Story #1: AP Blames American Citizens for Obama "Malaise"

RUSH: AP is using the word "malaise" to describe the US economy.  They have a poll.  The American people are upset at the direction of the country.  Fifty-six to 39%, going in the wrong direction, but they're still hanging in there with Obama.  The way they write this, though -- they're blaming the citizens for having the negative attitude about the country that they have!

Story #2: Curvy Women Smarter Than Waifs (They Have to Be)

RUSH: We have exciting news out there. A BBC report: curvy women have higher IQs than waif-like women. Because they have to is probably why. Hee-hee. Well, you know, it reminds me of a survey.  I was in Pittsburgh, so this had to be 1972, I think, they did a study at Tufts University, and they found the larger the bust size, the higher the IQ.  This BBC thing seems to confirm that.

Story #3: Study: Lack of Exercise Doesn't Cause Teen Obesity

RUSH: Also a story: child obesity, teen obesity is not due to lack of exercise.  It has been discovered that it has to do with diet.  Teens today get pretty much the same amount of exercise as they have in the last 20 years.

Story #4: Gallup & Rasmussen: GOP Leads in Generic Ballot

RUSH: There's interesting polling data out today all over the place, and it's fascinating to look at.  Both Gallup and Rasmussen have the generic congressional ballot, Republicans up six in the Rasmussen poll, up four I think in the Gallup poll.  This is unprecedented and in both instances it is independents helping the Republicans' cause.  This is after the health care vote.  This is after the health care vote.  This after the election. Actually, I don't have the date here, so I don't know if it's after the health care vote, but it's certainly after the election, and it's unprecedented.  Republicans have never had this kind of a generic ballot lead.

Democrats always lead in the generic ballot.  They always do, and I'm reminded here that you got Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel out there saying that Republican identification is at an all-time low.  However, conservatism doubles liberalism 40 to 20, also Gallup.  But in both polls, it's independents that are moving, and it is health care.  It's the whole Obama agenda, it's the economy.

Story #5: Chavez's Socialist Paradise Can't Keep the Lights On

RUSH: Folks, a teachable moment from Venezuela. This is from the New York Times today: "As Blackouts Hit Energy-Rich Venezuela, the President Tells People to Cut Back."  Now, the reason I focus on Venezuela is 'cause I think that Venezuela is where we could be if we are not vigilant.  Venezuela is where we could very well be headed and so that's why I focus on Venezuela.  Venezuela is an energy colossus, folks, and that's even the first sentence here in the New York Times story.  Venezuela has "the largest conventional oil reserves outside the Middle East and one of the world’s mightiest hydroelectric systems, but that has not prevented it from enduring serious electricity and water shortages that seem only to be getting worse.  President Hugo Chávez has been facing a public outcry in recent weeks over power failures that, after six nationwide blackouts in the last two years --" nationwide, six of them, "-- are cutting electricity for hours each day in rural areas and in industrial cities like Valencia and Ciudad Guayana. Now, water rationing has been introduced here in the capital." He's telling people three minutes to take a shower.

This is a country with an energy colossus, the largest conventional oil reserve outside the Middle East.  Now, get this next.  "The deterioration of services is perplexing to many here, especially because the country had grown used to cheap, plentiful electricity and water in recent decades. But even as the oil boom was enriching his government and Mr. Chávez asserted greater control over utilities and other industries in this decade, public services seemed only to decay, adding to residents’ frustrations. With oil revenues declining and the economy slowing, the shortages may have no quick fixes in sight. ... The president is embarking on his own crusade: pushing Venezuelans to conserve by mocking their consumption habits."  Yeah, what was that quote from Obama about turning up the heat?  He said we just can't turn up the heat and drive our SUVs all we want and eat as much as we do and still be good citizens of the world.  We can't do it anymore.  This is why I pay attention to Venezuela, 'cause we're headed there.  Obama is making fun of certain of his own citizens, Chavez is mocking his own.

