RUSH: I want to grab Marie in Flagler Beach, Florida. Hi, Marie. I'm glad you called and welcome. Nice to have you with us.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. Dittos.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: Listen, I watched the president this morning, and I agree a hundred percent: we shouldn't leave Iraq before the job is done.
RUSH: Right.
CALLER: What I want to know is, why did the president and John Bolton and Condoleezza Rice want Israel to leave Lebanon with that ceasefire and leave before their job was done?
RUSH: I'm so glad you called because I have so wanted to address this.
CALLER: Oh, good.
RUSH: It's a great question, and there obviously are answers to it, but I think it was a disaster.
CALLER: I agree.
RUSH: It depressed me. You know, for three weeks I was complimenting Secretary Rice and President Bush and Ambassador Bolton for the way they were conducting themselves, and I was. I thought it was just fabulous. It was obvious to me they had given Israel the green light to clean this bunch of people out -- and then all of a sudden, out of the blue: reverse course. Go back to a UN that has no success at any time in its history with things like this, come up with a new resolution. It just depressed me, and it wasn't because I felt like I'd been sold out. I thought, "We're not serious in the war on terror." Then I hear the president today, and I get, of course, obviously, the different impression. Now, look at the answers.
I'll tell you what. I think it was just an utter disaster to stop the Israelis. But there has to be a reason for it, and I have done exhaustive research into this, Marie, and what I have learned is that the Israelis were ill-prepared, unequipped, and the liberal prime minister there just -- even though given the green light, just -- couldn't pull the trigger to do what was necessary, that preparation for the war was not what it was; the intelligence was not what it was, and I think the reason for the pullback was based on the fact that it was going nowhere, and it was best to stop and sort of stanch the bleeding, if you will. By the same token, your question has spawned another one that I've asked. If we're going to have ceasefires all the time Israel gets involved with its enemies, why not a ceasefire in Iraq? Have you noticed, Marie, not one entity -- not even United Nations, nobody -- is demanding a ceasefire in Iraq.
CALLER: Right. |
 |
|
RUSH: I wonder why that is? If ceasefires are good everywhere else in the world, why not Iraq? I don't support one, don't misunderstand. I'm just curious about the people that claim and advocate for such things.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm.
RUSH: But it is clear that this was just round one. The Israelis pulled out of there with a bloody nose, and there will be a round two and a round three. The thing about this that concerns me the most, and always has, is the Iranians. The Iranians are on their quest to get nuclear weapons, there is no question -- and they're flaunting it, and now the supreme leader over there, the command high authority, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that nobody's going to stop 'em from doing it. "You can dream all you want, but we're going to proceed with this," and why wouldn't he? The world's shown that there is nobody that has any desire to make a real effort to stop them.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm.
RUSH: The negotiation route? People'd be happy to do that. We've let the Europeans and the European Union try that for three or four years. It doesn't get anywhere. It won't get anywhere. Why would they stand down? Why would they all of a sudden say, "Okay, you know what? We are going to suspend nuclear program." Why? They just think they kicked butt in southern Lebanon.
CALLER: They did.
RUSH: Well, I don't think they kicked butt because now, if you go to these websites, there are funerals for dead Hezbo leaders. Yes, the media didn't report that. You know, during the war, all we heard was that it was innocent civilians being wiped out. "But the Israelis failed to make a dent in the command structure of the Hezbos." Well, not true. There was a lot of damage done to the Hezbos and there was a lot of damage done to their infrastructure and their supply lines and so forth. But we've just put off the day of reckoning with Iran, and to me, it just doesn't seem like there's anybody in the world who has any desire to stop them, and the thought of dealing with these people making nukes that they can give to terrorists? I mean, it's not a pleasant thought to me.

RUSH: Eric in Cincinnati. I'm glad you waited. Welcome to the EIB Network, sir.
CALLER: Hey, Rush.
RUSH: Hey.
CALLER: You know, you mentioned the top ten floors in the UN, right? (Laughs)
RUSH: John Bolton, yeah.
CALLER: Yeah. My comment: I was listening to you mention the preparations on the Israeli side, and it made me wonder. The preparations on the Hezbollah side, straight out from the beginning -- or I should say as soon as the ceasefire was official and everybody stopped shooting at everybody else -- $12,000 per house or $12,000 per family, cash in hand to each one of these Lebanese that they were handing out to these people. It really makes me wonder, you know, were they prepared? They knew that Israel was going to respond in the way they responded, flattening everything that Hezbollah shot a rocket from. We're going to flatten that whole area trying to get those launchers, and now that they've flattened entire sections of Lebanon, "Hey, guess what? Here's money! We're the good guys. We're coming along. We were prepared." How many --
RUSH: Well, who are you saying are the good guys? This is a little bit redundant, because the Hezbos have been portrayed all through the war as great social workers, providers of social services. They're the ones that do the schools; they build the roads. They provide the sewage, the air-conditioning, they do it all! The Hezbos are just fabulous. They're so good, I suggested bringing them over to New Orleans to rebuild the city.
