RUSH: Tom Daschle, anybody else would be indicted. And by the way, this Obama business, I purposely didn’t start with Obama so that the media wouldn’t think I’m obsessed with Obama. I started with me so they’d think I’m obsessed with me. But I’m watching Obama up here — (laughing) — he actually said, ‘If we don’t do this Porkulus bill, we are never going to recover, our economy is never going to recover.’ That was an out-and-out lie. Fear and panic are setting in. This is the great unifier. This is the guy that was going to make love and happiness and contentment flow to each and every one, and they’re just using fear and crisis to keep people on edge. This is not presidential what this guy is doing, the way he’s acting, the things that he is saying, it is not presidential the way he’s approaching the American people. Tom Daschle, you and I, we would be indicted. Here, listen to this. This is Daschle. We put together one of our classic montages here as Daschle excuses what he did while we found audio listing what he did.

DASCHLE: The Obama administration has put a very high standard on public service. That’s especially true when it comes to taxes.

GARRETT: Failed to report $73,000 in 2005 —

DASCHLE: — all my life I’ve assiduously tried to pay my taxes —

GARRETT: — $89,000 in 2006 —

DASCHLE: — in full and on time.

GARRETT: — $93,000 in 2007.

DASCHLE: When I realized the mistake, I notified officials, and I paid the tax in full.

GARRETT: — car and driver he was given by a close friend —

DASCHLE: My failure to recognize that the use of a car was income and not a gift —

GARRETT: — failed to report $83,000 in income.

DASCHLE: — but that’s no excuse.

GARRETT: He’s made more than $5 million in the private sector.

DASCHLE: I deeply apologize to President Obama and to the American people.

RUSH: You know what I think? I think Daschle knew about this all along, and we know that he knew about some of this last summer. I think he waited to see who won the election before deciding whether to pay this stuff off. And after Obama won, he knew he was going to have to pay some of this stuff off if he wanted to be in the Obama administration. If Obama had lost, we would never know, none of this would have ever come up. Remember, this is just like The Torch.

TORRICELLI: To challenge my integrity is beneath contempt. I do not deserve this treatment.

ATTORNEY: Two watches, a Rolex watch, diamond earrings for his girlfriend.

TORRICELLI: I have never —

ATTORNEY: A television set.

TORRICELLI: — ever —

ATTORNEY: Oriental rug, grandfather clock, other antique items.

TORRICELLI: — done anything —

ATTORNEY: Suits.

TORRICELLI: — at any time —

ATTORNEY: Approximately 14 deliveries of envelopes of cash to Torricelli’s house.

TORRICELLI: — to betray the trust of the people of the state of New Jersey. Never!

RUSH: Bob Torricelli, Tom Daschle, you know, I’ve always wondered, we’ve talked about this here on the program, why did Democrats not care about tax increases? We now know. They don’t pay taxes, period.
