\"Listen<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: So, ladies and gentlemen, I just… it hasn\u2019t even been an hour yet. I told Greta Van Susteren that I would sit down for an interview with her here in the studio for her Fox television show. She has been asking me for the past week, and I said, “No.” And she kept asking, and I said, “No, I don\u2019t like television.” I said, “No, I don\u2019t want to be on TV.” And finally I get up at seven in the morning and there are two e-mails from Greta saying, “Please, please.” I had to do it, to stop the e-mails. So I did it.<\/p>\n

We just did an hour and 20 minutes, nonstop. How many questions did she ask? Five, six or seven? The thing about Greta is that she lets me go. She asks a question and then takes the rest of the show off. I\u2019m never short-changed. In fact, there were a couple of instances where I thought, “You know, I\u2019ve got diarrhea of the mouth going here. I just need to stop.” <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It\u2019s going to air tonight. She\u2019s got at least two shows. Well, a minimum of two shows because an hour on cable news is about 40, 42 minutes. And this was an hour and 20, nonstop. You know, live-to-tape would have been, if we stopped for commercial breaks. Didn\u2019t do that. It was a straight hour and 20 minutes. Anyway, the reason I\u2019m telling you this of course is to hype it and to promote it. I\u2019m gonna be very honest with you. It\u2019s nothing that you all haven\u2019t heard, but there is something to seeing it said on TV.<\/p>\n

(interruption)<\/p>\n

What are you frowning at me about? I\u2019m just telling the audience — Snerdley is saying, “No, you shouldn\u2019t tell \u2019em that because you always say something different.” Well, okay, I\u2019ll allow for that, but, I mean, the thrust of it you all have heard. So, I mean, just trying to be honest with you. But it is what it is. She\u2019s been promoting it a lot. My reason, other than hyping it, to tell you this is that it totally interrupted show prep today. About all I\u2019ve got here in my Stack of Stuff is Weiner<\/a>. Well, it\u2019s all I\u2019ve had a chance to go through. I mean, I\u2019ve got more than that here. I got here a little early and I tried to get some early show prep done and I succeeded in getting some of it done but I didn\u2019t have access to any of it. You know, I print all that I like, but the printer — the whole room had been torn apart for this.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: H.R., I need to ask you a question. H.R. just said something in my IFB about, “We\u2019re getting the idea that you really like TV.” What do you mean by that? Does it sound like I\u2019m complaining about this? Oh. Oh, yeah, well, it blew my show prep day, but I\u2019d rather do that than stay here after the program and not get outta here \u2019til — the last thing I want to do after three hours is to try to act like I haven\u2019t said anything yet, \u2019cause I knew it was gonna go longer than an hour.<\/p>\n

Anyway, you know, I have a lot of suck-ups, folks, that hang around me here and they\u2019ve all said that it\u2019s good. There are a couple little funny things, and I fully expect one of them to be edited out. (interruption) Well, she asked me what I thought of what a certain Fox host said about something, and I didn\u2019t know what it was. I said, “Well, what did he say?” I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll edit that out. But when she told me what it was, it was nothing that I haven\u2019t been talking about for 25 years. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

You know, one of the things that came up was the Limbaugh Theorem. She asked me about the “phony scandals,” and what I thought of the phony scandals. I said, “No, no, you\u2019re looking at this the wrong way. You gotta look at what is the purpose in Obama calling them ‘phony scandals.\u2019 You know, why is he on the campaign trail?” I embarked upon an in-depth explanation of the Limbaugh Theorem<\/a> to her, and she gave me a lot of time to go into this. I\u2019ll give you an example. <\/p>\n

This is last night, on Special Report with Bret Baier during the All-Star Panel. This is Krauthammer talking about Obama\u2019s recent push to focus on the economy.<\/p>\n

KRAUTHAMMER: I find it astonishing that he goes around making speeches in which he deplores the state of the economy, the growing income equality, chronic unemployment, stagnating middle class income. It\u2019s as if he\u2019s been a bystander, as if he\u2019s been out of the country for the last five years. It\u2019s his economy! He\u2019s the president. He\u2019s talking as if this is the Bush economy, or, I don\u2019t know, the Eisenhower economy, and he just arrived in a boat and he discovers how bad the economy is. This is a result of the policies he instituted.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, I explained this to Greta. I said, “Back in February I came across a story in the New York Times, Greta. It\u2019s something has puzzled me for four years. This is the first president who has never been held accountable for his policies. This is the first president who remains unattached to his own agenda. This is the first president who has gotten away with making it look like other people are doing what he\u2019s doing.” <\/p>\n

I said, “How can this be?” <\/p>\n

I said, “I\u2019ve been struggling with this for four years trying to understand.” I said, “It\u2019s more than just the slavish media,” and then I cited to her the New York Times story in February just ahead of Obama\u2019s State of the Union address that night (summarized): “New Polls Find Continued Public Dissatisfaction with the Direction of the Country — yet, support for several of the policies the president has said he will push in his second term. <\/p>\n

