RUSH: James in Houston, you’re next, sir, on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hello, Rush. How are you doing today? Quick comment, listening to whatever that was last night by our president.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: You know, I remember a Democrat very boldly said, “Don’t ask what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” And then this guy’s up there saying how much the government can hand out to people at the expense of breaking the bridge at some point.

RUSH: Isn’t it amazing?

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I mean, that’s John F. Kennedy, that’s 1960. So that’s, what, 55 years ago. Ask not what your country can do; ask what you can do for your country. You’d be laughed out of the place today. JFK would not be at home in the Democrat Party today.

CALLER: Yeah, it seems like the Democrats have changed to, you know, trying to best run the country into the ground.

RUSH: Well, you know, that’s true, but, hey, James, it’s not just the Democrats that have changed. There are a lot of Americans who’ve fallen for it. There are a lot of Americans who, “Hey, I don’t want to, you know, what are you gonna do for me?” Entitlement means being an American, or American means being entitled.

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: The Democrats have done that. They have succeeded in persuading a whole lot of people. I don’t think we’ve reached a tipping point on it, folks. I really don’t. The election returns are one bit of evidence, but I just don’t. I think more and more people are repulsed by this. I actually think more and more people are cynically turning away from Washington. You talk about overkill.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s Chris in Pittsburgh, I’m glad you waited, sir, great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Good afternoon. How are you?

RUSH: I’m great. Thank you.

CALLER: Thank you. Been waiting to call on this subject for a long time about this rich and bashing the rich and everyone seems to want to go against the rich. Well, I’m a private chef and I’ve worked for the rich for the last 23 years.

RUSH: Yes.

CALLER: And I have, shall I say, personal insight into how things really work with these people. It’s interesting that, for example, the person I work for now employs 37,000 people within his corporation.

RUSH: Oh.

CALLER: Well, if taxes go up for him, he will not be hurt. However, all of those employees, probably about 80% of whom are union, will be impacted and hurt.

RUSH: How so?

CALLER: Well, if he decides to not take some of his money and grow his company because tax and regulation is —

RUSH: That’s exactly right. That’s exactly what happens. Look, I say they fail to admit. The Democrats know the dynamics of this. They know full well what’s gonna happen with these tax increases. People are gonna get hurt. Doesn’t matter. The image they create for themselves, caring for the little guy, that’s all they care about, not reality. It’s the image of it all, it’s the PR that they want the credit for.
