RUSH: My friends, I am so excited. I have been waiting for this day to be able to tell you something. I have been waiting with bated breath. I have been chomping at the bit. I\u2019ve almost let it slip out of the bag a couple of times, and now I don\u2019t have to worry about it slipping out of the bag because today I can announce it. <\/p>\n

No, no, no, I did not buy Apple computer, and I didn\u2019t make an offer on the New York Times or any of that. This is so cool, and I\u2019ve been wanting to tell you all about this for the longest time. It has been an amazingly productive, fun, busy past bunch of months. For the longest time, 20 years, people have been urging me to write another book, and particularly my good friend, the late Vince Flynn<\/a>. The last three, four years, every time that we would get together — he called me Rushbo — he said, “How\u2019s the book coming, Rushbo?” <\/p>\n

He thought it was necessary. It wasn\u2019t something just to do because it was the next thing to do in the career line. He said, “You need to do this.” <\/p>\n

I said, “Vince, I\u2019ve done it. I\u2019ve been there and I\u2019ve done that. I\u2019ve done the conservative manifestos, and everyone else has done \u2019em, too.” <\/p>\n

And he said, “Well, why don\u2019t you put together a compilation? Look at all the monologues you\u2019ve done on the radio and you\u2019ve preserved all of them on your website. You could get somebody to edit those things and put together three or four books of some of your greatest monologues, each one a chapter.” It\u2019s a great idea, but I never moved forward on it. And then out of the blue… well, the timeline is kind of sketchy on this, but my wife, Kathryn, in conjunction with Vince\u2019s entreaties to me, came up with an idea that literally lit a fire under me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

She said, “You know, you\u2019re always talking about how history is being mistaught. You\u2019re right. You\u2019re always talking about what kids are learning these days, and they\u2019re not learning about the greatness of America. They\u2019re not learning about the founding days. They\u2019re not learning the right things about the people, the great people, the exceptional people who founded this country.” And she said, “Why don\u2019t you write a book for kids? A series of books for kids, maybe — see how the first one goes — that sets the record straight on American history.” <\/p>\n

And so that is what has happened. And what we have done, we have brought to life Rush Revere, our character at Two If By Tea. And we have today the ability to announce to you a book that is aimed for everybody, but it\u2019s for kids, to learn the truth about the very early and beginning days of this country, but it is a book for everybody to buy. Everybody has kids in school, and they\u2019re worried sick about what they\u2019re learning. And some of you don\u2019t know what to do, how to counter what your kids are being taught, and so Rush Revere to the rescue here. <\/p>\n

The book is Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans. It is by me, and I\u2019m gonna zoom in on the Dittocam here and I\u2019m gonna show you the cover of the book. The book is available for pre-order as we speak at Amazon. It is available at iTunes. It is available as a hardcover. It is available as an audio book, and, you know, ladies and gentlemen, I don\u2019t talk about myself much. I really don\u2019t brag much. It took about three nights to do the audio book, and I have to tell you, I am as proud of the reading of the audio version of this book as I am of anything I\u2019ve done. It\u2019s gonna be quite an addition to the hardcover. You can search my name, you can search the title, just go in there and search “Rush Limbaugh” or search “Rush Revere.” <\/p>\n

Now, I don\u2019t want to give away the book. Remember, it\u2019s a kids book, but you get the book and you read it with them or you read it to them or you have them read it. It\u2019s for everybody. I don\u2019t want to give an age-group here because I don\u2019t want to exclude anybody, \u2019cause the book is for everybody, but it\u2019s written for young people, and it\u2019s written honestly, and it does not have an agenda. It\u2019s just the truthful history of the Pilgrims, who they were, where they came from, why they came here, what happened when they got here. The true story of Thanksgiving. There\u2019s no politics in this. Ages 10 to 13, something like that, is the age group it\u2019s written for, but it\u2019s for everybody. <\/p>\n