CALLER: Ha! I haven't --
RUSH: The Iranians have been funding them for who knows how long. They're just a proxy for the Iranians and the Syrians. So I, for one, wasn't surprised that there would be $12,000 per home. Are you saying that because the cash came in so quickly, they knew there was going to be a ceasefire?
CALLER: Well, yeah. I'm kind of thinking they were ready for this ceasefire to happen. They were just biding their time, sitting in their holes and hitting whoever they could hit when they came by, and as soon as the ceasefire that they inevitably knew would happen, they came out of their holes cash in hand. |
 |
|
RUSH: There's no way of knowing. I have no clue if the Hezbos or the Iranians knew that a ceasefire would be coming. They might have hoped for it. I don't know. But regardless, I may be missing something here, but the idea that the Iranians would be in there with $12,000 a house to pass out, hello? Saddam Hussein was paying every household 25 grand, if they'd send a kid out with bombs on him to blow himself up and kill some Israelis. This is actually cheap. The Iranians were cheaper than Saddam was! It ought to be $25,000 a house if he really cared in Iran. This is what's so discombobulating to me about this whole operation. This could have been huge to take the Hezbos out. It could have been huge. It's just going to have to happen later. It was an opportunity, for whatever reason, squandered. Let's go to Tampa. Phil, welcome to the program, sir. Nice to have you with us.
CALLER: Hey, Rush, nice to talk with you.
RUSH: Hey.
CALLER: In reference to Israel pulling out of Lebanon, really that's a microcosm of America's war on terror. The Israeli prime minister ran on a cut-and-run ticket to get elected and got his people out of Lebanon, and look where it got him. It's the same microcosm we fight here in Iraq, that if we get out of there, it's going to gain us nothing, and it also speaks to him wanting a ceasefire. It's his nature to quit too soon.
RUSH: Well, liberals are liberals, and it's a good point, Phil, and I'll echo your sentiment there. Liberals are liberals, and they are liberals first. That really is not complicated. I said this to somebody over the weekend; we were discussing this and the person to whom I was speaking said, "You know, that's really profound. I just wrote 750 words trying to explain what happened over there and you've summed it up in three: 'Liberals are liberals,'" and Olmert is a liberal. But you know what's really -- (sigh) what's the word? -- ironic about this is that 90% of the Israeli population was all for the operation to wipe out the Hezbos, and the Israelis are majority liberal.
Tel Aviv may as well be San Francisco in one sense, or Seattle. It's a total party. In fact the people there couldn't have cared less. They were still at the beach, out partying, consuming the adult beverages. Israel is a microcosm of the United States. There are some people that don't care what else is going on around the world or in the country. They're there to party and life's to be enjoyed and so forth and the rest of the country picks up slack. Same thing here. Much smaller percentages and numbers, but still is the case. But, yeah, Olmert. I wouldn't be surprised to learn someday when the history of this is written that there was abject anger and frustration at the White House as well.
There's no question this administration gave them the green light. You go look at the first three weeks of Bush and his remarks and Condoleezza Rice's remarks and John Bolton's. There's no question. There was not one shackle on the Israelis from the United States. It was clear: "You go in there and you kick butt," and, you know, Olmert didn't send the ground troops in early enough. When he did send 'em in he pulled them back after two days and then says he wants to agree to this ceasefire business. Liberals are liberals, ladies and gentlemen, and they are a constant obstacle to all kinds of progress -- be it domestic or international, be it in the war on terror or the war in the culture or what have you.
