RUSH: The latest on The Oprah story <\/a>is that the low-information entertainment network TMZ has just launched a salvo into The Oprah about this. <\/p>\n

The UK Daily Mail with one story, before we get to TMZ, “EXCLUSIVE: Swiss Store Owner at Center of Oprah\u2019s ‘Racist\u2019 Handbag Storm Demands to Speak to Star After She Says ‘Sorry For the Fuss\u2019 — The owner of the upscale Swiss boutique where Oprah Winfrey claimed she was barred from buying a $38,000 by a ‘racist\u2019 sales assistant today demanded to speak to the star she branded ‘over-sensitive\u2019 and insisted her employee did ‘everything right.'”<\/p>\n

Let me read to you from the story. This is not my editorializing. The story actually says: “The rather fearsome-looking Trudi Goetz,” that\u2019s the store owner. Have you seen a picture of her? Well, I have, too, and I can see it. “The rather fearsome-looking Trudi Goetz said she wanted to speak with the talk show billionairess ‘as soon as possible\u2019 and also revealed her petrified member of staff will not be sacked or punished.”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So the rodeo clown treatment is not going to happen to the saleslady at the upscale bag store in Zurich. She said, “I don\u2019t know why she talked of racism. I am sorry, but perhaps she is being a little over-sensitive here. Maybe she was somewhat offended because she was not immediately recognized in the store.” See, they\u2019re fighting back over there. Maybe The Oprah was just upset because they didn\u2019t roll out the red carpet and recognize who she was. But I think this is a teachable moment on several levels, especially since it\u2019s beginning to look more and more like The Oprah may have decided to relate a composite experience. <\/p>\n

Now, you know what I mean by that? In one of Obama\u2019s autobiographies he took a bunch of women that he had known and combined \u2019em into one woman. And when that was exposed by David Maraniss, the autobiographer, we were told, that\u2019s no big deal, that is a clever tool used by really brilliant authors. It\u2019s called the composite character. Rather than take up so many pages and so many words describing each and every woman, the president brilliantly combined them into one woman. And that\u2019s a composite experience. <\/p>\n

So it\u2019s beginning to look here like The Oprah may have decided to relate a composite experience. Something happened in one outing and another time she went to a store something else happened, and another time she went to a store, this happened, and she took all of these various instances and she combined them into this one visit to the bag store. Yeah, like Obama\u2019s girlfriend, exactly. Composite. Obama\u2019s girlfriend, his first autobiography<\/a>. And the reason I say this is because The Oprah seems to be backing away from the claim that it was all due to racism. <\/p>\n

<\/a>Now, the article points out here that in her latest interview The Oprah seems to suggest that it might all have been due to the way she was dressed, which is entirely possible. It could also be because Oprah is a plus size, and the assumption is made that plus size people, because they live in food deserts, are not rich. I don\u2019t know why that\u2019s controversial. You know as well as I do that one of the signs of wealth in women is that you can barely see them. They\u2019re so skinny. Tom Wolfe had a name for them: social x-rays. You could see their rib cages through their skirts, dresses, whatever that they wore. They were so thin that if you ever embraced one, their ribs could bruise you. Social x-ray. <\/p>\n

Now, sometimes you\u2019ll find a very solid gut, big guy as a wealthy guy. But you don\u2019t find wealthy women wearing plus sizes. Not by rule. There are exceptions, of course. I don\u2019t want to mention any names. I think this might have been it, but it\u2019s looking less and less like it was racism, is the point. Now the TMZ story. It\u2019s low-information voter alert here. TMZ, which is the website, the network of low-information entertainment voters, picked up this story, and they\u2019re basically calling Oprah a bully. <\/p>\n

I\u2019m reading from the TMZ story: “Last night Oprah said, ‘I think that incident in Switzerland was just an incident in Switzerland. I\u2019m really sorry that it got blown up. I purposely did not mention the name of the store. I\u2019m sorry that I even said I was in Switzerland.'” And the TMZ story then says, the problem is that O\u2019s full of it. What did she think was gonna happen when she went on national TV and cried racism? The media was just gonna ignore it? And then at the end of the story, they say, “Come on, O, you\u2019re smarter than that, and so are we.” So the official website of record for low-information voters is not buying The Oprah\u2019s story.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
