Story #1: Rasmussen: Americans in No "Rush" for Flu Shots

RUSH: How about this headline from Rasmussen -- I wonder if this headline is an accident -- try this:  "Americans In No Rush for Flu Shots Despite Swine Flu Outbreak."  Now, wasn't it last week that the man-child president declared a national emergency over this?  Now, you would think that if there was still a whole bunch of national cult-like followers of Obama, that there would have been a mad dash to get vaccinated.  "President Obama may have declared swine flu a national emergency, but the number of Americans who plan to get a flu shot is virtually unchanged from a year ago. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 53% of adults plan to get a flu shot this year. ... Forty percent (40%) do not intend to get a flu shot," which is a good thing because there's a shortage of the stuff.

Story #2: Polls: Democrats Losing in New Jersey, Virginia

RUSH: By the way, ladies and gentlemen, I think they need to send Obama into New Jersey to help out Jon Corzine.  Latest Rasmussen Reports has Chris Christie up three points, 46 to 43 over Corzine.  This came out today.  And a final Battleground Virginia poll, I mean if this holds up, this is not just a win, this is a blowout.  Bob McDonnell now has a 17-point lead over Creigh Deeds, 58 to 41.  I saw another poll that said 51-37, but this is the Battleground poll.  This is Celinda Lake and Ed Goeas, a Republican, she's the Democrat.  So much for those commercials Obama cut for Deeds, which were really about Obama, not Deeds.

Story #3: CNN Drops to Last Place in Cable News Ratings

RUSH: Did you see this?  CNN drops to last place among cable news networks.  CNN is the outfit that invented cable news, right?  Where are they?  I am arguably the guy that invented modern talk radio and where am I?  Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.  I'll tell you what, CNN is so low when they look up they see the gutter.

Story #4: Vegas Paper Trashes Wynn for Opposing Obama

RUSH: I was out in Las Vegas, and I gotta tell you -- the Las Vegas newspaper had a big story yesterday. Steve Wynn has done a 180.  We had his sound bites on Fox News Sunday.  He is actively going to work for the defeat of President Obama.  In this article he was quoted as saying that Obama has targeted Las Vegas, and Steve Wynn was one of his early supporters.  I think Steve Wynn was one of these guys, "Ah, postpartisan, postracial, post-this, post-everything, how can we vote against this guy, first black president, historic, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah."  It was a fascinating story.  And, in fact, one of the angles that the writer took was, "All right, let's see just how much government has helped Steve Wynn."  And you know what their biggest example of the government helping Steve Wynn was?  The Internet.  Because people can now reserve hotel rooms and other services at Wynn's hotels and casinos on the Internet and who gave us the Internet?  The Pentagon in the seventies, a government program.  I didn't read the whole article but that was their first example of how Wynn has benefited from the government. Heh-heh-heh… These chumps in the media, here's the guy that largely built the modern Las Vegas, made it what it is along with a lot of other people, and the local newspaper has to trash him because he jumped on Obama while Vegas is not doing well out there. I mean, Obama said the days of getting on your plane and going to Vegas are over, and people have listened to him.

Story #5: Environmentalists Scale Back Copenhagen Hopes

RUSH: From a disappointed Associated Press: "Just weeks before an international conference on climate change, the United Nations signaled it was scaling back expectations of reaching agreement on a new treaty to slow global warming. Janos Pasztor, director of the secretary-general's Climate Change Support Team, said Monday 'it's hard to say how far the conference will be able to go' because the U.S. Congress has not agreed on a climate bill, and industrialized nations have not agreed on targets to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions or funding to help developing countries limit their discharges. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has made a new climate treaty his top priority, hosting a Sept. 22 summit on climate change to spur political support. ... Pasztor told a news conference 'there is tremendous activity by governments in capitals and internationally to shape the outcome' of the climate change conference in Copenhagen ... But he indicated that Copenhagen most likely won't produce a treaty, but instead will push governments as far as they can go on the content of an agreement."  They're losing momentum out there, if this is to be believed, scaling back expectations.  I think to the extent that this is accurate it is because Dingy Harry and his boys are nowhere near getting crap and tax here before the end of the year.  Obama's not going to go over there with a bill in hand.  He may not have his health care done by then, which is early December.

Story #6: Nutcase Leftists: How Cats and Dogs Kill the Planet

RUSH: From the UK Daily Express: "A medium-sized dog has the same carbon impact as a Toyota Land Cruiser driven 6,000 miles a year," according to a new book.  Now, folks, as I say, I do not understand how it is that any sane person can still support any of this.  "Time To Eat The Dog: The Real Guide To Sustainable Living also suggests a cat," my little Punkin, "is equivalent to running a Volkswagen Golf.  The findings are based on the amount of land needed to grow food for pets.  Even a pair of hamsters do the same damage as running a plasma television, say the book’s authors Robert and Brenda Vale.  But rabbits and chickens were eco-friendly because they provide meat for their owners, while a canary or a goldfish does little harm to the planet, the authors said."  Can you believe this?  I do.  Nutcase leftists are running around, I mean, they want no living thing on this planet, other than them.  How dogs damage the planet like a four-by-four... Sheesh.

