But you just gotta hear the smarmy reaction of Dingy Harry and what he says here will last for about, oh, two hours. Here\u2019s Dingy Harry ecstatic, announcing it\u2019s all peace and love now in Washington.<\/p>\n

REID: I thank the Republican leader for his diligent efforts to reach this important agreement. The Republican leader\u2019s cooperation was essential to reach an accord that could pass both chambers of Congress and also be signed by President Obama. This is not a time for pointing fingers of blame. This is a time of reconciliation. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of this great Capitol to pass this remarkable agreement.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah, a remarkable agreement, another trillion dollars of debt to pay off previous debt that Obama says isn\u2019t new debt. Oh, they\u2019re so ecstatic and the Drive-Bys are so ecstatic, and, oh, the opposition, boy, they are just the best people \u2019cause they finally gave up, and it\u2019s so bad we\u2019re not even gonna blame \u2019em for a couple of hours. In fact, we\u2019re gonna even make it look like they get some of the credit here. Don\u2019t you like that? The Republican leaders\u2019 cooperation was essential. <\/p>\n

You know what that is? That\u2019s Dingy Harry trying to get Mitch McConnell defeated in Kentucky. That\u2019s what that is. “Well, I couldn\u2019ta done this without Mitch McConnell. I could nota made this happen. We couldn\u2019t have gone a trillion more dollars into debt, and I couldn\u2019t have got something that Barack Obama will sign without my great colleague on the other side of the aisle.” So Dingy Harry here has just produced a great campaign ad for the Democrats running against McConnell. “Oh, yeah, I had nothing to do with this. Mitch McConnell made this happen.” He-he-he.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Events happen, and we react to \u2019em in a flash moment, and Harry Reid just went to the microphones and now that the deal is done, now that the Republicans have caved, for the next couple of hours it\u2019s gonna be like this. <\/p>\n

REID: I thank the Republican leader for his diligent efforts to reach this important agreement. RUSH: Absolutely. Yeah. What that is, just to reiterate, he just tried to hammer the last nail into Mitch McConnell\u2019s reelection coffin in 2014 in Kentucky. He just credited Mitch McConnell for this. He said it wouldn\u2019t have happened without Mitch McConnell, “My Republican leader colleague.” Harry Reid knows how much you hate this. He knows how much we hate this. That\u2019s why he\u2019s happy. Obama\u2019s happy. Now, Harry Reid might go two hours today. Obama won\u2019t be able to help himself. They\u2019re throwing parties at the White House. <\/p>\n

I want to take you back to what Reid said in 2006. Again, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any value in this in terms of persuading people. I mean, nobody\u2019s gonna hear me read this and say, “Oh, Reid said that? Well, I don\u2019t like him today.” It\u2019s just interesting to know. When Bush was in the White House and Republicans wanted to raise the debt limit for the same reasons the Democrats have been giving, “Well, we gotta pay off our bills, my God, we\u2019re the US, we can\u2019t default. I mean, we\u2019re the leaders of the free world. We gotta pay off our debts.”<\/p>\n

The Democrats, Obama was one of them, Dingy Harry, said, “If my Republican friends believe in increasing our debt by almost $800 billion today and more than three trillion over the last five years is the right thing to do, then they should be up front about it. They should explain why they think more debt\u2019s good for the economy. How can the Republican majority in this Congress explain to their voters that trillions of dollars in new debt is good for the economy? How can they do that? How can they explain that they think it\u2019s fair to force our children, our grandchildren, our great-grandchildren to finance this debt through higher taxes? And that\u2019s what it\u2019ll have to be. Why is it right to increase our nation\u2019s dependence on foreign creditors?” <\/p>\n

And then he said, “Most Americans know that increasing debt is the last thing we should be doing. After all, I repeat, the Baby Boomers are about to retire. Under the circumstances, any credible economist would tell you that we should be reducing debt, not increasing it. Democrats won\u2019t be supporting this debt ceiling increase which will weaken our economy.” That\u2019s seven years ago. Today they are throwing a party over raising the debt limit. <\/p>\n

So today there is no debt problem. It\u2019s perfectly fine to go in more debt and it\u2019s not a problem with the Baby Boomers, and it\u2019s not a problem with the American people, and we can go to our voters and we could tell \u2019em this is crucially important. We have to do this to maintain the full faith and credit of the United States. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve gotta go into further debt. Yeah, this is blatant hypocrisy, but it\u2019s more than hypocrisy; they\u2019re just flat-out liars. They\u2019re nothing more than purely partisan political beasts. And that\u2019s fine. But the Republicans don\u2019t play in that arena. The Republicans do not speak up. The Republicans do not criticize. They don\u2019t push back against any of this, because they\u2019ve been tricked into believing people hate them if they do. <\/p>\n

The Democrats can engage in the most reprehensible, mean-spirited, vile, vicious verbal attacks known in politics, and they get praised for it. Bill Clinton gives speeches about how conflict is good for politics. Meanwhile, the Republicans and their consultants and their big money people run around, “You better shut up. You better not criticize Obama. You better sign on to amnesty and sign on to all this other stuff.” It\u2019s absolutely ridiculous. These Democrats are pure partisans. There\u2019s not an ounce of principle in them, as the Dingy Harry quote proves. And Obama said much the same thing when he voted against raising the debit limit in 2006. <\/p>\n

This is nothing but politics. It was all about pushing back against Bush, denying Bush anything that would help him or the country or the Republican Party because that\u2019s not their game. Their game is power, do whatever they have to to get it, doesn\u2019t matter. So now Harry Reid is happy, and Obama and the Democrats are happy we\u2019re adding a trillion dollars, \u2019cause we have to, and it\u2019s not a problem. It\u2019s not a problem for the Baby Boomers. It\u2019s not a problem for the entitlement structure. It\u2019s not a problem for anything. We gotta pay off our bills now. And, by the way, Obama says now it\u2019s not even new debt, and he says that with a straight face and the Drive-By Media applauds. They don\u2019t even question it. <\/p>\n

Can you imagine if George Bush said, “Well, we\u2019re not adding debt here. We gotta pay our bills.” Do you think that would fly with these people?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