The book is a way, folks, of teaching what isn\u2019t being taught. People ask me all the time what they can do beyond voting to effect change in the country. And I ask myself that, too, what can I do besides the radio show? And when Kathryn had this idea, I mean, for 20 years people have been urging me to write a book. “Nah, I don\u2019t want to.” And Vince, “You know, put together a compilation of your monologues.” “Nah, I don\u2019t really want to.” When she mentioned this to me, that lit the fire. That was something I hadn\u2019t done. That was an area that I hadn\u2019t targeted. I talk about it all the time. I lament what\u2019s going on in schools all the time. But this is my way of doing more than what I\u2019m doing now. It is a way of teaching what isn\u2019t being taught. This isn\u2019t being taught. <\/p>\n

We live in an amazing free country, founded by people with unwavering spirit and determination to triumph, regardless of the hardships and obstacles they faced. And they faced hardships and obstacles that we don\u2019t even know. Yes, it\u2019s Kindle. It\u2019s an e-book. It\u2019s Kindle. It\u2019s iBooks, it\u2019s hardcover, it\u2019s audio books. It\u2019s available for pre-order today. It actually comes out on October 29th. That\u2019s when the book will be made available. So, yes, that means that the Los Angeles school system can order a copy of this book for the one million iPads they just purchased for students. Exactly right, Snerdley. There\u2019s a million sales right there just in the LA unified school system, a million iPads. This is ideal for iPads. It\u2019s ideal for the iPhone. <\/p>\n

But our president, President Obama, recently said exceptional Americans are few and far between. Do you remember that? There was some discussion, as there often is, “No, Rush. That\u2019s not what he really meant.” Well, maybe not, but he said it. And the fact is way too many people believe it. Way too many people believe that prosperity, success, or whatever is an exception now, that it really is impossible — and it\u2019s not, folks.<\/p>\n

And times are tough for a lot of people today, but they\u2019re not tougher that they were for the people that founded this country. It\u2019s an amazing, amazing story. It\u2019s a miraculous story, the blessings of God and any number of other things that led to the founding of this country. But exceptional Americans are not few and far between. It\u2019s quite the opposite. You start from the early days, people like William Bradford who was the grand pooh-bah of the Pilgrims on the Mayflower and who set up their first settlement.<\/p>\n

This country is made up of exceptional people and stories of rags to riches. They made it with hard work, determination, a little luck, and God\u2019s grace. So in Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims, we have brought to life our loving character from Two If By Tea, Rush Revere. We\u2019ve given him a horse. We\u2019ve given him a talking horse! Liberty talks. Liberty has the ability to time travel. So in this book, Rush Revere and Liberty will go to the Mayflower and talk to the Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower as they\u2019re sailing to what will become America.<\/p>\n

Rush Revere is a substitute school teacher at a middle school anywhere in America, and he will take a couple of students with him to the first Thanksgiving, and they will learn all about it. Again it is a unique way of reaching the target audience here, which is America\u2019s young people — who are, sadly, not being taught what is in this book. And what\u2019s in this book is the historical record, accurate historical record of the Pilgrims. It\u2019s who they were, why they existed, where they were, how they got here, what they did when they got here, and what they did and why it mattered and related to the founding of this country.<\/line><\/p>\n

It\u2019s fun, and when you establish the premise that your lead character can go anywhere in history with his talking horse… I mean, I don\u2019t want to spoil it. (laughing) I\u2019m so excited. Kathryn is gonna kill me, here, but… (sigh) Well, this may not be the only one. Let\u2019s speak hypothetically. Let\u2019s say, “If there\u2019s another one…” What I really want to do is I want to have Rush Revere… Remember, now, the educational part. What we do here is we combine information, education, and entertainment, which makes the learning of history fun, which is the key for this audience.<\/p>\n

So Rush Revere may someday time travel back and give King George a bunch of crap for the way he treated the early colonists and ask what the hell was he thinking. Remember the purpose of what\u2019s being taught here. Let me give you an example: There is a professor at Michigan State University by the name of William Penn. A conservative student group recorded one of his lectures recently.<\/p>\n

It was taped on August 29th, about six or seven days ago, in his classroom. It was released to the public earlier this week by Campus Reform. This is what kids are being told in classrooms all across the country…<\/p>\n

