RUSH: I\u2019m ready for apologies from the Drive-By Media. I\u2019m open, and I will graciously accept apologies from everybody who mocked me and ridiculed me and made fun of me for questioning the unemployment rate last fall before the elections.<\/p>\n

Now, I\u2019m not gonna hold my breath because I know the apologies aren\u2019t gonna be forthcoming, but I want to go on record. I probably shoulda told Cookie to go back and search the archives. Just find two or three examples of me in the months prior to the election predicting to you that the unemployment rate would magically end up below 8% right before the election.<\/line><\/a><\/line><\/p>\n

I predicted that for at least a year, and I was able to make it accurately because I knew that this Regime is filled with fraudulent fraudsters and liars and people filled with deceit. There\u2019s nothing real in this Regime other than their ideology. The reason why the unemployment rate would end up below 8% is because, historically, some statistic out there said that no incumbent president had ever been re-elected with the unemployment rate at 7.9 or 8% or higher — and the magic number was gonna be 8%.<\/p>\n

I predicted it for a year. I mean, I casually predicted it and pointedly predicted that the unemployment rate would end up below 8%, and when the unemployment rate the month before the election came out, I reminded everybody of that — and I\u2019m sure you remember me predicting this. Now, there\u2019s a story, John Crudele in the New York Post today. Crudele, he\u2019s one of their economics editors — probably “the” economics editor — at the New York Post, and he\u2019s been in touch with a man who worked for the Census.<\/p>\n

A man who, it turns out, does the monthly Household Survey for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and that monthly Household Survey for BLS is where we get the monthly jobless rate. And that man that Crudele talked to says that he was told by higher-ups to just make up numbers, to say he had surveyed more households than he actually had. And it is highly possible that this alone might have made up enough numbers to have affected jobless rate.<\/p>\n

Now, we noted at the time in August of 2012 it was at 8.1%, and it went down from that to 7.8% in September, just in time for the real start of the 2012 campaign. By the time you get to September is when the low-information voters start paying attention. They dialed in and they heard the unemployment rate — and, by the way, there was an attachment to that number. It was the lowest unemployment rate since Obama had been inaugurated.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t just that it was now magically below 8%.<\/p>\n

It was that it was an all-time low for Obama.<\/p>\n

And you remember back then that Jack Welch, the former CEO of GE, said the same thing. He even tweeted, “Unbelievable job numbers. These Chicago guys will do anything,” and he caught holy heck from the Drive-By Media. I mean, they were all over Welch — and he didn\u2019t back down from it, and he and I were both right. Now, you have to remember that one of the things that Obama did early on in his tenure was to put the Census under the control of the White House.<\/line><\/p>\n

People were puzzled why he would bother to do that, and maybe now we know exactly why. As Jack Welch and I both said back last fall… But I want to remind you, I was predicting this for months prior. Now, I didn\u2019t pound my fist and make a direct… Maybe I did a couple times. My predictions were casual, you know, just in the midst of casual conversations. “You watch that unemployment rate. Magically, it\u2019s gonna end up below 8%. The president gonna be praised.”<\/p>\n

I remember making that prognostication several times. We pointed out, folks — Welch and I both — that for that number to drop from 8.1% to 7.8%… Don\u2019t forget, nothing was changing. The number of people joining the people in the out-of-work labor force was continuing to climb. The universe of jobs available was shrinking because people were leaving the job market.<\/p>\n

The labor force participation rate was shrinking, and there was no way with people losing jobs and jobs being limited that unemployment was magically down because of job creation. It was not possible. The economy… We made this point at the time. The economy would need to be growing at a breakneck pace for unemployment to drop to 0.8% from 8% — actually it was 8.3% in July, and then 8.1%, and then down to 7.8%.<\/p>\n

Now we know that it wasn\u2019t the case at all. The economy was miserable in the fall of 2012. There was no job growth, because there was no economic growth. Now, there\u2019s a bunch of companion stories. “Well, no, no.” Look, they lied about it. Folks, it\u2019s not just that they lied about that. For crying out loud, let\u2019s look at Obamacare and all the lies about that and Benghazi swinging into the election.<\/p>\n

