RUSH: Grab sound bite 26, \u2019cause we have talked about, they want to extend the minimum wage<\/a>. This is the Secretary of Labor. This is Obama\u2019s labor secretary. They\u2019ve been running things for five years. Keep that in mind as you listen.<\/p>\n

PEREZ: I was in New Jersey earlier this week — or last week, in Jersey City — listening to baggage workers who were working at Newark airport talking about how they\u2019re making choices between food and health care, how a guy\u2019s son just turned 16. He had to look him in the eye and say, “I can\u2019t afford to buy a birthday present because I gotta buy food for us.” These are stories that we hear all across the country!<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Why didn\u2019t Obamacare fix this? Why hasn\u2019t Obama fixed this? You guys have had five years of Obama policies, and they\u2019re out there (this is the Limbaugh Theorem<\/a>), the labor secretary, saying, “These poor TSA workers, baggage handlers at Newark, are saying, ‘Oh, my God, son, I can\u2019t afford to buy you a birthday present! Frankly, you\u2019re such a rotten kid you don\u2019t deserve one anyway but I can\u2019t \u2019cause I have to buy food for us. Mac and cheese. That\u2019s it.'”<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now today Obama\u2019s out talking about income inequality and how rotten it is for people in this country, and he just went out and did it again. He just issued a fatwa — executive order, sorry. My bad. He issued an executive order raising the minimum wage for federal contractors from $7.25 an hour to $10.10.<\/p>\n

Now, he had telegraphed this last week that he was gonna do, but he did it. Right there. He\u2019s gonna sign it here in just a second. Who needs Congress? “Well, Rush, they\u2019re federal contractors. What the hell? He is their boss<\/a>. He can do whatever he wants.” Oh, of course! Why didn\u2019t I think of that? Big signing ceremony, there it is, Obama. Don\u2019t forget, that sound bite we just played. Here, grab 26. Play this again, with a little time to put this in context. <\/p>\n

This really is amazing. It\u2019s the labor secretary, Thomas Perez. He\u2019s at the White House, a daily press briefing. This is in conjunction with Obama raising the minimum wage for federal contractors, and this guy is out talking about how necessary this is. Do you know, by the way — just to remind you. Do you know what percentage of people who are working earn the minimum wage? Oh, it\u2019s 1.2%. We had it last week. <\/p>\n

The number of people who work actually earn the minimum wage is 1.2% of the working workforce — which, of course, is itself a shrinking number. The minimum wage is a purely political football designed by and for the Democrats to demonstrate how they have compassion, how they care about the little guy. So there\u2019s this massive signing ceremony, but as you listen to this bite, keep in mind, Obama and his policies have been in force now for five years.<\/p>\n

The unions are his buddies. He has gone out of his way in these five years to throw goodies to his union buddies, but this sound bite makes it sound like that we\u2019ve got a Republican president who\u2019s trying to shut down every union shop in this country — and, lo and behold, this guy, Barack Obama, is this lone warrior trying to save the day. Here\u2019s the sound bite, Tom Perez at the White House earlier today. <\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Really? You? After five years of you guys in office, you\u2019re getting these kinds of complaints? What about this guy\u2019s health care? How\u2019s he affording that? He forgot to include the guy being unable to afford health care. This guy, the labor secretary screwed up. It\u2019s not about food. It\u2019s about health care. (interruption) Yeah, it\u2019s in Chris Christie\u2019s New Jersey. Oh, yeah, and the Democrats still haven\u2019t given up on trying to link Christie to the traffic jams. <\/p>\n

Now, Christie\u2019s back on a roll of sorts. Grab sound bite 25. This is yesterday in Chicago. Christie went there to cool off, and it\u2019s a Republican Governors Association fundraiser. It\u2019s been hot in New Jersey. It\u2019s freezing in Chicago. He went there to cool off. He\u2019s the chairman the Republican Governors Association, and he spoke, and this is what he said about Obama\u2019s push for income inequality…<\/p>\n

CHRISTIE: I don\u2019t think the American people want income equality. What they want is income opportunity. One of the big discussions and conversations over the course of the next two years in national politics is gonna be, “Do you want mediocrity or do you want greatness?” You want income equality? That\u2019s mediocrity. Everybody can have an equal mediocre salary. That\u2019s what we can afford. Or do you want the opportunity for greatness?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, that\u2019s true. I\u2019m kind of stunned here. To me, this is like having to re-teach that 2 + 2 = 4. But nevertheless I like the phrase “pursuing income equality is pursuing mediocrity,” and it is. It\u2019s precisely right because the Democrats, when they seek to equalize, always take the people at top and try to bring them down lower than that.
