigration Judge Michael Baird said was 'highly unusual,'" 18 out of 20, "so high that he reset the hearings for August 11 rather than possibly issuing a deportation order," 'cause that ain't gonna happen.
We're not gonna deport them because they're future Democrats.
RUSH: Look, I'm not gonna have time to get to the sound bites, but here's the deal, the latest on the Tony Dungy thing. Since everybody started coming down on Dungy for saying he wouldn't have drafted Michael Sam, the sports media has now decided to turn its attentions to another person in the league office. They're going after David Tyree, former Giants wide receiver. He's the guy who made the miraculous helmet catch in the Super Bowl where they beat the New England Patriots.
He was just hired as the New York Giants Director of Player Development. Meaning, he keeps the guys off the streets. No. He deals with the pro players and helps develop them from rookies. It's a roster position, deals with rostered employees. But his sin? He's an open Christian and he's opposed to gay marriage, and he has said so. David Tyree. He's now the next target. And I've got a couple of sound bites I wanted to get to, but darn it, I'll just have to do that tomorrow.
