RUSH: Minneapolis, Minnesota, area. Here is Jules. I’m glad you called. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos, buddy.

RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.

CALLER: Rush, I have a simple question.

RUSH: All right.

CALLER: Since President Obama and Hillary Clinton refused to send any help to the Americans that were under attack at the embassy —

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: — and they even told the heroes who said they were going in on their own to help, they told those heroes to stand down, what did President Obama and Hillary Clinton actually want to happen to all those Americans at that embassy? Did she want them dead? What did she want to happen?

RUSH: No. I’m really, really glad that you called, because this is a fascinating answer. I mean, the question is absolutely great. And the answer, I think, if I can do this right, if I can express what I know to be the case correctly, then it’ll have been worthwhile. No, they did not want anybody to die. That’s the last thing they wanted. This is why they can’t be trusted. The left, in my opinion, cannot be trusted with these kinds of positions. They are not aware of the possibilities. They’re not aware of the consequences of their actions.

Now, I’m being frowned at by people on the other side of the glass. Do you guys in there really think they wanted the ambassador to die? Do you think that they thought there was some positive to that? Let me tell you a little story, 1960 presidential campaign. I’m nine years old, and my dad is very much opposed to John F. Kennedy. And I remember asking my dad, “Is he a bad man, daddy? Why don’t you like him?”

He said, “No, son, I don’t think he knows what he’s doing.” And he told me the following story. He said, “If I grabbed a baseball bat here in our kitchen and started swinging it, I doubt that I would hit anything, but if I stood on a chair and started swinging a baseball bat, I probably would hit the light bulb and destroy the lamp, not intending to, and I think that’s what Kennedy would do. I think he’s going to start a war not knowing what he’s doing. I don’t think he’s competent.” That was his way of sharing with a nine-year-old what his real concern was about JFK.

Now, to try to relate this to the Benghazi situation, there were just things more important. And the thing that was more important than anything else was the election and the agenda. The Benghazi thing happened on 9/11. It’s not supposed to happen because Obama has told everybody that Al-Qaeda’s on the run and we’d beaten terrorism, that bin Laden is dead. Therefore, what’s happening can’t happen. It can’t be happening. And if it is, we have to concoct a different explanation for people that will not harm me or us and our reputation. So they came up with the video and spontaneous protest. The reason they didn’t send any assistance in is because they didn’t want to offend the Libyans.

They didn’t want to give birth to the story that there was something to defend. They didn’t think the ambassador was gonna die. You may find this hard to believe, but if you think Obama took this seriously, why did he vanish at five o’clock? If he’s told what’s going on and says, “Okay, you guys deal with it, I got something else –” and he goes at five o’clock to do something and nobody to this day knows where he went, what he was doing. There’s an arrogance and a conceit and a narcissism about these people that that stuff just doesn’t happen, and if it does, it’s somebody else’s fault.

No, they didn’t want the ambassador to die. No, they didn’t want these other people to die, but they wanted something else more, and that is not to be harmed. They rolled the dice. So when people did die, they had a panic circumstance to deal with, and that’s why we’ve got all these cockamamie explanations for it. They didn’t want Chris Stevens to die. They didn’t want him to be tortured. They didn’t know this was going on at the time. Who told them? We didn’t know any of this ’til after the fact. “Attack” means a bunch of protesters are throwing rocks at the building, to them.

Look, nobody is gonna convince me, no matter what you think of these people, nobody is going to convince me that they wanted people to die. I’m telling you, there were just things more important to them at the time. They didn’t want to admit that Obama hadn’t won the War on Terror. They didn’t want to have to admit that Al-Qaeda was still alive and kicking. These whistleblowers were threatened. They were told to shut up if they wanted to keep their careers. There were just things more important to them. Defending that embassy or that consulate when those attacks were taking place, in their minds, would have exposed them and would have created questions they didn’t want to answer.

“I thought you said Al-Qaeda had been beaten back? I thought you said that War on Terror was over?” They didn’t want to deal with that at the time.

