RUSH: Boy, think about all of the impact that this snow and cold weather has to be having out there. I mean, there are a lot of places that are not used to this. Some places are and it isn\u00c2\u2019t any big deal. If they get 15 inches of snow in New York, big whoop. They get inclement whether like this in a lot of places, and despite the media, people are used to it.<\/p>\n

But there are places that are getting weather that do not get it regularly and, as such, may not be prepared for it. Think of how many people may have died already and nobody knows about it \u2019cause the media\u2019s not interested. If this were a heat wave, whatever the number is, we\u2019d know. They\u2019d have a daily count up there on the screen, blame it on global warming. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

But because it\u2019s happening here in a deep freeze — I mean, you got the usual media people standing out in the snow telling us it\u2019s snowing. They\u00c2\u2019re standing out in the snow and they\u2019re telling us how hard it\u2019s snowing, which we can see. And then they\u2019re saying, \u00c2\u201cWe\u2019re gonna get back inside real quick, we just wanted to show you,\u00c2\u201d even though everybody knows. And they\u2019re doing the usual, “Remember, now, if you get into a skid when you\u2019re driving, which you shouldn\u2019t be driving, but if you are, remember to turn into the skid. Don\u2019t hit the brakes. That will just make it worse. Pump the brake.” They\u2019re doing all of that, \u2019cause they assume that everybody is stupid and dumb. But, you know, whenever there\u2019s a heat wave we\u2019re always told how many people it\u2019ll kill and then how many people have died. It\u00c2\u2019s just a thought experiment. Imagine if this were a heat wave instead of a cold snap, think about what the reporting would be like, think about all of the deaths that would be blamed on it. Just imagine how the news would be used to try to ram through a carbon tax or some other anti-global warming initiative. <\/p>\n

I tell you, the Drudge page<\/a> today: \u00c2\u201cBrutal weather intensifies, historic ice storm unfolds in South. Georgia warned catastrophic, at least 12 dead. Hospitalizations from sledding crashes, travel impossible, ice from Texas to North Carolina. Cars abandoned on snow-covered roads. Thousands without power.\u00c2\u201d No worry, Google\u2019s working on that with some solar panels. They\u2019re killing birds, but that\u2019s okay, they\u2019re gonna get you power in the next century sometime. Solar. They have these big towers out there in California, you ought to see this. You ought to see this, giant, in the picture I saw, three 750-foot-tall towers. They literally are killing birds in the thousands because these mirrors and the other aspects of the apparatus to create solar power are creating temperatures of a thousand degrees, and the birds are flying through there not knowing, and they\u2019re finding bird bodies with singed and burned wings and everything. <\/p>\n

But, of course, it\u2019s okay to kill birds in the pursuit of solar power or wind power. I\u00c2\u2019ve got a story. I think it\u2019s an Investor\u2019s Business Daily story. I forget, but it\u2019s here in the Stack. It\u2019s a massive project, and of course it\u00c2\u2019s being funded by the government, 1.5 billion dollars or some such thing. It\u2019s incredible what this thing looks like. So they\u2019re working on getting you power in the California desert via the sun and mirrors and dead birds. If you\u2019re freezing, hang in there and be tough. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s it. Valentine\u2019s Day ruined. \u00c2\u201cThousands Lose Power in Eastern North Carolina.\u00c2\u201d It\u2019s just bad out there in a lot of places. It\u00c2\u2019s gonna be 73 here today. (interruption) What is it, Mr. Snerdley? Question? Right. In the immediate vicinity, a thousand degrees in the immediate vicinity, yeah. (interruption) All right, all right, all right, all right. Let me find it, let me find it here. Yeah, at a thousand degrees, it is no doubt heating the atmosphere and the environment. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here it is, folks. And the picture is so small, I could show it to you on the Dittocam. I guess I will. Here, let me turn Dittocam off and zoom in here. It\u2019s gonna be real tough for you to see this but you\u2019ll get an idea. This is in the California desert, all right? <\/line><\/p>\n

Let me hold that. Okay. Yeah, I\u2019ll do my best to describe it. Okay, here we go. Dittocam on. Now what you\u2019re looking at there, that bright light in the middle is a giant mirror on top of a 750-foot tower — and if you look in the upper left-hand corner, you\u2019ll see two more towers, and there\u2019s a mirror array on the ground and a circular array around each tower that you see. The sun hits those mirrors and starts rebounding, reflecting, and creates an atmosphere of a thousand degrees there — and birds are flying through it.<\/p>\n

Of course, they are unaware, and they are dying en masse. One of the companies doing this is Google. It\u2019s called BrightSource something, the name of the company doing this. I\u2019m sorry, that\u2019s as close as I can get and that\u2019s as big as the picture is. So it\u2019s typical, what these people are doing here to try to combat global warming. “The $2.2 Billion Bird-Scorching Solar Project — At California\u2019s Ivanpah Plant, Mirrors Produce Heat and Electricity, and Kill Wildlife.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s actually a Wall Street Journal story<\/a>. “A giant solar-power project officially opening this week in the California desert is the first of its kind, and may be among the last, in part because of growing evidence that the technology it uses is killing birds. US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz is scheduled to speak Thursday at an opening ceremony for the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating Station, which received a $1.6 billion federal loan guarantee.<\/p>\n

“The $2.2 billion solar farm, which spans over five square miles of federal land southwest of Las Vegas, includes three towers as tall as 40-story buildings. Nearly 350,000 mirrors, each the size of a garage door, reflect sunlight onto boilers atop the towers, creating steam that drives power generators. The owners of the project — NRG Energy Inc. …” So look, I don\u2019t know if you\u2019re aware of this. We\u2019ve got people in America having fits over the stray dogs in Sochi. <\/p>\n

NBC did a feature on the stray dogs — the poor, hungry, starving, straggling stray dogs in Sochi. So Americans are organizing massive efforts to save \u2019em and bring them here. In the meantime, we are frying birds in an expensive, stupid effort to stop mythical global warming out in the desert. It\u2019s no problem, and nobody says a word except I, El Rushbo — me, El Rushbo — and it\u2019s gonna make electric bills skyrocket. <\/p>\n

Those of you that are freezing and starving, I just wanted to show you the picture. Google and the gang are working on producing electricity for you outside Vegas in these giant towers. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