The lies taking place about that, that a poor sap that did a video was responsible for what happened? At the same time, the IRS took out 500 Tea Party organizations to swing an election. The IRS, also being run from the White House, we\u2019ve learned, did not grant tax-exempt status to 500 Tea Party organizations. We know all of this. We got the Obamacare fraud about you being able to keep your policy and your doctors.<\/p>\n

All of that was said to you falsely so that you\u2019d vote for Obama twice. He was even throwing in the fact premium would go down $2,500. I mean, these are serial lies. These are not standard, ordinary, just everyday political lies and misstatements. These are the result of a calculated deceit, brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed fraud. (interruption) Oh, of course with help from the media.<\/p>\n

The media was right in there. I mean, there was no way Obama wasn\u2019t gonna get elected. Whatever they had to report to convince people that things were getting better and that the future was bright, they did. So much so, ladies and gentlemen, that there is a story in the Washington Post today — actually it\u2019s a bunch of stories in the Washington Post. One of them is, “Obama\u2019s Ratings Tumble After Health Care Flaws,” and there\u2019s a Gallup poll on health care that is just devastating for the Regime now.<\/p>\n

Gallup shows the American people have done a total reversal. The vast majority now do not think the government is suited to run health care, and that\u2019s new. Just up to a year ago and prior, a majority of people were fine and dandy with the government running health care. But in the Gallup poll, it\u2019s done a 180. But there\u2019s also a Washington Post story that takes a look at all of the polling data today, and they lump it in with all the Obama lies.<\/line><\/p>\n

There\u2019s actually a story: If the election were today, Romney would win — by what? I think, six points. That was the scope of the fraud. Oh, and as a little sidebar to the Washington Post story on Romney winning if the election were today, there\u2019s nothing in that story about the Hispanic vote. Now, how can that be? Because we\u2019ve been told that the Republicans don\u2019t have a prayer unless they support amnesty in order to secure a percentage of the Hispanic vote.<\/p>\n

Yet here\u2019s the Washington Post with a story today that Romney would win if the election were today but there\u2019s nothing in it about Hispanics. The reason Romney would win today is because people have discovered the truth about Obama. This making up, this fabricating of the unemployment numbers, this is serious stuff, folks. Let\u2019s Richard Nixon do this. Let George W. Bush try to manipulate government numbers like this.<\/line>John Crudele has found one guy who said he was told by higher-ups to do whatever it took. “In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington,” but not in the Drive-By Media. “The decline — from 8.1% in August to 7.8% in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated.<\/line><\/p>\n

“And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it. Just two years before the presidential election, the Census Bureau had caught an employee fabricating data that went into the unemployment report, which is one of the most closely watched measures of the economy. And a knowledgeable source says the deception went beyond that one employee — that it escalated at the time President Obama was seeking reelection in 2012 and continues today.”<\/line><\/a><\/line><\/p>\n

The unemployment number that\u2019s being reported is bogus, and everybody knows it. In this case, everybody — everybody — knows the economy\u2019s not growing. We\u2019re not in the middle of massive job creation, yet the unemployment number\u2019s coming down — and even the media is now being reduced to reminding people that the only reason it\u2019s coming down is because so many jobs are being lost. Let me put it to you this way: 91.5 million Americans not working, and they want to tout the unemployment rate is going down?<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t wash, folks. There are 91.5 million Americans, human beings not working. Stunning. In the economic powerhouse of the world, 91.5 million Americans, adults, are not working. As I am wont to say: They\u2019re all eating, they\u2019re all driving, and they\u2019re all chatting on the phone, and they\u2019re all watching Tom Brady drop the F-bomb at the officials on Monday Night Football. Did you see that game last night? I actually didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

See, here\u2019s the thing. It was on, but I was activating my new iPad Mini with Retina display. So I started that about, oh, what was it? It was about five o\u2019clock, and I finished at nine. It took me a long time because I had a bunch of other stuff to do, and the game started at eight o\u2019clock, and the game\u2019s on in the background. I didn\u2019t start paying attention to the game even though it was on until the mid-third quarter. That\u2019s not me.<\/p>\n