In fact, Chavez "began his critique last month with the amount of time citizens spent under their shower heads, saying three-minute showers were sufficient. 'I’ve counted and I don’t end up stinking,' he said. 'I guarantee it.'" Reminds me of Jimmy Carter's sweater days.  So first the utopia of Cuba with wonderful health care, runs out of toilet paper and now Hugo's paradise can't keep the lights on and the water flowing!  And they are an energy colossus.  And note how socialists do things.  "As Blackouts Hit Energy-Rich Venezuela, the President Tells People to Cut Back."  Let's note that Chavez is not saying, "Let's find out how to meet all the demand and let's produce more so that we can continue to grow."  No.  What he says is you idiots have to take shorter showers and turn the lights off and if you don't I'm going to do it for you.  Life in socialists countries is miserable.  He's taken over everything, it's falling apart, they got more oil and natural gas than anywhere outside of the Middle East.  They got the biggest hydroelectric system in their hemisphere and they still are becoming a Third World nation because it is a dictatorship and we're headed that way.

And the last paragraph of this teachable moment story comes from some clown named -- well, not a clown, his name is Fernando Branger, an energy expert at the Institute of Superior Administration Studies, a Caracas business school. He says, "If this crisis teaches us something, it is that the immensity of our energy reserves means nothing if we cannot even get them out of the ground."  And a dictator can't get things out of the ground, only a free market can get oil and natural gas out of the ground.  The government doesn't know how to do it. Hugo Chavez is not going to go to the fields himself to do it. He's nationalized the oil companies, he's taken over the output but there's less and less output.  And so the New York Times says the deterioration of services is perplexing.  No, it's not perplexing at all!  It's entirely understandable.  He's destroyed the private sector, he has abandoned capitalism, he's gone socialist.  That's why I pay attention to Venezuela.  It's our future.

Story #6: Letter to Editor Calls Out Obama on Vaccine Rationing

RUSH: I was reading my genuine hometown newspaper today, The Southeast Missourian, Cape Girardeau, and there is -- it's either a letter to the editor or it is a column by a local resident, William Piercey Sr. "Mr. Obama: I'm Calling You Out."  Now, this is heartland America, folks.  This is about H1N1.  And, you know, the hysteria has disappeared.  Have you noticed the hysteria has disappeared from the Drive-Bys?  We had a national emergency, we had, what's her name, Sebelius, and who else was out there every day, "You gotta go do this," and now there's no news about it at all and that's because the government has totally botched it, they have no vaccine, there's a shortage, and so the Obama government has stopped all the faxes and e-mails to the media to keep the hysteria going, they've dialed it back now because they don't want people to think there's a hysteria anymore or that there's even an emergency because there's no vaccine!

"The new era of government control over our lives and freedoms has begun. This week, it got personal, and I felt helpless.  The doctor overseeing my health care advised me to get an H1N1 flu shot. I've been under a six-year treatment program for a chronic infection, plus I have heart and lung problems. Therefore, I am considered a high risk. Fortunately, my doctor had three shots available --" Get this.  The doctor had thee shots, his doctor's got three shots of the vaccine.  "-- but I would have to get approval from my county health department. Much to my surprise, the woman at the health department apologized and told me that even though I was a senior citizen at high risk, the health department had been instructed to approve shots only for children and pregnant mothers."  Folks, in this vaccine we've already got rationing of health care!  And the doctor has to tell the patient to get approval from a county health board!  Already, without the passage of this monstrosity, we can already see the failure of government health care in this vaccine program.  Can you imagine going into your doctor, he's got three vaccines, and you gotta call the county health department, you gotta call a bureaucrat for approval?

So Mr. Piercey did that, and the health department had been instructed to approve shots only for children and pregnant mothers.  "I asked when a shot for my situation might be available. 'We really don't know. Check back with us sometime in December.'  What? The terrorist detainees in Gitmo are getting shots this month. Why not a high-risk senior citizen?  Mr. Obama, this is what we call health care rationing, which you claim won't happen under a government-run health care program.  If George W. Bush was considered the Barney Fife of executive power, then welcome to the Chicago-style politics of the new Vito Corleone family. The president himself, like a strong-armed enforcer, said in a nationally televised speech, 'If you misrepresent anything in this plan, I will call you out.'

