RUSH: Now you know, ladies and gentlemen, now you know why President Obama does not want you or anybody else listening to me. The story that we had on the stealth health care reforms in the stimulus bill, we did it in the two o’clock hour yesterday afternoon has now become mainstream news. It’s all over the place, even Senator Specter didn’t know that it was in there, and he was questioned vigorously this morning about it on the Fox News Channel.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Barack Obama is in Fort Myers doing a town meeting for the second day in a row at the same time a program hosted by the man he doesn’t want anybody listening to is also on the air. I listened to a little bit of it during the break. The people in Fort Myers, Florida, are obviously far more jazzed than the people in Elkhart, Indiana, were yesterday. In Elkhart, the town meeting yesterday seemed like a funeral. Today, this seems like a church service down there. Obama will say something, ‘We gonna stop the bickering in Washington.’ ‘Amen bro! Amen,’ all this amen, like a church service down there. ‘We can’t keep doing the same thing.’ ‘Amen, brother, amen, bro.’ ‘My people don’t want handouts, they want to work hard.’ ‘Amen, bro, amen, amen.’ Not a whole lot of amens, but just they’re scattered from around the crowd. Now Obama is taking questions and answers.

The Senate is getting ready to vote soon on their version of the pork bill, which also contains nationalized health care. The stimulus pork bill being voted on in the Senate contains the nationalization of health care, the computerization of everybody’s health records, rationing of medical care for seasoned citizens. If you’re a seasoned citizen and you go to the doctor, you have an ailment of some kind, the doctor will do a test. The doctor will then consult your medical records. The doctor will then consult federal guidelines to find out if you are to be treated. And if the cost of your treatment as a seasoned citizen is deemed by the government to be too expensive based on how much longer you have to live, then you don’t get treated. The architect of this is one Tom Daschle, and he says much like Governor Dick Lamm of Colorado, (paraphrasing) ‘Old people, you gotta come to grips with your circumstances, you gotta come to grips with your diagnosis and understand we’re all going to die sometime and it’s your turn.’ This is in the Senate stimulus bill.

I want to know what happened to the saucer. I have a very simple question. What happened to the saucer? I remember the first time I interviewed Mitch McConnell on this program, the Republican leader in the Senate. He described to me that the Senate is the saucer underneath the cup, perhaps even boiling cup of coffee or water. The House of Representatives is the scalding hot liquid inside the cup and the House is moving at breakneck speed, the House is doing this and doing that, and the Senate is where the whole thing slows down. The saucer is where all of the heated liquid — coffee, water, whatever it is — in the cup overflows and it cools in the saucer. The Senate thus slows things down to apply reason theoretically and deliberation to the overheated and out of whack speed with which things occur in the House. Well, I’ve heard that description by more than just Senator McConnell. The obvious question today is where is the saucer? Both bodies are proceeding at breakneck speed on purpose. The Democrats are running the show in both the House and the Senate. They want this done, and I’ll tell you why they want it done. They want it done so that fewer discoveries take place as to what’s really in this.

You can be guaranteed that most members of the House and Senate have not read every page or even close to every page in their respective pieces of legislation. They’re just ramming this through because the Obama economic plan is spending, spending, spending, doesn’t matter on what. Just get the government involved in as many things as possible.

RUSH: In the stimulus bill, the Porkulus bill which has passed the Senate 61-37 [which means it could not have happened without the three RINO Republicans]. Now it goes to the conference report where hopefully somebody will be able to slow this down and stop this insanity. In this Senate bill, there is the nationalization of American health care. There is a new bureaucracy created, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, which will monitor treatments to make sure that your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective regarding your treatment. It’s going to be just like the UK! When you go to the doctor, your doctor is going to have to consult either a book, a computer program, or maybe even make a phone call to find out what kind of treatment you can get and how much to charge for it based on how much the government’s going to reimburse him for it. As such… The author of this plan, by the way, is former senator from North Dakota — or South Dakota, I’m not sure which one; I get them confused — Tom Daschle who asks for airtime for this message.