Story #7:
Vegetarians: Stop Eating Meat to Control the Climate

RUSH:  From the UK Times this morning:  "People will need to turn vegetarian if the world is to conquer climate change, according to a leading authority on global warming.  Lord Stern of Brentford said: 'Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.'"  Now, these are the people all trying to gain control of a worldwide government to implement this stuff.  "Direct emissions of methane from cows and pigs is a significant source of greenhouse gases."  Folks, I'm going to explain something to you about vegetarianism.  Snerdley, you tell me.  What is the primary source of protein for vegetarians?  Don't give me that protein powder stuff.  Don't give me that.  Beans.  Exactly right.  You can run around and do these powder mixes, put it in your water out there, you can fool yourself, but beans are it, and we all know from the Blazing Saddles scene what happens.

So we're going to get rid of all the livestock, we're going to get rid of beef, going to get rid of cattle and all that to be replaced by a bunch of… Sigh. It's going to end up that vegetarians are causing global warming. What, Snerdley? I don't care.  Beans do.  I don't care what tofu makes you -- beans do.  Chickpeas, white beans, black beans, black-eyed pea beans, whatever they are, try it.  Navy beans...  Why not kill all the elephants and hippopotamuses and gazelles and deer and buffalo and bears, everything else?  They all expel gas, too! Where does this end? Why stop at domestic livestock? Besides, folks, there was no global warming when the buffalo were out there roaming around. It's truly inane.

Story #8: UN Grand Poobah Moon Wants World Government

RUSH: Ban Ki-moon, who is the grand pooh-bah of the United Nations, New York Times op-ed on Sunday, on the Copenhagen meeting. "Every day, the critical December summit in Copenhagen grows closer. All agree that climate change is an existential threat to humankind." No, all do not.  "U.S. leadership is crucial. That is why I am encouraged by the spirit of compromise shown in the bipartisan initiative announced last week by John Kerry and Lindsey Graham. Here was a pair of U.S. senators -- one Republican, the other Democratic -- coming together to bridge their parties’ differences to address climate change in a spirit of genuine give-and-take. Looking forward to Copenhagen I have four benchmarks for success."  Are you ready for this?  This is the general secretary of the United Nations.

Number one: "Every country must do its utmost to reduce emissions from all major sources, including from deforestation and emissions from shipping and aviation."

Number two: "A successful deal must strengthen the world’s ability to cope with an already changing climate. In particular, it must provide comprehensive support to those who bear the heaviest climate impacts."

Number three: "A deal needs to be backed by money and the means to deliver it."

And number four, from Ban Ki-moon, general secretary of the United States: "A deal must include an equitable global governance structure. All countries must have a voice in how resources are deployed and managed. That is how trust will be built. The best answer to all these questions was given last week by Senators Kerry and Graham: 'Yes, we can.'"  Lunatics are running the major institutions of the world and this country, genuine deranged lunatics, one-worlders, power grabbers, anti-capitalist, anti-freedom, anti-liberty lunatics.

Story #9: AP Commissions Research to Rebuke Cooling Trend

RUSH: From the Associated Press:  "An analysis of global temperatures by independent statisticians shows the Earth is still warming and not cooling as some global warming skeptics are claiming.  The analysis was conducted at the request of The Associated Press to investigate the legitimacy of talk of a cooling trend that has been spreading on the Internet, fueled by some news reports, a new book and temperatures that have been cooler in a few recent years."  So AP commissioned their own research! And they're a bunch of journalists! Ha! I assume these journalists get paid.  They commissioned their own research.  "In short, it is not true, according to the statisticians who contributed to the AP analysis."  How convenient, just before Obama is set to jet off to Copenhagen: "Hey, for those of you who are living in places where record cold temperatures were set in October and September, where record snowfalls were set, earliest snowfalls, it ain't happening, it didn't happen, it really wasn't cold, that wasn't snow that you saw.  I don't know what it was.  Probably bean curd in a protein mix that got somehow swirled up into the atmosphere.  Who knows what it was, but it wasn't snow." Heh-heh. AP commissioned their own research, and the warmest year in the last 11 years was 1998.

Story #10: Lamar Alexander: Obama Deliberately Killing Jobs

RUSH: Let's see. "Senate Republican Conference Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN) 'on Monday said President Barack Obama is promoting a climate-change bill that would "deliberately" kill American jobs -- a statement immediately dismissed by the bill’s chief promoter, Sen. Barbara Boxer.' Boxer has released a 900-page bill with Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-Mass.) that is expected to be marked up next week," but hearings are scheduled to start Tuesday for three days, nine panels of 54 total witnesses expected to come before the committee.  "Alexander said the country should devote itself to building 100 more nuclear power plants over the next 20 years, converting half of the country's autos to electricity in the next 20 years," well that's stupid, "increase offshore oil exploration," that's good, "and increase investments in energy research and development."

So they can't say there aren't any ideas from the Republican Party on this.  But I mean do you realize what a statement this is for a sitting Senator to come out and say that Obama is deliberately killing American jobs?  That's big, and that's true, and it is accurate.  And I no longer feel like I'm on the plank by myself out there on this.

Story #11:
Coming Tomorrow: Democrats Taking from the Poor?

RUSH: Okay.  From tomorrow's stack (I've already been working on tomorrow's show while executing today's show), from the New Republic, which is a liberal journal of opinion, the headline is intriguing: "Democrats Taking From the Poor?" The liberals at the New Republic have figured out that it is the poor who are going to get creamed in any national health care bill, and they are shocked. They are genuinely shocked. They thought it would be the middle class to get creamed. Well, that's what they say here!