I found an interesting piece at David Horowitz's site called FrontPageMag.com. There was a piece on Friday by Amil Imani. Amil Imani is an Iranian who has gotten out of the country and disagrees entirely with the regime there, and I just want to share a couple paragraphs of this with you, because it is fascinating. He said: "Islam enjoys a large and influential ally among the non-Muslims: A new generation of 'Useful Idiots,' that Lenin identified as those who lived in liberal democracies and furthered the work of communism. This new generation of Useful Idiots also lives in liberal democracies but serves the cause of Islamofascism -- another virulent form of totalitarian ideology," and here he defines useful idiots:
"Useful Idiots are naïve..." and, by the way, think of Cindy Sheehan when you read this or hear this. No, no, seriously. I'm not trying to be funny. This is dead serious stuff. Think of Cindy Sheehan. Think of any of your favorite kook, left-wing bloggers. Think of Ned Lament. Think of any Democrat, elected or not, that you hear railing against the war on terror. |
 |
|
"Useful Idiots are naïve, foolish, ignorant of facts, unrealistically idealistic, dreamers, willfully in denial or deceptive. They hail from the ranks of the chronically unhappy," and I think that is the foundation to explain it right there. There's more of this. I'll continue in a moment. I think they are chronically unhappy. It never ceases to amaze me how liberals are never, ever happy. They don't laugh. They don't smile even when they're amongst themselves. I know people that go to liberal dinner parties, and they sit there and they bang the table and they talk about what a rotten guy Bush is. They're not even happy amongst themselves! The latest thing to upset 'em -- I don't know if you've heard about this -- the IRS is going to start taxing these goody bags that all these presenters at the Oscars get.
These bags are worth 70 grand, some of the contents in there, and the IRS said, "We just can't overlook this. The rich getting free gifts? I mean, that's income. That's equivalent. We gotta tax that." Now these people are just beside themselves. "How can you do that? Why, these are gifts!" They're beside themselves. They have to give up the bags. They don't want to pay the taxes. These are the people advocating for tax increases on "the rich." They are the rich, but they don't want to pay taxes on their goody bags and they're saying, "We only take one or two items for ourselves, and we give the rest of the items to our flunkies -- uh, our staff." So they're miserable people. They're "chronically unhappy."
They are "anarchists, the aspiring revolutionaries, the neurotics who are at war with life, the disaffected alienated from government, corporations, and just about any and all institutions of society. They feel at great distance from..." They're kooks! They have failed to assimilate in the institutions and traditions that define the country. "The Useful Idiot can be a billionaire, a movie star, an academe of renown, a politician, or from any other segment of the population. Arguably, the most dangerous Useful Idiot is the 'Politically Correct.' He is the master practitioner of euphemism, hedging, doubletalk, and outright deception.
"The lesson is clear. Beware of the Useful Idiots who live in liberal democracies. Knowingly or unknowingly, they serve as the greatest volunteer and effective soldiers of Islam. They pave the way for the advancement of Islam and they will assuredly be among the very first victims of Islam as soon as it assumes power." Think of the judge in eastern Michigan. Think of all the Democrats trying to sabotage the NSA "spy program," the foreign surveillance program. Think of all the people trying to undermine operations at Abu Ghraib and Club Gitmo. This definition is one of the best I've seen of "useful idiots." I wanted to share it with you.

RUSH: Here are those three nations that are said to comprise the bulk of the peacekeeping force. I mean, I can't even say that with a straight face: "the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon." Indonesia, Malaysia and Bangladesh. These are three nations, all Muslim, that lack diplomatic ties with Israel. They are among the only countries to have offered troops to this so-called "massive force" to go in there and keep the peace -- and try this. This is from Saturday's UK Guardian. "An internal Lebanese army statement circulated among forces in the past week has called for troops," Lebanese troops, to stand, quote, "alongside your resistance," that's the Hezbos, "'and your people, who astonish the world with its steadfastness and destroyed the prestige of the so-called invincible army after it was defeated,'" unquote.
"The circular has alarmed ministers in the Lebanese cabinet who have been calling for the army to disarm Hezbollah." Well, the army is not going to disarm Hezbollah. The army is Hezbollah. Hezbollah is that country. Hezbollah is heroes! Now this little flier goes out saying don't disarm them, stand with them? What was the guy's name from Cincinnati, H.R.? Eric in Cincinnati. Let's say that Eric is right. Let's say that the Hezbos and the Iranians knew full-well that there was going to be a ceasefire before the war was actually completed and they had their cash stash ready to go. Which, by the way, this cash stash, if you want to know where they got this idea, try George McGovern. You remember the 1972 presidential campaign?
He wanted to give every poverty-stricken American a thousand dollars. The Hezbos are just implementing every Democratic Party plan and every Democratic Party talking point to come down the pike, including old Mahmoud when he talks to Mike Wallace and says, "Weeeell, I'm so sad that 45 million Americans don't have health care coverage." At any rate, let's assume that Eric in Cincinnati was right, that they just knew that there was going to be a ceasefire. What does that tell us? What does it tell us? Mr. Snerdley, take a wild guess. Iran, Syria, the Hezbos knew. They just had to hold on. There wouldn't really be a finish to this, it wasn't time. (interruption) No. It tells you that they have studied recent events over the years, and they don't think Israel or the United States has the guts to finish anything anymore.
That's what it tells you, and that's disquieting. |
