RUSH: Grab sound bite number 19, John Boehner, the Speaker of the House. By the way, the Republican Party is leaving Washington. The Republicans have left town with no plan to deal with this, and it’s not as though they were blindsided. Anyway, this was at a little press event that the Speaker had on Capitol Hill today. Just a little portion. We got about 45 seconds of it.

BOEHNER: All year long, I’ve warned the president that by taking unilateral action on matters such as this health care law or by threatening action repeatedly on immigration, he was making it impossible to build the trust necessary to work together. As I warned the president, you can’t ask the elected representatives of the people to trust you to enforce the law if you’re constantly demonstrating that you can’t be trusted to enforce the law. The president never listened, and with this action he’s refused to listen to the American people. The president has taken actions that he himself has said are those of a king or an emperor, not an American president.

RUSH: Yeah, he did. Yeah, he did. Okay. He did.

Now what?

This is what everybody wants to know here. Everybody knows what he did. Most everybody. I maintain that even people like Geraldo and these others that are applauding and this Ramos guy from Univision, all know it’s the legal. It’s just that some of them are celebrating it. But they all know, and everybody knows it’s unconstitutional.

So?

It’s literally mind-boggling.

So many people are apparently of the belief that the illegal or unconstitutional act alone is enough to engender corrective measures in response, and we’re seeing that it just doesn’t work that way. So the Constitution is still full of holes.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s Robert in Waldorf, Maryland, as we head to the phones on Open Line Friday. Great to have you on the program. Hello, sir.

CALLER: How you doing, Rush? How you hitting ’em?

RUSH: Pretty good. Well, hitting? Actually, since you ask, I’m crushing ’em.

CALLER: Too cold up here to hit ’em.

RUSH: Well, that’s why I don’t live up there.

CALLER: That’s terrible. But I’ve been listening to you every day. You keep me well educated and I thank you for that. But I got a different way of looking at it and I wanted to run it by you. I think that maybe Obama just blew up the Democrat Party, ’cause to me as long as the Republicans don’t get their hand in this, this is now on him and the Democrats, and I just think that that’s gonna backfire on them.

The people were already mad two weeks ago. The people were pretty clear to me what they said two weeks ago, and basically last night he flipped all of us the bird. But I think by him doing this, he just blew up the whole Democrat Party, and I heard you yesterday say they’re gonna march on and all, but I think he really did them great damage yesterday.

RUSH: Well, you heard me correctly yesterday, and I was trying to make a point with it. I’m not trying to say it’s not important to beat them in elections; it is. But that’s not all that we have to do to stop them. You gotta do more than win elections, is my point. They’ve got a whole wing of that party that doesn’t care whether they win or lose elections.

They’re gonna keep implementing their agenda and corrupting as much of the country as they can — behind the scenes that nobody notices — whether they win elections or not. But that was just to clarify what I said yesterday. You think that the Democrats had their hat handed to ’em. You think that Obama has really put an albatross around their neck with this. “As long as the Republicans stay out of this,” is that what you said?

CALLER: Yes, sir. You know —

RUSH: What do you mean by that? What do you mean, “as long as the Republicans stay out of it”?

CALLER: Well, number one, I think, Rush, the impeachment thing. They don’t have 67 votes, so that’s a moot point there.

RUSH: They’re not even talking about it.

CALLER: But I’m just saying as in general. That’s just the way people talk about it.

RUSH: But they’re not talking about it. It’s not an issue.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: They’re not gonna do it. They’ve already said so.

CALLER: And if they go out and take up this immigration issue, this is a hot issue. You know that. Country wide, I don’t know what the polls are. It’s 58% of people or whatever it is are against amnesty.

RUSH: Doesn’t matter.

CALLER: So as long as they don’t touch it, it’s wrapped up. He’s got it around his neck; he’s got it around the Democrat Party’s neck.

RUSH: Okay. So let me see. What we’re supposed to do… I just want to understand your theory. What we’re supposed to do is pretty much replicate what we did during the election: “Just shut up! Just let him do this stuff, shut up, and let him kill Democrat Party?”

CALLER: To me, the only chance we have is getting the White House in ’16 and reversing this. If we do not get the White House in the next election, we’re never gonna turn this stuff around, Rush.

RUSH: I don’t disagree with that. Hey, you don’t have to be contentious with me. I’m not disagreeing.

CALLER: I’d never be contentious with you, sir. You taught me everything I know. You taught me how to read the green on the green

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: I can read Bermuda greens with the best of them, sir.

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: Rush, I love what you do. I appreciate all you taught me.

RUSH: I love that. He’s talking about reading greens, Bermuda greens and so forth. Yeah. That’s so great. You can spot the grain?

CALLER: Yes, sir.

RUSH: All right.

CALLER: Yes, sir.

RUSH: All right. Well, look, before you go here, Robert, let me tell you what I think. Let me tell you what I fear. I think Obama is watching right now. I think Obama is taking note of how little anger, protest, opposition there really is. I mean, it might be in the polls, but Obama is taking the measure right now of how much more of this he can do in the next two years with as little opposition as he thinks he’s gonna get. I guarantee you he’s only just begun here, Robert. We haven’t even started the final two years.

CALLER: I know. That’s what I said.

RUSH: He has just blown up the Constitution, and as far as he’s concerned, life is going on as normal. There’s not a single protest about it. There’s not one Republican leader threatening to do anything about it, and I think Obama is saying, “I’ve got a free road. There’s no stopping me. I can do anything!”

CALLER: But it’s not the first time he’s done it. I mean, you go back —

RUSH: No, but my point is while he may have saddled the Democrat Party with a really, really bad situation here — that all may be correct — it isn’t going to affect him in any way. It’s not gonna matter to him what happens to the Democrat Party because of what he’s done. If he sees… Look at what he just did, folks! He just looked the Constitution in the eye and basically wadded it up and threw it away, and nobody is saying a word! I guarantee you he’s thinking he’s got smooth sailing for the last two years. This is just the beginning. That’s what I’m really concerned about.