I mean, in the old days, I would have waited to activate the iPad Mini with the Retina display \u2019til after the game and been up \u2019til three in the morning doing it, but I didn\u2019t. There\u2019s no way, folks, we\u2019re creating jobs — and whatever new jobs being created are part-time, because of Obamacare. There\u2019s no way the unemployment number is coming down. That Washington Post story says Romney would win by the same margin Obama won by, and they don\u2019t say a word about the Hispanic vote. Not a word.<\/p>\n

Yet all these Republican consultants, and all of these Republican establishment moderate types say we can\u2019t ever win — the Democrats say we can\u2019t ever win again — if we don\u2019t go get the Hispanics. And here, if the election were held today with everything being equal, Romney would win by whatever, six or seven points, with no mention of the Hispanic vote. John Crudele of the New York Post has documents, by the way, to substantiate the charges that he makes from the source that he has.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s got documents. Census people acknowledged that manipulation happened. That\u2019s not speculation, because 91.5 million people not working. That\u2019s pretty close to the same number of people who are gonna lose their health insurance next year because of Obamacare.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: Here just one example. This is December 20th of 2011<\/a>. This is almost two years ago. Let me read this first just to make sure… (muttering) Yep. Here we go. Okay, December 20th, 2011, this is me talking about what the unemployment rate will be by the time the 2012 election came around. I said this 11 months before the election.<\/p>\n

RUSH ARCHIVE: Let me tell you something. The Washington Post, ABC — I think it\u2019s them — they had a poll out today that shows Obama\u2019s approval numbers are coming back. And I want to remind you that I have warned you this kind of thing is going to happen. The unemployment number is going to precipitously drop and it\u2019s going to get close to 8% by next November. Just mark my words. That\u2019s in the can. It\u2019s in the cards.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s 11 months before the election, and that is just one of the many times preceding the election that I warned everybody that the fix was in. The fix was in on the unemployment number. How did I know? This is the same old question, and it\u2019s the same answer. I would love to tell you that it\u2019s because I had inside information. I\u2019d love to tell you that, like John Crudele, I knew somebody at the Census Bureau and that they were telling me this was happening.<\/p>\n

But I didn\u2019t, and I don\u2019t. <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know anybody in the Census Bureau now and I didn\u2019t then. What I know is liberals. It\u2019s no more complicated than that. Wherever they are — media, White House, Senate, House, town council, dog catcher — I know them. They lie. As a matter of course, they lie. They have no other choice. So this was an easy call. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: This Washington Post story on if the election were today, Romney would win by the same majority Obama won last year? In this Washington Post piece it says that Obama won women in 2012 by 11 points, according to the exit polls. Today, Obama leads in women by one point. In addition, Obama has seen his lead among young voters 18 to 39 drop from 18% to 2%. Now, I guarantee you this is the kind of stuff that they care about in Washington, this kind of polling number data. <\/p>\n

They care about it at the White House, and they\u2019re gonna look at this, and they\u2019re gonna see Obama losing women and losing the youths. And then they\u2019re gonna start… You know, they\u2019re hell-bent now on saving Obamacare. They really think it could go by the wayside. Obama went and made a phone call. By the way, the website that did his phone call even crashed. He made a phone call to fellow community activists last night. He lied to \u2019em. <\/p>\n

He told them that there have been 100 million Americans enroll in Obamacare. <\/p>\n

The number is 106,000. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s actually half of that. People actually enrolled is half of that, 52,000 before, whatever. But the number of people that everybody is agreeing that went to HealthCare.gov and had something happen to \u2019em is 106,000. Obama told his fellow community activists and organizers on the phone last night that 100 million Americans signed up. They lie, folks. I mean, it\u2019s just no more complicated than that. People don\u2019t want to believe that, apparently, of Democrat presidents. But it is an inescapable fact and conclusion. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I was able to predict the unemployment rate was gonna be below 8% in the last report before the election. It was a no brainer. When you know that there\u2019s a number out there that is historic — no president, no incumbent\u2019s ever been reelected with the unemployment rate higher than 7.9% — I mean, you just know. These are people that were manipulating the IRS, manipulating the Tea Party, manipulating the truth on virtually everything. <\/p>\n

