You can't escape the feeding frenzy over the Mrs. Joe Wilson non-story. Robert Novak has made it a non-story by saying that no one at the White House "leaked" Joe Wilson's wife's name to him, and that she is not a CIA "agent," "covert operative" or "spy." We rolled you audio of Mr. Wilson darkly saying that his wife was "outed" by the release of her maiden name, implying that she used that name as a cover to deceive the bad guys. The truth? Wilson's wife's maiden name is not only in the public domain, but he names her as his spouse by that name in his bio at the Middle East Institute!
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has picked up on the media spin that the supposed "leaking" of this secret agent's name was like "putting a gun to her head." Again: she's not an agent! As with Schumer, Joe Wilson's credibility ought to be a matter of question. He's a well-known Bush hater who targeted White House political advisor Karl Rove for a smear campaign months ago. Note also that Schumer has fought to decriminalize the leaking of classified data like this since 1989! Only now, does he think it should be a crime.
So much for the left's great love for "whistleblowers," eh, folks? As predicted, not one member of the media asked Schumer about this glaring personal contradiction in his press conference. No, they're too busy copying down the seething hatred pouring from Schumer, Tom Daschle and other Democrats who - in another major double standard - want to resurrect the very special prosecutor title they hated and let expire in order to destroy Bush! Democrats and liberals like billionaire George Soros are creating a set of very dangerous personal circumstances for President Bush with their hatred, folks. This is bad stuff. |

They claim that we on the right are full of hate, but liberals are the only ones out there claiming - in the words of the New Republic's Jonathan Chait: "I hate George Bush." Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), pushed the disgusting line that the administration says, "If you don't toe the line, we'll go after your wife and kids." What's amazing about this is that Bush has his "new tone," and is going out of his way to be nice to Ted Kennedy, Schumer and all the rest of these liberals. None of this stops B.S. headlines such as AP's "White House Finds Another Embarrassment." There's no embarrassment here because there's no story!
The White House is cooperating openly with the Justice Department investigation. Why not? There's nothing to find here. Joe Wilson is saying that a bunch of reporters told him the White House leaked his wife's name. Why doesn’t he tell us who they are, and why don't they come out and back up his un-supported allegations? I rolled you audio of Wilson on Paula Zahn, and contrasted his newest yarn with this statement he made back in August: "It's of keen interest to me to see whether or not we can get Karl Rove frog-marched out of the White House in handcuffs." This is an objective guy?
Wilson has no evidence of any kind that Rove leaked anything about his wife - but to liberals, the "nature of the evidence" or lack of it doesn't matter. It's "the seriousness of the charge" that matters. Wilson also mischaracterized what Novak has said about this, deliberately trying to blur the line between the jobs agent, analyst and operative at the CIA. Let's go back and let's take a look here at what Novak actually said: "According to a confidential source at the CIA [Note: Not the White House], Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operator, not in charge of undercover operatives." Clearly Wilson hates Rove and Bush, so let's not treat him as some innocent babe in the woods on this. |
