RUSH: B.C., Birmingham, Alabama, great to have you on Open Line Friday. Welcome to the program.

CALLER: Look, you’ve been saying for months that you would tell us when to panic. I’m beginning to think we’re at that point. For example, they put us into multigenerational debt, they’ve totally screwed our banking and financial institutions, wrecked two of our auto manufacturers, they’re creating this vast pool of unemployed with little hope for immediate relief and more of it on the way. They are, mmm, mmm, mmm, indoctrinating so many kids that they’re perpetuating their idiot voting base. They are raiding our freedoms a chunk at a time, the dollar is about to become toilet paper and that’s notwithstanding the management of foreign policy and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The thing that’s got me worried is electing a few Republicans doesn’t look like it’s going to turn this around. I mean we got the majority back in the nineties and the Republicans proved they don’t have the balls to play has hard as the left. So considering that the first liberal in all of creation was Satan, why shouldn’t we be panicked?

RUSH: (laughing) That’s a line I haven’t heard. The first liberal in all of creation was Satan? (laughing) Well, because panic isn’t going to get anything done. I understand, yeah, these are dire times, you laid it out perfectly, dire, dire circumstances, and electing a couple Republicans at this point, electing a lot of Republicans would stop some of this stuff, and it has to be stopped. It just does.

CALLER: Oh, I understand that. But, you know — (laughing) — it looks a lot more dire from where I am than I guess where you are, is what I’m trying to say.

RUSH: Well, no, it’s dire where I am. Where I am is the United States of America. And it’s dire.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s being done on purpose. I’ll tell you the most frustrating thing to me is that there were a lot of us who knew this is exactly who this administration was, who Barack Obama was, we knew it, and all of the anointed Smart Money on our side, ‘No, no, no, no, he’s postracial, he’s postpartisan, he’s post-this, he’s one of us, he’s a smart guy, we need somebody intelligent in the White House,’ all these people, and then some of them on our side are still running around talking about the need to have collegiality and so forth. Until everybody on our side — and we’re not there yet, B.C., we’re not there until everybody on our side realizes that we are dealing with pure evil here in terms of the intentions to remake this country, and it must be stopped. It must not be negotiated with; it must not be gotten along with; it’s time to stop this. It’s time to stop this move. You know, only an elitist would miss what’s going on in this country. Peggy Noonan has a piece today — and remember, Peggy came after me as being one of those who was coarsening America’s politics. And I know Peggy, she just doesn’t want a fight, can we calm down and have playdates in Central Park and so forth and be one happy bunch of people.

But she has a piece today in the Wall Street Journal, here’s a little excerpt from it: ‘The biggest long-term threat is that people are becoming and have become disheartened, that this condition is reaching critical mass, and that it afflicts most broadly and deeply those members of the American leadership class who are not in Washington, most especially those in business.’ Now, her piece today is very interesting. I just wish that she woulda written this before Obama took office because I firmly believe she has the intellect to understand, like a lot of us did, that this is exactly what was going to happen. So here she is nine months into this and finally discovering where a lot of people were a year ago, because they knew this was coming. But there’s something she is totally wrong about this in this piece. She does capture much of what’s wrong in the country. Remember she thought Obama was a savior just a few months ago, because Obama is smart, he speaks like other smart people, a pedigree, he’s one of us. I think what Peggy totally misses is the anger, not the disheartenment — and there is some of that, certainly — but there is anger within a majority of the people in this country.

She totally misses the ascension of conservatism that’s taking place. She misses the backbone of the Chamber of Commerce. She misses what the polls are reporting. We have had enough. We are disheartened by blue-blood country club moderate Republicans, and of course Democrats. Peggy is obviously depressed and she’s projected her depression onto the American people. I don’t feel depressed. I’m ticked off. I’m mad. There is anger out there all over this country. We are ready to financially support conservative candidates. People are attending town hall meetings, tea parties, protests, and rallies. Somebody has to do something. And the elitist class of Washington is missing it, and even if they do see it, they will still participate in it as spectators and comment on it. I’m sure Peggy Noonan is depressed. She believed in Ronald Reagan. A year or two from now maybe she’ll take the next step and write an article praising the American people who refused to put up with this and tried to stop it, a lot of people who knew exactly that this was going to happen before it did. And when we predicted it and when we cautioned people we were the ones who were told, ‘Shut up, you are coarsening our politics. You are damaging the civility.’

In the meanwhile, we gotta Democrat out there, Alan Grayson, who is calling a K Street lobbyist a whore. He says Republicans want people to die sooner and he’s being praised by the media. The Obama White House loves the guy. He’s going to be reelected from Orlando with ease. And, meanwhile, we run a guy like George Allen out of the party over a word that doesn’t show up in the Oxford dictionary, Macaca, nobody knows what it means. Where was the civility and where was the non-coarsening of our politics when the Washington Post and the media led the drumbeat to get rid of a decent man, George Allen? Meanwhile, we’ve got an absolutely ADD lunatic flake from Orlando, Florida, who is running around mouthing off some of the most uncivil things, and he gets praised. This guy gets more television time for it. We’ve got a guy, Snoop Dogg, a rap sheet longer than my leg, who’s just been hired to do promo commercials for the NFL pregame show on ESPN. Yet I, El Rushbo, divisive, uncivil, coarsening American politics. I’m thinking I better go out and commit some crimes and do some time, and then the NFL will have me and maybe the Democrat Party as well.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Elliott in Newark, New Jersey, welcome to the program, sir. Great to have you here.

