RUSH:  This is Timothy, Lompoc, California.  Great to have you with us, sir.  Hello.

CALLER: (garbled cell) Hello, Rush.  I’m glad to talk to you.  I believe it’s time for the all-knowing, all-seeing El Rushbo — the omniscient one — to come out and finally endorse Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee.

RUSH:  You know —

CALLER:  You know (garbled) endorsed him.  I think if you came out with your endorsement, you would also almost ensure his election.

RUSH:  You know, in the words of a famous and well-known politician, “What difference does it make now?”

CALLER:  Your endorsement is that important, and it’s about time you did it.

RUSH:  Trump needs my endorse…?  Look, the primaries are still going on out there.

CALLER:  The primaries are over with, Rush.

RUSH: I mean, Ted Cruz picked up (laughing) delegates in Washington. (laughing) Did you hear that?

CALLER:  (garbled) The primaries are over.  Come on! You need to endorse him.  Why don’t you?

RUSH:  Yeah, the primaries are over June 7th after California.  There’s still anything can happen out there.

CALLER:  It’s over, Rush.

RUSH:  I can’t believe you think it matters now.

CALLER:  You (unintelligible) gave him their endorsement.

RUSH:  Is there a prison in Lompoc?

CALLER:  (garbled) What are you waiting for?

RUSH:  I think it’s a moot point now! Look, I’ve never endorsed in primaries.  I’ve never made it a big deal.  I’ve tried to always downplay it to boot.  I don’t live under any delusions here that people are going to make up their minds on these serious things just ’cause I happen to tell people who I’m for.  Anyway, I appreciate the concern, I appreciate the desire to help, I appreciate the offer of assistance, and the advice.  But it hasn’t even crossed my mind. (chuckling) I think endorsing Trump at this stage is like a, “Oh, really?  Where you been?  So what?”

It’s not what I do.  But I appreciate the thought.  I’m very much appreciative, very appreciative of the fact that you want me to appear to be relevant, engaged, and purposeful in this — or, not purposeful, but relevant, engaged, and influential in this.  I appreciate that.  I know that’s what you want.  I understand that.  I do.  But I must be true to my instincts, which I always have been.
