Story #1: Ayers Has N. Vietnamese Ring Made from US Planes
RUSH: By the way, I learned something today about these two -- Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. In the late sixties, both were presented rings from the North Vietnamese. Ayers got his in Canada. I forget where Bernardine Dohrn got hers, but the rings were made from US aircraft shot down by the North Vietnamese.
You think Jane Fonda was bad, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, the mentors of Barack Obama, received rings for their anti-American work! And, in fact, the Cubans allowed Bernardine Dohrn to establish a Students for Democrat Society operation based out of Cuba. So about these rings, for their fingers, made from US aircraft shot down over North Vietnam -- when Bill Ayers received his ring from the North Vietnamese in Canada, he had to leave the room in tears. He was so moved by the gesture, he said that he realized he was living in evil -- the United States -- and that he was in the belly of the beast. It wasn't just 40 years ago that Bill Ayers tried to blow up some buildings. It wasn't just 40 years ago that he was moved to tears with a gift of a ring from the North Vietnamese. And yet, Obama says, "Well, you can't hold a guy engaging in this stuff 40 years ago." Ayers still has the same mind-set about his country. These people are desperate.
Story #2: Obama Attends Fundraiser in Midst of Depression?
RUSH: By the way, while all this financial turmoil is going on, Obama is close to raising $400 million. He has this giant fundraiser in Hollywood tonight; $28,500 bucks to get in, Barbra Streisand singing. Now, in the midst of a depression? How sensitive is that?
Story #3: Obama Rejects Dingy Harry Reid's Request for Money
RUSH: From the Politico: "Earlier this month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made a personal appeal to Barack Obama: Help me grow the Democrats' Senate majority by sharing some of the $77 million you've got in the bank. Obama's campaign said no." So not only is this guy rich, raising $400 million, hanging around with Barbara Streisand tonight, headlining a multi-million fundraiser while we're in the throes of a depression -- he's stingy! He's a cheap little SOB! He is a tightwad! Harry Reid comes begging hat in hand, and Obama says, "Go to hell, Harry! Handle your own reelection, pal, I got my own problems here." Ha!
"Although Democratic insiders say a better deal could still come" -- what, a better deal than nothing? -- "the Obama campaign so far has agreed only to let Senate Democrats use Obama's name. In rejecting a direct request from his Senate leader, Obama has put a fine point on the financial pressures he’s feeling as the presidential race turns toward the fall."
Yeah, he's going to raise more money than anybody ever has, $400 million, but he told Dingy Harry, "You're on your own, but if you want to use my name, if you want to put The Messiah in your campaign ads, you can do that." Sheesh. I wonder how little this guy gives to charity? I mean, telling Dingy Harry to go to hell? I guess Obama thinks as The Messiah he's not going to need a majority in the Senate because the Senate's won't matter -- he's just going to rule by decree.
Story #4: Who Does Gorelick Have Pictures of with a Goat?
RUSH: I want to know something: I want to know with whom Jamie Gorelick has pictures of with a goat. We learned today that Jamie Gorelick was involved in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and she was part of a group of Clinton people that scored $75 million out of there. Franklin Raines paid himself a hundred million dollars out of there, and we know this woman was everywhere. She was running the justice department while Janet Reno was doing the press conferences. She was building the wall between the intelligence agencies looking into terrorist activities and so forth. This woman was literally everywhere in the Clinton administration, and she ended up on the 9/11 Commission on the Democrat side, so she's gotta have pictures of somebody with a goat.
Story #5: Charlie Rangel Enters Dan Rostenkowski Territory
RUSH: Charlie Rangel is becoming the new version of Dan "Rosty" Rostenkowski. Rostenkowski, you'll remember, was forced out of office. Anyway, "Charlie Rangel says he will hire a forensic accountant to untangle his confusing and error-prone financial records and eventually will make public his tax returns and the accountant's report." A forensic accountant? He is going to release the details after the forensic accountant covers up the fraud, is what this means? "The announcement came yesterday as Rangel faced new questions about his annual financial disclosure filings, prompting a meeting with Pelosi." A very tepid endorsement of Charlie Rangel. This is a Washington Post story, by the way. What they highlight here is that Rangel low balled reporting on a Florida condo and then laid it off on his wife. He reports seven out of 20 trips to the Caribbean in the South Pacific. Here are the details: "Alma Rangel bought the condominium in Sunny Isles Beach, Fla., for $335,000 in 2004 and sold it two years later for $405,000, records show."