"This administration has turned the once dignified and esteemed Oval Office into a war room for its liberal propaganda.  On his first day in office, the president signed the Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Personnel executive order. During the campaign he vowed to keep lobbyists out of the administration. But in Section 3 of this order is a waiver clause. The director of the Office of Management and Budget 'may grant' a written waiver of any restrictions. Former lobbyists were given waivers and now hold key positions in government. Mr. Obama, you lied.

"At the same time lobbyists were coming in the front door, dozens of new unvetted, hand-picked ideologues were being shuttled in the back door. Many of these people were placed in key policymaking positions. U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine was worried about 18 of these unvetted czars, 10 of whom worked in the White House. An amendment to force these appointees to testify in oversight hearings was shot down by the Democratic leadership. Collins was especially concerned about Carol Browner, who negotiated fuel-economy standards with the auto industry. She even sent a letter to Obama, and one of his counsels replied that no one would be made available. This administration fears no one, especially a senator who dares to enforce something as minor as checks and balances. Obama promised transparency. He lied.

"On the topic of transparency, the $787 billion stimulus bill was a progressive Trojan horse. It's loaded with political favors and programs that set up the infrastructure for education, health care and climate change. It was passed and signed in a matter of weeks. This was not a bill to put Americans back to work. Obama said it would produce 3.5 million jobs in two years. Over the past year the administration has changed its story daily but finally settled on the 'create or save' propaganda. Obama also said the bill would keep unemployment under 8 percent. The rate has climbed to over 10 percent. Either his economic advisers are incompetent and need to be fired, or, once again, Mr. President, you lied.

"Mr. President, you said you didn't want to run our car companies and banks, but you do. With the $350 billion in TARP funds left by President Bush, Obama's people continued the surge of bailouts. Americans might be shocked to know the recipients of bailout money now total 727 institutions. This government control in the private sector is unprecedented.  Government-run health care, card check, cap-and-trade, net neutrality, control of radio stations and possible newspaper bailouts are just part of this administration's agenda.  It's time for Americans to get in this government's face and call it out. This coup d'etat can be defeated. We have the numbers, the votes and the will power to turn back this assault on our individual freedoms. With 15 million unemployed Americans, I'm sure we can find a few willing patriots to fill all those upcoming vacant seats in Washington, especially with an annual salary of $170,000, office, staff, insurance, expense account and, best of all, a three-day workweek. The only requirements for this job are honesty, integrity and a love of country."

"Mr. Obama: I'm Calling You Out." There's a lot of anger and there's a lot of fear in the hinterlands, the heartland of this country about this duping that we've had on this swine flu vaccine.  The White House stopped feeding the Drive-Bys their hysteria e-mail of the day and so they stopped covering the story.  You know, every TV and radio newscast for months, it led, and now they've been found out to be the incompetent jerks we knew they were so the spin is silent and the Drive-Bys are too stupid to figure out that they have a real good story here:  Government screwing up royally in vaccinating people against a declared emergency, a government declared emergency.  Health department to get approval for a vaccine?

Story #7:
A Very Telling Obama Quote on the Constitution

RUSH: The liberties and freedoms defined in our Constitution are under attention.  And you know, there's a very telling quote from Obama's book, The Audacity of Hope, that has been a foreshadowing of what I told you to expect.  Snerdley was reminding me that I predicted all this economic disaster when I heard about the stimulus package way back in January and February.  And I predicted a lot of other things.  I told you to expect this.  Here is Obama's quote from his book: "I have to side with Justice Breyer's view of the Constitution, that it's not static but rather a living document that must be read in the context of an ever-changing world."  Now, contrast that with what you know about the Constitution and what most Americans think they know about it.

