RUSH: The stabbing in a suburban school outside Pittsburgh yesterday. I have the story here from the New York Post: “A bullied 16-year-old boy went on a stabbing and slashing spree at his high school in an affluent Pittsburgh suburb Wednesday morning, leaving 21 teens and a security guard stabbed. At least five students were critically injured, including a boy who was on a ventilator after a knife pierced his liver, missing his heart and aorta by just millimeters, his doctor said. …

“Bullying was rampant in the school, according to previous postings by parents and students in online reviews. ‘It is definitely a rich, white school culture,’ one parent posted last year on GreatSchools.org. ‘The only way to fit in is that you live in a huge house and make over $250,000,’ posted a student. ‘Don’t let your kids deal with the rich kids they [sic] will harass them til they can’t take it no more.'”

So there you go. It was rich white kids attending this school, and one of them got bullied by the rich white kids and struck out. Now, folks, of all the things to say about this story, the only thing they haven’t yet done is link this kid to the Tea Party somehow. Nor have they yet linked the kids who are bullying this kid to the Tea Party. But they’re still trying, I guarantee you, and they think they’re on the way since they’re categorizing the school as a rich, white bully school.

This is just out there. This is gonna be all over the place now, and it’s gonna be a subconscious thing that people accept. They won’t even consciously think, “Oh, yeah, rich and white!” It’ll just enter their bloodstream, if you will, and this will be what every school… (interruption) Is there a…? (interruption) No, no. Of course there’s not a school that doesn’t have bullying. (interruption)

Well, we never hear about bullies at Harvard. We never hear about bullies at Yale.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Johnny in Baltimore, Maryland, as we go to the phones. It’s great to have you on the EIB network. Hello.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Mega blue crab dittos from Baltimore.

RUSH: Mega blue crab…? I thought you said “crap” for a minute, and I’m trying to figure out what did I not know about Baltimore.

CALLER: No, we love crabs here.

RUSH: I knew that. I didn’t know you’re known for “blue crap,” so that’s why I got confused. I know you’re not now, so go right ahead.

CALLER: So I was a fat kid in 1977. I was about as tall as a fireplug, and I weighed about 115 pounds in the fourth grade, and the bullies called me “Earthquake,” and you know what I did? I lost weight. Today, I’m a slim 140 pounds, and I’m a law enforcement officer, and, you know what? The bullies saved my life. I’d probably be dead of a heart attack by now.

RUSH: When did you lose the weight?

CALLER: I’m 45 now, and I have one thing to say: Thank you, bullies.

RUSH: Johnny, when did you lose the weight? They were bullying you in the fourth grade. When did you lose it?

CALLER: In the fourth or fifth grade.

RUSH: What?

CALLER: I lost 30 pounds fourth, fifth grade.

RUSH: Did the bullying stop?

CALLER: It did. It did. Yep.

RUSH: You’re kidding.

CALLER: It was a magic bullet.

RUSH: Really? I will openly admit that I’m surprised. You lost 30 pounds, you didn’t look a fireplug, and the bullying stopped?

CALLER: It did. It was awesome. Best thing I ever did.

RUSH: Normally the bully would continue to harass you on the basis, “See? Look at you. You get a criticism, and you cave. I call you whatever, ‘Earthquake,’ so you go out and lose a little weight. What are you, a coward, not stand up for what you really want?” That’s what I thought a bully would do, but instead, what, did they start picking you for the softball team?

CALLER: I wanted to be like everybody else, so I guess I conformed, and here I am.

RUSH: Oh, the bullies want you to be like everybody else.

CALLER: That’s true. That’s the rule of playground.

RUSH: When I was growing up, bullying, we called it peer pressure, social pressure. At times, it can be a good thing.

CALLER: Right. It has its place.

RUSH: You’ve obviously kept the weight off now at 140 pounds.

CALLER: I have. Yes.

RUSH: And you’re in law enforcement. What hat are you, a uniformed cop?

CALLER: Corrections.

RUSH: Wow. I mean, you’re handling tough cases.

CALLER: We bell the cat every day. It’s true.

RUSH: I like that. Well, look, congratulations just on the weight loss alone. That’s huge. So few people lose significant amounts of weight and keep it off. That’s real rare. Congratulations to you. Thanks for the call, Johnny. I appreciate it.
