RUSH: Barney Frank today made a speech at the National Press Club. I have a total of five sound bites. I just want to play two of them for you right now. Here is the first.

FRANK (sped up): I’ve had people come to us and complain, ‘Well, if you do that, I can’t make any money.’ The answer is that’s not my job. We’re not here to help you make money. We are here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who will use it productively.

RUSH: Do you people get this? I’ll tell you what he just said. He says he’s got people coming up to him and complaining, ‘Well, if you do that,’ meaning this law, that piece of legislation, that tax, ‘I can’t make any money.’ And Barney says, ‘The answer is that’s not our job. We’re not here to help you make money. We’re here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who use it productively.’ (laughing) I told you last Friday, one of the side benefits — and I’m not gonna give a whole lot of weight here — these people, when they have what they think is unchecked power, they will, most of them, start being very, very honest about who they are and what they want to do. And this is a teachable moment.

By the way, I accused the president of stealing that phrase from me. He used that phrase, ‘teachable moment,’ when he went into the press conference on Friday afternoon, showed up as a surprise to say he’s invited these guys to the White House to have a beer and threw Gates under the bus. So here’s Barney Frank. In his district, every business probably has heard this from Barney Frank for years, and they still vote for him. ‘It’s not our job to help you make money. We’re not here to help you make money. We are here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who use it productively.’ You can interpret this two ways. He’s either talking about taxes or paying people who use the money you pay them productively that work for you. But I don’t think it’s the latter. I think he looks at business; you are there to provide funds, taxes to people in Washington to use it productively. That’s the purpose of a business. I guarantee you that’s the way Obama looks at it. He looks at the whole private sector as revenue generation except he takes it. Now, here’s the next sound bite from Barney Frank.

FRANK (sped up): Let me go back to my youth, and to the days when radio had a function other than the spewing of venom. And when fiction on the radio was labeled as fiction. [laughter] And there are people who in the financial community want, some older people here will catch the reference, they want to revert, return, they want to return to the thrilling days of yesteryear. [laughter] And let me make one amendment — they want to return to the thrilling days of yesteryear when the loan arrangers will ride again. And in this view, the loan arrangers will be accompanied by their faithful and submissive companion, government. And that is not going to happen.

RUSH: So now he’s threatening the financial system, you know, your glory days are over, man, it ain’t going to happen. Government is not going to be a submissive companion. We are going to be the fist and the shackles around your neck.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Every argument the left is advancing is being demonstrated to be intellectually baseless and wrong. Obama’s method of creating jobs. Obama’s method of doing health care. The whole global warming hoax is now starting to be seen as such by more and more people. Everything these people… This ought to be a giant national teaching moment. These people ought to never, ever be entrusted with power again — and more and more people are going to realize that as they do more and more damage. And the more Barney Frank goes out there and tells businesses, ‘It’s not our job here in Congress to help you make money. That’s not our problem. That’s not our job.’ I can’t remember what he said. Here, grab the sound bite, Ed. It’s number 26. Barney Frank in a speech today at the National Press Club.

FRANK (sped up): I’ve had people come to us and complain, ‘Well, if you do that, I can’t make any money.’ The answer is that’s not my job. We’re not here to help you make money. We are here to help have a system in which you will make money as an incident of your providing funds to those who will use it productively.

RUSH: So the more they keep talking like this, the more they keep doing Obama-type policies, the more people are gonna wake up and realize there is no hope (laughing) and the change is not what they thought it was going to be. But all of these hoaxes, every one of these things. Like Global warming is a classic example. It’s just the diving board. It’s just the springboard for them to advance another part of their leftist, big government, socialist agenda. It’s what the eEconomic plans are all about, and what the health care plan is all about and it’s what cap and tax is all about. And, by the way, the ChiComs and the nation of India are telling us to go to hell. Especially India. ChiComs, whatever they want us to do, we’ll do, because they own us.

But what the Chinese and the Indians are both saying this: ‘Look, we are not going to do this stupid carbon emission tax trick you want to put on us. You didn’t have any restraints in your economy when it was growing, well, our economies are just now starting to grow, and we don’t want to restrain the growth. If you want to kill your own economy, you go ahead, but you’re not going to kill ours.’ That’s what the nation of India and the ChiComs are saying to Obama. Meanwhile, George Bush is ‘hiding evidence’ of global warming. Now, China and India happen to be, if you believe this nonsense, two of the biggest contributors to climate change. I frankly think it’s all hooey (and more and more people do), but if you’re going to have an effort to ‘save the planet,’ and you’re going to exempt two of the three largest polluters, but what’s the point?

China is number one. If you are going to exempt them, doesn’t the whole intellectually and honestly — doesn’t the whole reasoning break down? Which not about saving the planet, ’cause we’re not. If the number-one polluter gets to still pollute, and if the Third World does not get to advance, then they gotta still, you know, live in malaria infested swamps. Because they’re not allowed to advance and grow. And yet these are the people, the left, the liberals who tell us that they have all the compassion and they want people freed from whatever bondage they’re in. Yet when you listen to people like Barney Frank or Barack Obama, you understand that they got a different idea of bondage, and that’s us in it. (sigh) Honestly. You know, I had a dream. I had a dream that I was a slave building a sphinx in a desert that looked like Obama. I woke up at four o’clock in the morning.