It was a no-brainer they would manipulate the unemployment number. <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s go back to the audio sound bites. This is me on October 5th of last year when the September number came out.<\/p>\n

RUSH ARCHIVE: There you have it, folks. The economy\u2019s back. The stimulus worked. The job council\u2019s programs all worked. Obamacare worked. Look at all the jobs, 114,000 new jobs created, and as I told you last December, this would happen. The unemployment rate under 8%. It\u2019s 7.9, but it doesn\u2019t matter, 7.8, 7.9, whatever\u2019s after the decimal point doesn\u2019t matter. It\u2019s the “7” that matters, and the reason it does is that no incumbent president has ever been reelected with the unemployment rate over 8%. It\u2019s that simple. So they had to get the number down, and they found a way to do it. Going back to my website, I went back and searched the archives, just for three examples of predicting this very day. And right here they are. First, December 20th of 2011<\/a>, this is how the program started: “Let me tell you something. The Washington Post, ABC — I think it\u2019s them — they had a poll out today that shows Obama\u2019s approval numbers are coming back. And I want to remind you that I have warned you this kind of thing is going to happen. The unemployment number is going to precipitously drop and it\u2019s going to get close to 8% by next November. Just mark my words. That\u2019s in the can. It\u2019s in the cards. “<\/p>\n

RUSH: I played you that sound bite from December of 2011. Here\u2019s another prediction in May of 2012. I said, “Well, here we go again. Here we are again, ladies and gentlemen. The unemployment rate\u2019s gone down, and I finally figured it out. While you might think I\u2019m saying this to be funny, \u2019cause I\u2019m a naturally funny person, I know this, one of the most naturally funny people you\u2019ve run into, in fact, that\u2019s me. But I\u2019m not trying to be funny here. Barack Obama has decided that the only way to lower the unemployment rate is to kill off jobs.<\/p>\n

“The unemployment rate went down one-tenth of a percent, 8.2 to 8.1%, but the number of people who left the labor force is an all-time high.” That was me in May of 2012. I\u2019m sure, now that I\u2019ve reminded you, all of you remember this prediction. Again, I\u2019d love to tell you that I was able to make the prediction \u2019cause I knew somebody at the Census Bureau and they told me they were fudging the data, but I didn\u2019t and don\u2019t know anybody at the Census Bureau. And it\u2019s not a simplification, folks. And it\u2019s not laziness, and it\u2019s not simplistic. Fact: They lie. They manipulate. <\/p>\n

You know what this proves? Obama can\u2019t win. The liberals could not win an honest election in this country. If Obama were ever honest about what his intentions were he would never have gotten reelected, maybe not elected in the first place. They have to lie. They have to lie about their plans. I mean, this “keep your doctor, keep your plan, your premium down $2,500.” Those are fraudulent, strategic, planned, well thought out, purposeful, deceitful lies, in order to impact the outcome of an election. They lie, folks. Here\u2019s Jonathan Karl, ABC\u2019s World News Tonight, back on October 5th of 2012.<\/line><\/a><\/line><\/p>\n

KARL: As soon as the new 7.8% unemployment rate was announced, Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives said the White House had cooked the books. Even Jack Welch, the former CEO of GE, went to Twitter to accuse the president of changing the numbers.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And we were right. Again, John Crudele, the New York Post, got a source with documents in the Census Bureau about how the data was fudged. Nothing is real. You can\u2019t trust anything. Do you realize what a bitter pill this is to swallow? In view of the fact that all of the downsides of Obamacare were known a year ago, Obama knew them, the Democrat Party, they all knew that what\u2019s happening today was going to happen. They all knew that most people would not be able to keep their insurance that they liked. They all knew this. It just wasn\u2019t reported. <\/p>\n

The news media journalists and self-described fact-checkers were too busy attacking anybody who dared to point out the truth. And the news media and the fact-checkers decided the people they had to smear were the people who were telling the truth and the people they had to prop up were the people who were lying. And that is exactly what happened. We need not be here, and we are here because of a series of lies that were allowed to stand.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Jack Welch back on October 5th of 2012. This is after this magic unemployment number of 7.8%, the last report before the election. Magically plummeting from 8.3 in July, 7.8% in September, here\u2019s Jack Welch on Cavuto\u2019s show. Eric Bolling was guest hosting, and he said the labor secretary is calling the charge that the numbers have been cooked here ludicrous.<\/p>\n

