From the Boston Globe, "Democrats yesterday continued to make their case for an investigation of how the Bush administration used intelligence in the months before the war with Iraq, brushing aside CIA director George Tenet's claim that it was his fault that a disputed report about Baghdad trying to buy uranium from Niger made it into the State of the Union address." Note: the president did not cite "Niger" in his address, and the Brits still stand by the intel Mr. Bush credit to them.
"George Tenet, making him the fall guy, that doesn't resolve the question or make go away the questions about the overall intelligence and why the administration clearly had this political tug of war over the kind of information they were presenting America," the French-looking Democratic candidate John F. Kerry whined on CNN's Late Edition.
You may as well have just gone ahead and tossed a barrel of blood in the water, White House. Apologizing is chum for these liberal sharks. They're swimming around out there just looking for some more meat - and the consequences to U.S. national security be damned! They'll fix that when they get back in power. Note that John F. Kerry is not telling you how he'd do anything differently here. He's not telling you how he would make America safer. He's just throwing rocks without offering a single specific solution. |

These Democrats can't give you a reason to vote for them - and the sad thing is, Bush is helping them. Kerry is just trying to make you scared and think that we're less safe than we are. The truth of the matter is that this country is much more secure with George W. Bush as president. I'll tell you something else, folks. TIME magazine has a huge story headlined: "Why America is Running Out of Gas." This piece describes our woes in natural gas and gasoline production and how we're highly vulnerable to any action by OPEC. The president needs to get out in front of this.
This is something that could be devastating to his presidency, should there be a severe energy crisis in the run-up to the next election. The president needs to use that bully pulpit and explain that while conversation and alternative fuels are wonderful ideas, we have to fuel our economy. We have to cool our homes in the summer and heat them during the winter. We have to fuel our automobiles, trucks, trains, hospitals and factories. A shortage of fuel will be devastating to our economy. It's not good for anybody.
The Democrats are the ones refusing to allow additional exploration and drilling in useless frozen areas in this country. But if we can't explore in our own country, then where can we go to look for fuel to make us less dependent on Middle East suppliers? Mark my words: if Bush doesn't get out in front of this it's going to present problems. Part of this energy problem is of the president's own making by again embracing the liberal agenda. Hydrogen cars and conservation may be nice ideas for the future, but they are not the answer to the energy challenges we may face right now. |
