Story #1: WH Reversal: No Swine Flu Shots at Club Gitmo

RUSH: Well, look at this. The White House says the detainees at Club Gitmo (where Rush Limbaugh has a thriving licensed merchandise business) are not receiving vaccinations against the swine flu.  Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, "said concern that terrorism suspects at the U.S. naval base in Cuba were receiving vaccines was misplaced. Gibbs says no vaccines are at the naval base and none are on the way." Well now wait a minute! State-Controlled Media told us that they were.  A bunch of you-know-what must have hit the fan when that news hit, folks!

Story #2: LA Times: Conservatives Emboldened by NY-23

RUSH: Now, here's the LA Times today:  "'Conservatives Emboldened by Moves in New York Election.' -- The upstate rebellion that drove a moderate Republican --" liberal Republican, liberal!  Janet Hook wrote this.  Janet, Dede Scozzafava is a liberal.  The Democrat in the race, Mr. Owens, was running ads talking about how big a tax increaser she was.  She raised taxes more than he did. "-- is sending a message likely to resonate in upcoming races: Don't ignore the grass roots of the right. ... New York has emboldened like-minded activists around the country."  It is spreading nationwide, win or lose in New York 23.

"In Columbus, Ohio, a conservative has decided to run for the House because he does not see enough difference between Democratic Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy and her leading Republican opponent.  In southern Virginia, where Democratic Rep. Tom Perriello has been expected to face a tough fight for a second term, a conservative is campaigning against a Republican he considers a RINO -- Republican in Name Only. The most prominent battlefield on which the conservative wildfire is spreading is Florida, where Gov. Charlie Crist, the GOP front-runner for the Senate nomination in 2010, faces a spirited challenge from a conservative former state House speaker, Marco Rubio. ... 'Win or lose, the conservatives will be emboldened and will look for other fights,' said Stuart Rothenberg, a nonpartisan analyst of congressional elections." So that spin got out there mistakenly.  That's from the Los Angeles Times. .

Story #3: Obama Superficial? Castro Agrees with Limbaugh

RUSH: By the way, I don't know why Axelrod and all the rest of the media are jumping all over me for calling Obama, saying he's in over his head and narcissistic.  Castro did the same thing.  He wrote a little column on Obama and the blockade, and he called Obama "conceited" and "superficial," and they didn't get mad at Castro for saying that but they get mad at me.  Why?  It's not fair!

Story #4: Press Secretary Gibbs Downplays Election Results

RUSH: This is from The Hill and their blog:  "Gibbs Downplays Election Day Expectations."  Whoa.  I wonder what their polling data is telling them?  Or this could be a double fake-out.  You never know with this bunch.  Anyway, "Tuesday's three big races are in no way a referendum on the president --" Oh, no, no, no, no.  "Rather, Gibbs explained, it was inaccurate and inappropriate to 'draw any great insight about what is going to happen in a year' from the two gubernatorial," races in New York 23. (imitating Gibbs) "No, we just sent Biden up there, you know, get him out of town, you know, we sent Obama in to New Jersey for Corzine because he secretly had a date with Michelle in downtown Newark.  No.  We're just being loyal."

"Amid the possibility Democrats could lose all three races on Tuesday, pundits are questioning whether it in any way undermines the president's political agenda -- or, worse, if those losses are in any way the president's fault. ... But Gibbs said the president's involvement in any of those contests does not signify White House has an immense political stake in the races. While the press secretary stressed the president supports all of the Democratic candidates running on Tuesday, he cautioned reporters not to surmise from the results anything about the president's record or goals or the party's chances in subsequent big elections." (imitating Gibbs) "Obama's got nothing to do about it. He's made a couple little lame phone calls.  See what we did to Creigh Deeds.  I mean, Creigh Deeds couldn't stand up if it weren't for Obama.  He didn't ask us to come and help him stand up so we threw him under the bus. What do you mean about us?  It isn't about us."