Mr. Snerdley just said the fact that an attack on September 11th is happening means nothing to them. The fact that it was September 11th, after they’d be bragging about killing bin Laden, and it didn’t even occur to them they might be attacked. I don’t think it occurred to them they might be attacked. This is what I mean about them being incompetent. I don’t think it occurred to them that there would be an attack, and so when one happened… Folks, how many times have I told you, I know these people like the back of my hand. I know liberals better than I’ve known anybody in my life. I mean, groups of people.

Isn’t it obvious as we look back that they weren’t even prepared for an attack? They didn’t think it possible. They believe their own BS. It’s not just Obama saying Al-Qaeda’s been beaten back and on the run and there is no more terror. He believes it. These people, particularly him with his messianic complex, they believe this stuff. So when what they believe is thrown up in their face as untrue, they can’t admit that. They will never be wrong, no matter what happens, they will never be wrong.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, I realize how lonely this job of mine can be on days like this, trying to explain the left to you, and when I offer the explanations, you reject them because you are judging them in the same rational way you would judge anybody else. You can’t do that. We literally do not have any common ground with these people. There isn’t any bipartisanship possible. When you are pampered like these people are, particularly Obama, when you’re pampered, you start out thinking you are the God’s gift to creation, and then you’re treated that way your whole life. And then at the pinnacle of your career you are treated that way by everybody in your circle from the media on down to every donor, you can very easily have a jaundiced perception of yourself.

After 9/11 happened in 2001, what was the left’s reaction? We deserved it. Don’t deny it, folks. The State Department had a panel discussion and a seminar after 9/11, the title of it was, “Why do they hate us?” The State Department. This is the Bush State Department. The career people in there are a bunch of leftists. Why do they hate us? It was our fault.

Now, as far as Obama and Hillary and the Democrats are concerned, 9/11 happened because of George W. Bush. The world hated America. The world hated George W. Bush. Remember? Remember all of the attempts — Cyrus Nowrasteh had a movie that ABC edited, wouldn’t make a DVD of, leading up to the events of 9/11, how they happened, and any criticism of Bill Clinton in that thing was scrubbed and eliminated. Even though Bill Clinton in 1998 had warned of the identical things that George Bush warned of, it was as though Clinton never said those things.

The Democrat Party, the American left genuinely, now — do not doubt me on this — genuinely believes the world hated this country because of George W. Bush, because of Iraq, because of Afghanistan, because of the War on Terror. When Barack Obama was elected, the Democrat Party and Obama and Clinton and Hillary and all of them, Biden, you name it, Steny Hoyer, Chris Van Hollen, Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz, they all believed. They weren’t just saying this. They really believed that with the election of Obama, the United States was loved once again. They really believed the terrorists were not going to hate us anymore. They do believe that. That is how much they think of themselves. That is how much they love themselves. They don’t just say these things. They believe these things that they say.

Now you hear them say these things, and you think, well, they’re just bragging, or politicking or maybe being outrageous. They believe this stuff. Need I remind you, General Petraeus is going to testify about the surge in Iraq, and they run ads before he even testifies, calling him a liar? And the whole Democrat Party, including Hillary Clinton, join that chorus? There could not, there would not be, it was not possible and it wouldn’t be permitted any success in Iraq or Afghanistan while Bush was president. It wasn’t possible. Politically they weren’t gonna let it happen, but in their real world, it wasn’t possible. Everybody hated Bush. The Iraqis hated Bush, the Iranians hated Bush, and that’s why they did terrible things to us.

Bin Laden hated Bush. Everybody hated Bush. Everybody hated America because of Bush. They believe this, folks. Then Obama gets elected, and it’s instant love. Go back and look at Obama’s speeches during the campaign. He’s gonna lower the sea levels. America’s gonna be loved and respected again. We’re gonna heal all these divisions. Go back and listen to that stuff. They believe it. You think that’s not possible? They believe it. My point is that when you believe all these things, and when you are pampered and puffed up and treated like royalty by a media, you get further into it, how great you are, how wonderful you are, how special you are.