WELCH: In the last two months, we have gone from 8.3 to 8.1 by changing the participation rate assumption. Now we are going from 8.1 to 7.8 by changing the household numbers assumptions. Look, I don\u2019t know what the right number is, but I will tell you, these numbers don\u2019t smell right when you think about where the economy is right now. This whole number is made up of a whole mess of assumptions, who is participating, who\u2019s not working, who\u2019s trying to work but has dropped out, all these things. It just raises the question. I think there ought to be a good discussion about how this number is calculated, that\u2019s all.<\/line><\/a><\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Well, now there is. Now we happen to know how the number was calculated. It was fudged. It was fudged by a guy at the Census Bureau who was told by higher-ups to just keep adding households to the survey. October 5th and 7th in 2012, a montage of the Drive-By Media calling me and Jack Welch and Donald Trump conspiracy kooks.<\/p>\n

CHUCK TODD: We are corroding trust in our government. Donald Trump and Jack Welch, rich people with crazy conspiracies.<\/p>\n

CANDY CROWLEY: Conservatives continue to suggest that the president\u2019s Labor Department cooked the jobs report for his political gain.<\/p>\n

TOM FOREMAN: The idea of a conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

JONATHAN KARL: This whole conspiracy theory, this is crazy town. <\/p>\n

WOLF BLITZER: Experts are dismissing all those conspiracy theories.<\/p>\n

PETE DOMINICK: That kind of conspiracy talk coming from people like Jack Welch.<\/p>\n

BRIAN SCHWEITZER: You\u2019re going to need more than a tinfoil hat to convince America.<\/p>\n

MARK ZANDI: This is silly, undermine the legitimacy of the political process.<\/p>\n

DAVID AXELROD: They can join the lunatic fringe of birthers. Every respectable economist has said that is nuts.<\/p>\n

JAMES CARVILLE: (crosstalk) Economic birtherism.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That was Mark Zandi who said, “This is silly, undermine the legitimacy of the political process.” Mr. Zandi, it\u2019s Obama and the Democrats and his administration who are undermining the legitimacy of the political process. Again, Census faked the 2012 election jobs report. John Crudele, New York Post, with documents and a source from the Census Bureau. That\u2019s how they reacted. This is exactly what I mean. The media decided to smear the truth tellers and prop up the liars, which they have been doing since January 16th of 2009. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Jack in Leonardtown, Maryland. Hi, Zack. I\u2019m glad you waited. Great to have you on the program. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush. I have done research and I read a thesis about elections, presidential elections and unemployment.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: And what I found was that it\u2019s not so much the static level of unemployment at the time of the election; it\u2019s the trend leading into the election. The effect is if unemployment is falling, there\u2019s a boost to the incumbent — and what I found also is that the effect is much greater in areas that vote red or in swing counties. So, for example, if we saw a 0.5-percentage-point decrease in the unemployment rate, Barack Obama could have expected to see almost 2.5% boost in his polling —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: — in swing counties in swing states, the most important counties in the United States for elections. So seeing this trend data, it absolutely compounds the effect. What I was looking for is, how did Barack Obama win with such high unemployment? It wasn\u2019t that the unemployment was high or low; it was that the trend was coming down.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The reported trend. It was all made up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. Because the national level unemployment, people don\u2019t feel it at a local level. I also looked at state and county unemployment, and there is some effect with county unemployment, but I believe it\u2019s a different type of information. So when people in your county are unemployed, you feel it \u2019cause your neighbors feel it. You know, it\u2019s like what Ronald Reagan said. What is it the quote? You know, when it\u2019s a recession? I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know what the quote is. I want to go back to what you said, Zack.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The media last year, AP and others, were saying that the important thing is the “trend.” The number was high no matter how they sliced it, so they kept telling people who pay attention, “It\u2019s the trend that\u2019s important, and it\u2019s going down. There is improvement monthly in the unemployment numbers.” So the low-information crowd thought, “All right, the stimulus is working.
