RUSH: Does the name Tom Steyer ring a bell? We've mentioned him on this program before. He's a billionaire, Hollywood environmentalist wacko. He is one of the primary reasons Obama has not signed the Keystone XL pipeline agreement, because this guy threatened to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars in donations the Democrat Party at large. He's not the lone reason, but he's a main reason. He made his money in the coal business. He made his money in conventional energy, and now he's become a wacko.
He's a hedge fund manager now. "Tom Steyer attempted to explain why there is still a sizable portion of Americans that do not buy in to global warming alarmism by, basically, generalizing virtually all of America as not 'super sophisticated.' Speaking at a climate conference hosted by the American Renewable Energy Institute, Steyer said: 'I think if you were to go around to most of the -- what I would think of as super-sophisticated people who think about politics and policy more than five minutes a month -- we are doing really well.'"
But people who are not sophisticated (i.e., the idiots), they're the ones we have to reach. "And the question in the United States of America is how are we doing with everybody else, which is the 99.5% of the people whose lives are very busy and complicated," and they're not sophisticated and they don't get it? The point being: Here we have another arrogant, condescending liberal who thinks the only reason his stupid pet issue does not enjoy majority support is because the people are stupid and unsophisticated.
RUSH: I've had this story for the past couple of days. There is a solar plant in California -- a giant, giant array of solar panels -- killing 30 birds an hour. They are being immolated in midair. They literally leave a brief plume of spoke and a medium-well cooked carcass as they fly over the place. I am not kidding. It's like... Well, it is. It's like Star Wars.
"Federal wildfire officials counted an average of one streamer," which means bird killed flying over panel, "every two minutes. The energy company estimates only 1,000 birds are scorched every year, but a prominent environmentalist group puts the number 28,000." But it's okay because it's people like Tom Steyer: Super-sophisticated environmentalist wackos who know that human beings are destroying the planet. It's okay when they do their good works if animals die. That's the price we pay. I'm not making it up. Wind turbines kill bald eagles. Solar farms are roasting any bird unlucky enough to fly overhead.
RUSH: Monrovia, Liberia. Officials there "fear that Ebola could soon spread through the capital's largest slum after residents raided a quarantine center for suspected patients and took items, including bloody sheets and mattresses." What happened here is, armed men went into an Ebola clinic in Liberia and freed the patients. One of the theories to explain this is that the people that lived in Monrovia were all fed up with the fact that these patients were brought there. It made the residents of a slum that's called West Point mad and scared that the virus was being brought into their town. They don't trust the government to deal with it. So they let the infected patients loose, hoping they would leave.
There's sheer panic spreading about this in Africa.