In the middle of all of this, these people, who you think only did what they did because they hated Bush, attack your embassy, kill your ambassador? And Bush is long gone? That can’t be. There has to be some other reason. (imitating Obama) “It can’t be me,” Obama says, “It can’t be Hillary. They love me. I did that speech in Cairo. I’m The One everybody was waiting for. Can’t be me.” And they think everybody else agrees. It can’t be Obama, so here comes this poor sap that made the video, and he takes the rap. I would contend to you that for a while, they believed that. I would bet you that after they sent Susan Rice out, they believed that. So trying to understand these people — this is why, my friends, this is why I have gotten hoarse over the years hoping, praying, if you will, that people would begin to understand these people as I do. That everything they do is political. That everything is part of their agenda. That nothing that happens is in a vacuum and is just the result of nature. Everything they do.

(interruption)

Well, that’s the thing. The day in Cairo on 9/11, the protestors there are shouting, “We’re all Osama. We’re all Osama.” I’m sure there was shock and disbelief that these people would be mad at Obama for taking out bin Laden. Narcissists cannot possibly understand or conceive of being mocked, made fun of, disagreed with, laughed at. If that happens, they’ve gotta silence that. So, no, they didn’t want these people to die. But they’re living in a state of disbelief that it happened. This can’t be happening. This doesn’t happen to us. We’re not Bush. It’s called denial, folks. So when it is happening, what’s their first instinct? Cover it up, miscast it, mischaracterize it, misdirect everybody’s attention, because it can’t be their fault.

They didn’t want those four people to die. I don’t think they thought they would die. I don’t think they thought this was that serious to begin with. To begin with. Later in the night and day they had no choice but than to accept it, but by that time it’s too late, their denying assistance. They couldn’t afford to retaliate. There is no War on Terror. Obama fixed that. “Mr. Limbaugh, this is absolutely absurd. You really believe this?” I do. Yes, folks, I do. And the sooner everybody else understands this about these people, the better off this country’s gonna be.

That’s why, bipartisan, we don’t have any commonality here. There really isn’t any common ground what we believe philosophically or even strategically. The left will eventually believe and accept anything that they think will advance their agenda and their party. They don’t have any moorings attached to the truth. The truth is what they make it every day. The truth is whatever they are able to shape.

Jay Carney, as we speak, is trying to discredit the Benghazi whistleblowers in the White House briefing. He’s pointing out that the State Department’s Accountability Review Board is closing the book on Benghazi, even though we now know that they didn’t even talk to one of the major players, Mark Thompson. Carney’s out there saying, “Oh, yeah, we talked to them. We got their thoughts on this.” They just didn’t want to act on what they said.

Jay Carney’s out there directly contradicting what the whistleblowers said and had said and are going to testify to. They make their own truth — and if you’ve got a willing, compliant media willing to spread your own truth, can you imagine what that would make you feel like and how invincible you might end up feeling? So, to me, it’s not that complicated. The simplest way to understand it is that this happened, and they weren’t prepared. For whatever reason, they weren’t prepared.

They didn’t think it possible. They didn’t have any contingency if it did happen. But their egos, their self-love… I don’t know what it is that gets in the way. Well, I do know what it is. When you get down to it, folks, they’re incompetent. Can somebody show me any competence in any of these things? Is there any competence in the health care reform? Is there any competence in this immigration? Is there any competence in the economic policy? Is there any competence in how they’re dealing with housing, the debt, the economy, jobs?

Does anybody know what they’re doing here? Charitably? The alternative is they know exactly what they’re doing, and they’re doing it on purpose for the express purpose of empowering themselves further. However you slice it, THEY are most important to THEM. The way they end up being perceived, the way they end up being insulated — whatever, however it takes. They just found things more important that night than what was happening at the consulate — and what was more important was shaping it, defining it.

Remember, we’re in the heat of an election campaign.

To me, it makes perfect sense. I know it’s hard to get your arms around.