The Heritage Foundation is one organization that will always defend the Constitution.  One of the great thinkers at the Heritage Foundation, Dr. Matthew Spalding, has written and just released a book. It's called We Still Hold These Truths. It thoughtfully, passionately explains how and why our first principles, the founding principles are still relevant.  And when you become a member of the Heritage Foundation -- if you do it this week, make a $50 contribution to the process, that's what gets you a membership -- you'll get a copy of the book.  So go online to AskHeritage.org; become a member this week.  It's always a good time to support our freedoms and liberties, and now you get the benefit of Matthew Spalding's book to work towards that end.  AskHeritage.org is where it all starts.  You know, everybody wants to be like me, and I am a member of the Heritage Foundation -- and you should be, too.

Story #8: Gay Activists Launch Boycott of Democrats

RUSH: All right, try some of these headlines.  I don't have time to get into all this, but here's a good one:  "Gay Activists Launch Boycott of Democrats."

Story #9: Obama Camp Was Source for Edwards Haircut Story

RUSH: "'Obama Camp Was Source for Edwards Haircut Story.' -- An infamous report about a rival's $400 style came from Obama campaign opposition research." That's in Salon.com.

Story #10: Libs in Pretzels: Melting Ice Caps Now Good Thing

RUSH: "'Ice Loss Helps Offset Global Warming.' -- Global warming has been blamed for the alarming loss of ice shelves in Antarctica, but a new study says newly-exposed areas of sea are now soaking up some of the carbon gas that causes the problem."  So melting ice caps, which are not melting, but if they do, it's now a good thing.  These people are turning themselves into pretzels.

Story #11: Most Favor Big-Screen TVs Over Energy Conservation

RUSH: From Rasmussen: "'Most Americans Favor Big-Screen TVs Over Energy Conservation.' -- Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 66% of Americans oppose a law that would effectively ban the sale of big-screen televisions to save energy. ... Most adults (53%) say being able to buy whatever kind of TV they want is more important than conserving energy." This is nationwide.  California set to ban big-screen TVs.  People still want their freedom.

Story #12:
Denmark to Immigrants: Assimilate or Get Out

RUSH: "Denmark to Pay Immigrants 12,000 Pounds to go Home if They 'Can't or Won't' Assimilate."  Now, there's not a whole lot to like about Europe these days but this one you gotta like.  "Hey, you won't assimilate, go home.  Here's 12 grand, get out of our country."

Story #13: HuffPo Wants Segregated Book List for Conservatives

RUSH: Have you heard what the Huffington Post wants to do?  The Huffington Post wants a separate conservative nonfiction book list, because conservatives are dominating the New York Times nonfiction best-seller list.  They're actually suggesting that they bifurcate the best-seller list and give the conservatives their own, 'cause you have Levin scorching everybody out there with his book. You got Palin coming up, who's gonna explode. I just got my advanced powerful, influential-member-of-the-media copy of that book today.  We have Beck with his books out there, Hannity and his books, my brother has his books, Andy McCarthy's got a book coming out and all these conservative books dominate and so the Huff Post, the Huffing and Puffington Post wants the New York Times to have their own separate conservative best-seller list. Ha, ha! These are the people of unity! What? I have no idea when I'm going to do another book, Snerdley. I really don't.

Story #14: AP: Women On Pace to be Majority of Union Workers

RUSH: "Women on Pace to be Majority of Union Workers."  No good can come of that, trust me, folks.  Well, now, wait a minute, chickify the unions.  Oh, ho, wait a minute.  No.  No.  My instincts never fail me.  No good can come of that.  That's right.  Demands on labor are high enough. Heh-heh.

Story #15: Good News: Brown Pelicans Off Endangered List

RUSH: Hot damn! I close out the show on good news.  You know, some of you people remember that my favorite bird is the pelican, and the federal government now says that the brown pelicans are endangered no more, they're not on the endangered list, which means I can go out and capture one now.  Oh, goody!  Those things just amaze me.