PENN: If you go to the Republican convention in Florida, you see all of the old Republicans with the dead skin cells washing off them. They are cheap. They don\u2019t want to pay taxes because they have already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could. They don\u2019t want to pay for your tuition because who are you? … Republicans are not a majority in this country, anymore. They are a bunch of dead white people. Or dying white people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you able to understand that? All right. Here, let me translate it for you. Again, the professor, ironically, is named William Penn. Here\u2019s what he said. He\u2019s a Michigan State University professor, addressing a classroom full of kids. He said, “If you go to the Republican convention in Florida, you see all of the old Republicans with the dead skin cells washing off them. They are cheap.<\/p>\n

“They don\u2019t want to pay taxes because they have already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could. They don\u2019t want to pay for your tuition because who are you? … Republicans are not a majority in this country, anymore. They are a bunch of dead white people. Or dying white people.” You may think this is extreme. It\u2019s not. This is common. This is common on university campuses all across the country. “They don\u2019t want to pay for your tuition”?<\/p>\n

Look at what the assumption is, that we ought to be paying for college students\u2019 tuition. And guess what? Obama wants to! Obama will pay for your tuition. Evil, villainous Republicans will not. “[A]ll of the old Republicans with the dead skin cells washing off them. They are cheap. They don\u2019t want to pay taxes because they have already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could. They don\u2019t want to pay for your tuition because who are you? … Republicans are not a majority in this country, anymore. They are a bunch of dead white people. Or dying white people.”<\/p>\n

Now that you know what he says, listen to it again. Knowing what he says, you might be able to hear some of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So, anyway, that\u2019s what\u2019s common, and that\u2019s something that has made me mad for I can\u2019t tell you how long, and it has frustrated me for I can\u2019t tell you how long. I\u2019ve heard horror stories that depict things just like that sound bite — and I\u00c2\u2019m sure you have, too — and it really irritates me. Because this country is great, and the people who made this country possible were great, and the people who made this country great are role models.<\/p>\n

They are worth being taught about. They are worth knowing. They are worth learning about. And it isn\u2019t happening, and it isn\u2019t happening properly. So I have succumbed to the public demand to do another book, and this is it. Rush Revere! As you see there, I\u2019m holding it up again on the Dittocam: Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims. It\u2019s a time-travel adventure. Again it\u2019s so much fun because the lead character is our tea icon, Rush Revere and his talking horse.<\/p>\n

They can go anywhere they want. They can meet anybody they want. They can introduce you to anybody they want. There are no limits. It\u2019s for your kids. It\u2019s for your grandkids. Pre-orders are now up at Amazon, iBooks, hardcover, e-book, audio book, which is tremendous amount of fun, too. So I\u2019ve been chomping at the bit to tell you this, and we\u2019ve had to keep it a secret because the publisher didn\u2019t want any news of it out. But, boy, it\u2019s just been tough! (exhales) So I\u2019m just so happy I\u2019ve been able to tell you about it finally.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Everybody asks, “What\u2019s the age-group?” It\u2019s 10 to 13, but really, folks, it\u2019s for everybody. It\u2019s a book for parents to give and grandparents to give — to share, read together, learn together — \u2019cause it\u2019s fun. It\u2019s, sadly, unique. <\/p>\n

But it\u2019s just clean as it can be. So much fun! It\u2019s fun to do. There\u2019s no limit to the imagination. Kids can dream all they want. You can take \u2019em along on your own dream and bring them with you, and teach the substance at the same time. ‘Cause this book, it\u2019s a way of teaching what isn\u2019t being taught. This is something that\u2019s bugged me, I can\u2019t tell you. The title: Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims. <\/p>\n

The horse\u2019s name is Liberty, the talking horse. <\/p>\n

So it was fun. <\/p>\n

RUSH: I want to read to you the full transcript of what this Michigan State professor said. And, by the way, this guy teaches writing. It\u2019s not a political science class, not a history class, not a current events anything class. This idiot is teaching writing. You know something else that\u2019s always puzzled me? I don\u2019t have kids. Knowing what I know today, I would not be obsessed with my kid going to college. Everybody\u2019s parents want their kids to go to college, and I wonder, “How many of \u2019em know the garbage that they\u2019re subjected to?” It\u2019s not all garbage, particularly a specialty, medicine. But you get into law, or political science, or almost anything, and it\u2019s nothing but the liberal agenda on steroids, taught by the furthest thing from teachers. <\/p>\n