Now, Charlie Rangel makes$ 140,000 or so, maybe 50, I don't know what. He lives in Harlem. He's got four rent stabilized apartments, one of which he was using as a campaign office. These people are just 100% total hacks and frauds. She, his wife, was flipping houses. During this home business, she's flipping them like everybody else was. "On disclosure forms, Rep. Rangel valued the unit at between $50,001 and $100,000 in 2004. The next year, he valued it at between $100,001 and $250,000," but yet she bought it for $335,000 in 2004, sold it for $405,000, and the top value on his forms to Congress he reported was $250,000. "In 2006, Rangel disclosed the condo sale and listed its value accurately. But he later recorded the transaction as occurring in 2007, with a value between $100,001 and $250,000."
He flat out lied! "George Dalley, Rangel's chief of staff, said in an interview that Alma Rangel bought the condo as a possible retirement home with money from the 2003 sale of their longtime Washington residence. The Florida property got little use, Rep. Rangel knew few details about it and the couple sold it two years later, Dalley said." So his wife did all this and he had no clue. "The records also show that Rangel failed to fully account for many of his privately sponsored trips to destinations such as Taiwan, Singapore and the Caribbean islands. Of 20 trips listed on his annual disclosure forms, he reported seven on the separate travel disclosure forms members must file." This is Rostenkowskitory territory. They found Rostenkowski with government furniture in his Chicago house, right?
Story #6: Huffing and Puffing: Palin Derangement Syndrome
RUSH: To give you an idea what I was talking about earlier (how bad this was going to get regarding Palin), there's a competition out there for the best Palin Derangement Syndrome -- it's either Daily Kos or Huffington Post. Paul Slansky on the Huff Post today (Huffing and Puffington Post, I should say): "The contempt John McCain has shown for the people of this country by plucking the wildly unqualified Sarah Palin to sit a cancer-prone heartbeat from the presidency leaves only one conclusion. John McCain hates America... By disregarding the kind of risk his country will be at if this know-nothing reactionary ascends to the presidency, he reveals himself not as a patriot, but rather as a traitor. If John McCain dies in office, he should be posthumously tried for treason." The Huffington Post, folks. I guess they haven't found that one offensive enough to pull down yet. You know, when these people lose, it's going to be bad.
Story #7: Obama Charitable Giving Below Average
RUSH: Okay, here's some information on Obama's charitable giving. We reported this in our May issue of the Limbaugh Letter. The Chicago Tribune found the Obamas falling well below the charitable giving average, about 4% in the years 1997 through 2005. Now, here's Obama, despite making tons more than the average middle class family, failing to give. "[B]oth Obama and his wife, Michelle, decline to respond to questions about their charitable donations." When the couple did finally cough up $60,307 to charity in 2006, $22,500 went to Reverend Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ, $13,107 went to the Congressional Black Caucus, and $5,000 went to the Muntu Dance Theater, "a south-side Chicago troupe that performs contemporary and ancient African dances." Now, remember, Obama's big claim to fame here as a community agitator and organizer is that he helped the people who lost their jobs at the steel mill, right? I don't see any donations to any steelworkers here! Reverend Wright, the Congressional Black Caucus, and the Muntu Dance Theater... I know he gave his time, I keep forgetting about that. He gave his time. You're right, Snerdley. Story #8: Parade: Rush in Top Ten Celebrity Givers to Charity
RUSH: By the way, did you people see I made the top ten celebrity list in charitable giving last year? And they underreported it! They only counted the $4.2 million to MC-LEF. You know Parade magazine had to hate reporting that I'm the number ten most generous celebrity. Heh-heh. But they didn't account for another $2.5 million, so the total's actually around $7 million, which would have moved me way up in the top ten list.