(playing of Tom Daschle spoof)

RUSH: It’s in the Senate bill, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let me correct myself again, on the final Senate vote I mistakenly said it was a slam-dunk of 67-31 on the final Senate vote. It was 61-37, and without the three RINO Republicans, Collins, Snowe, and Specter, this thing would not have passed. These three Republicans, by the way, were hounded by the Drive-By Media, ‘How can you let Obama fail, the new president?’ They were just hammered by the media, and they buckled to the pressure. So now the whole thing goes to the conference with the House. I ask again: ‘Where’s the saucer? Where is the damn saucer? The Senate’s supposed to be the saucer that cools the overheated stuff in the cup which comes from the House.’ There’s no saucer. The Senate didn’t slow anything down! They didn’t get deliberative. Nobody knows what they’ve signed here, as is evidenced by national health care provisions being in the stimulus package.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: All right, Susan in Pittsburgh as we go to the phones, welcome to the EIB Network. Nice to have you here.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: I just wanted to voice how disgusted I am with Senator Specter voting for the Porkulus bill.

RUSH: Yep.

CALLER: You know, if he would have read Betsy McCaughey’s article at RushLimbaugh.com about the health care provision —

RUSH: He was asked about it this morning. He was asked about it on TV on Fox. He was asked about it before he voted on it.

CALLER: Yes, but does he realize that had his cancer been diagnosed under this bill he may not have been treated because he’s too old —

RUSH: No.

CALLER: — and his National Coordinator of Health…?

RUSH: Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah. I hate to tell you you’re wrong, but members of Congress are exempt from all this. They have their own health care. He’s not going to be affected. Obama, nobody else can be subjected to this. You don’t understand liberalism, Susan. I hate to… The liberal elites are not going to have to use the same program they devise for us! Specter will still have his own Senate government health care plan.

CALLER: That’s true. You know, because I mean, look at all of his friends. They get sweet mortgage deals. They’re not being prosecuted for tax evasion.

RUSH: Exactly right.

CALLER: Exactly. That was what I was thinking.

RUSH: Exactly right. They go out, they can cause run on banks and be celebrated and reelected. Chuck Schumer.

CALLER: God. Well, call him daily, and I voice my disgust, and it’s all for naught, I think, because he just doesn’t listen to his constituents.

RUSH: Well, a lot of constituents have that opinion about their representatives and senators. You know, I think they’ll now use the excuse, ‘Okay, well, we’ll see what happens here in the conference.’ But I just saw David Bonior, the ‘pit Yorkie’, was on some show. I think it was MSNBC, and he was echoing, you know, Obama is now out there saying that comprehensive health care reform is a must under the stimulus.

RUSH: John in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I’m glad you waited, sir. Nice to have you on the EIB Network.

CALLER: Yes, sir. Thank you. I just wanted to share that I was so frustrated this morning and yesterday trying to voice my displeasure with our Senator Arlen Specter’s decision to vote for the impulse bill. I couldn’t get through e-mail, couldn’t get through phone, was always busy, said the voice mailbox was full, so I got to the point where I took the copy of my e-mail to Arlen Specter’s local office, and I just had to register my protest about his arrogance and for not hearing the voice of the voters of Pennsylvania. It’s just frustrating beyond belief. And although they have a count of the number of calls that have come in and e-mails, I said there’s just no way you could know how many calls and e-mails haven’t gotten through, and they said they’re swamped, and I said, ‘Obviously there’s a lot of people that don’t want to see Arlen Specter vote for this bill.’ And they said, ‘That’s true, there are a few that are for it, but most are against.’ And I just thought it was arrogance.

RUSH: I heard yesterday that the calls coming into Washington offices are hundreds to one against this. It’s rivaling the amnesty bill and so forth. I can’t explain it to you. Even after Senator Specter understood this morning what health care provisions are in this — I can’t explain this to you. I could try to come up with something pithy that would rely on the fact, well, they made a commitment before they knew what was in it, or they were hounded by the press, or who knows what. But it’s a crying shame when this thing wins 61-37 and it passed with three Republicans. These guys in the Senate had a chance to distinguish themselves like the Republicans in the House did, and they might be relying also, John, on the fact that they can straighten this out in conference. Susan Collins actually said that there’s some things in this she doesn’t like and if they don’t get fixed in the conference committee with the House version of this bill she’s not going to support it, so we’ll see.