CALLER: Oh, thank you. I just have, about the Democrats, I pretty much sum them up, there’s two types of Democrats. There’s the ignorant Democrat and the scammer.

RUSH: The ignorant Democrats and the scammers.

CALLER: That’s pretty much it.

RUSH: Well, okay. I mean, that works.

CALLER: Yep.

RUSH: Thanks much. Where we going next?

Shannon in Oregon. Welcome to the program.

CALLER: Hello, Rush. Nice to talk to you.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: Hey, I was wondering if you thought that maybe the smell was starting to wear off the rose here in reference to these reports that have been coming out that aren’t in total favor of Obama’s plan.

RUSH: I caution everyone against thinking that.

CALLER: Uh-huh.

RUSH: Please do not get caught in that trap. Please do not allow any of your happiness or any of the validation of your own point of view to be brought about by the mainstream media agreeing with you. There have always been instances where a sycophantic media in the tank for the Democrat takes a couple steps out of the pool now and then. And they’re doing it here on these jobs numbers because this is patently ridiculous. Saved and created, you got a formula, you can prove it? I mean, everybody looks here and we’ve done nothing but lose jobs. We’re going up to 10% unemployment soon. We’ve lost 3.3 million jobs. These guys are coming out trying to say they’ve saved or created, it is absurd on its face, it’s insulting. But at the end of the day they’re going to be back in the Obama tank. Don’t ever believe the bloom is coming off the rose about State-Controlled Media with Obama or any Democrat. It isn’t going to happen. As I say, you’ll have sporadic instances of it but it doesn’t mean success of anything when it’s happening because it’s not permanent. It’s temporary.

I was talking with Snerdley yesterday, he said, ‘Rush, the difference between Republicans and Democrats, look at these Democrats, look at this energy, the one thing I admire about them, they get up every day and they try go get 15,000 things done, and they never stop, they just keep coming at us, coming at us, coming at us, where are the Republicans? The Republicans, even when they ran the House, they did not try to get all this stuff done this fast.’ I said, ‘Yes, they did.’ People have forgotten. Early on in the Republican House starting in 1995 when they were assembled and sworn in, these guys balanced the budget in two or three years, they were making tracks. Here’s the big difference. The big difference is that when the Republicans were doing that, guess who starred on television all day and all night? The same Democrat cast of characters that you see now. And what were they doing? They were lying. They said Republicans wanted to starve children. There were no school lunch cuts, but it got started that there were school lunch cuts. Then they had little kids sending in messages to Newt Gingrich: ‘Please don’t starve us, please don’t starve us.’ And the media went right along with it.

Even when the Republicans are in power the media’s objective is to get ’em out of power. The Democrats remain the stars. So the problem here is that it is really tough to withstand that. When you’ve got the media and the Democrat Party aligned against you proclaiming everything you say is a lie, that you hate this group, you hate that group, you’re trying to starve this group, you’re trying to send this group out on the street homeless and so forth while you’re going about your agenda, and put you on defense, and you simply, ‘Oh, no, this is not what we’re doing,’ it’s a psychological thing. I once postulated a theory. I knew it was going to happen. The Republicans had not been the majority party and thus had had no power for 40 years in the House of Representatives. And all of a sudden on a dime they were the majority and in many cases it was because there were a lot of freshmen in the House who had never been there. Now, we still had a Democrat president that the press was enamored with and loved, but it was hard for these Republicans to shift on a dime from being in the minority to having no power to all of a sudden having it.

The Democrats consider it their birthright, liberals consider it their birthright. It is their attitude. They awaken with it. They go to sleep with it. They dream about it. Even when they’re out of power, they act like they’re in power, and the press helps them. So my point here is that when this is stopped, and when there are enough Republicans in the House and Senate to effectively put the brakes on all of this, and if someday they ever get a majority back in the House, they’re going to have to really learn to put up with what they know is coming. The press is gonna hate ’em, lie about them and try to get ’em out of office, they’ll be propping up the Democrats, the Democrats will be the primary guests on the Sunday shows, the Democrats will be the primary guests on the cable shows at night. The Democrat message will be the message of the country. We’ll start getting messages of the tyranny of the majority, the minority must have an equal say here while Pelosi is shutting Republicans out totally and Obama is shutting Republicans out totally. It’s going to take a new breed of cat to put up with life in Washington as members of the majority. And if you think — tie this all together — if you think, or if you’re going to define ultimate success as the media supporting what we want and what we say, what we do, forget it, for you are forever going to be miserable and unhappy.