“A new CBS poll found economy remains the public\u2019s chief concern with fewer than half of Americans approving of Obama\u2019s handling of it. Most Americans also say the president lacks a clear plan for solving the problems. Fifty-four percent say the country\u2019s in the wrong track, and yet six in 10 say that it is likely the president will bring about significant change.” So when I read that, it all suddenly became clear to me. So I devolved or evolved or created the Limbaugh Theorem back in February<\/a>, and I have been explaining it since then. <\/p>\n

Other people in the media are just now realizing it, like Krauthammer here. So I spent a lot of time — well, not a lot, but for a TV interview it was a lot of time — explaining how it is that Obama gets away with remaining unattached to his own policies that are causing all of this misery, and I went in and I told her: “That\u2019s why he\u2019s on a perpetual campaign. He\u2019s always campaigning against. He\u2019s never seen as governing.” This was good because it\u2019s not been said on TV like this. <\/p>\n

So it will be out there, and there are a couple of added points to it and so forth. Anyway, I\u2019m sure it\u2019s gonna start tonight and she\u2019s got 80, 85 minutes. And I don\u2019t think she\u2019s gonna edit much of it. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Eric in Pittsburgh. Eric, great to have you, EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you, sir. Just got three quick things. I\u2019ll be less than 30 seconds. First off, I wanted to say thank you, been about a five-year listener. I got engaged in politics around as soon as Obama got elected in \u201908. I really started engaging. But I wanted to say, when you went on Greta Van Susteren, I think that\u2019s the best thing you coulda done. You show these younger generations what the truth is out there. A lot of these people, these younger kids, just like Weiner. They look at it, and it\u2019s like a cool thing. They think Weiner\u2019s cool<\/a>, you know? Hip, has style. But, you know what, these people don\u2019t even have a clue about the politics, and it\u2019s gonna bite \u2019em. That\u2019s what I\u2019m afraid of. You know, it\u2019s gonna be too late.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know what you mean. Yep, yep. I know exactly what you mean.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But other than that, I think you\u2019re doing an outstanding job. I couldn\u2019t ask for anything more out of you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well —<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019ve really reached out a lot of younger people. Like I said, I\u2019m not a stupid person. I went to college, got my bachelor\u2019s, but I didn\u2019t know anything about politics, until I started watching you. I think a lot of younger people really don\u2019t know and they just look at the cool thing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, they don\u2019t. They don\u2019t. It starts in the education system. It starts with parents who aren\u2019t particularly aware or interested, and it\u2019s pretty safe to say that conservatism does not have a presence in pop culture. Conservatism is, in fact, impugned. It\u2019s laughed at and made fun of in pop culture. I tell you, one of the things I did… I don\u2019t know how it\u2019s gonna look.<\/p>\n

I looked in the camera, and I said, “If I could just reach out of this TV set and grab you and shake you by the shoulders and convince you of one thing, it would be that everything the Democrat Party does is political. You people who claim to not like ‘politics,\u2019 you\u2019ve got to understand: Everything they do is oriented toward advancing a political agenda. If you could recognize that, the more people who could see the Democrats for who they really are…” These people who profess they have no interest in politics and don\u2019t like it are being totally dominated by it unknowingly. <\/p>\n

Anyway, I don\u2019t want to give the whole thing away and I can\u2019t anyway because you have to see it. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I was sitting here thinking, I did this Greta interview today for Fox, and I made a mistake. I told you all when the program started that you\u2019ve heard it all. And actually that\u2019s not true. There are some things that I have not said before that I said in this interview. In fact, I was just going to talk about one of them. I said, “No, I\u2019m gonna hold it until after this interview runs. I\u2019ll give Greta an exclusive.” Not a big deal but there are some things that I mentioned to her that I have not said on this program, and I said some things in the interview in ways I haven\u2019t said. So actually I gave you the wrong impression. <\/p>\n

Snerdley just said, “You just told them they didn\u2019t have to watch.” I said, “No, I didn\u2019t.” He said, “Yes, you did. You told \u2019em they\u2019ve heard it all before.” I was just trying to be honest with you, but as I was thinking about it during the break here at the top of the hour, and I\u2019ve got one thing that\u2019s entirely fascinating to me. It\u2019s about me, but I\u2019m gonna wait. I\u2019m gonna wait for this to be said. It has to do with the news this week about radio stations and all this public negotiation that\u2019s taking place, the Politico story where they\u2019re breathlessly hoping that I\u2019m going to lose stations in New York and so forth. We\u2019ve already got another station. It\u2019s all bogus. But anyway, it\u2019s just public negotiations taking place. <\/p>\n

But there\u2019s something that has happened as a result of it that I was gonna talk about. I\u2019m gonna wait. I\u2019m gonna wait \u2019cause I want you all to watch this because I\u2019m told it looked good. Cause that\u2019s all that matters on TV, it really is. At the end of the day it\u2019s another reason I\u2019m not crazy about TV. I could go on there and be Albert Einstein, and if people didn\u2019t like my shirt, they\u2019d tell me that. It has always bugged me about TV. I remember that when I did my TV show, I had some of the greatest monologues, and I had people saying, “You know, your tie is too loud.” Jeez, what\u2019s the point? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
