RUSH: Okay, Nellie in Aurora, Illinois, great to have you here on the EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello. I was listening to you last week and I wanted to tell you, you are correct. There\u2019s a lot of Hispanics, a lot of us against amnesty. I myself have lost three jobs due to that fact. They\u2019d rather have two illegals instead of me, and I am an American citizen. I\u2019m glad the black people are starting to speak up, too. During that time, they do not want black people working there. They\u2019d rather have illegals working.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nellie, hang on. I need to catch up. What did I say last week that you are agreeing with me about?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That there\u2019s a lot of people that are Hispanics that are against amnesty. Because it\u2019s gonna bring so many people here. We cannot find jobs right now, low-income jobs. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s one of the purposes, I hate to say. You know, folks, I really… Sometimes the truth is really not comfortable, but low-wage labor is one of the reasons that this issue has supporters. It\u2019s one of the purposes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was making $17 an hour. They\u2019d rather have two persons doing my job, not paying Social Security.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, they have to pay that, but you\u2019re talking about the other benefits.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019re downsizing you with two people who are part-time so they don\u2019t have to pay anybody benefits.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. And it\u2019s happening to the black people I have worked with. I have friends, and they find ways for them to get \u2019em out of the job so they could hire some more people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It doesn\u2019t matter. Those people are going to be supporting Obama and the Democrats no matter what. That isn\u2019t gonna change. It\u2019s sad that it\u2019s happening, but it isn\u2019t gonna change the way they vote.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But we don\u2019t like it when they say all of us Hispanic want amnesty. That is not true.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re Hispanic, are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I am.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, you are. Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I\u2019m black, too.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you hate the Republicans?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (pause) I\u2019m independent. I listen to everybody.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but, do you think the Republicans are a bunch of mean people because they don\u2019t want amnesty or they\u2019re not for immigration reform?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No. I think people don\u2019t understand. They do not know what\u2019s going on. They do not listen. They do not read.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They have blinders on. And a lot of things are gonna come down now. Obamacare, this amnesty. Where are they gonna get the money? How many more people are gonna be on welfare? How many people do I see —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — when I have to pay for my groceries —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and everybody else has —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — some card that\u2019s to buy food with?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. Look, I\u2019m an employer. I\u2019ll tell you, when people get a load of what is gonna happen to their paychecks next year when Obamacare fully kicks in and all these other things? It\u2019s gonna be a shock to people. And even then when that happens, the stories are already written to blame Republicans for it. You wait. That\u2019ll be the piece de resistance. “If the Republicans hadn\u2019t opposed this for so long…”<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t think of how they\u2019ll lie about it, but they will. They\u2019ll find a way to blame the Republicans, and when that happens? The Republicans right now are in two separate modes: Whatever the big-money people want, that\u2019s what they\u2019re gonna support; and if people hate \u2019em, they\u2019ll support anything they think will change that. Look, I\u2019m blue in the face. I know how seductive it is, but I\u2019m blue in the face about this. <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know how many times I have mentioned how destructive it is to be so concerned with what other people think of you, but most everybody is. That isn\u2019t gonna change. It\u2019s what drives the media, in fact. Man, if I could wave a magic wand, I\u2019d do a lot of things with it. One of the things that I would do would be magically erase from people\u2019s emotions the fact that they care what other people think about \u2019em. I know that\u2019ll never happen.<\/p>\n

I know that people who don\u2019t care what other people think are gonna remain an undiscoverable minority. It matters to practically everybody all the time, and it also matters to the Republicans. They believe it. They believe that the Hispanics hate \u2019em. They believe the Democrats have succeeded in making that happen. They believe there\u2019s only one thing they can do to change that, and that\u2019s support what the Democrats are in favor of. ‘Cause they think that\u2019ll make people not hate them.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve learned through practical experience that that\u2019s not possible. You can\u2019t behave in a way to change people that don\u2019t like you. You can\u2019t say things in a way that will change people that don\u2019t like you, because it\u2019s about them. People are running around thinking the reason they\u2019re hated or disliked is because of them. It\u2019s something they\u2019re doing wrong, that those people that hate \u2019em or don\u2019t like \u2019em? “They must be right!” It\u2019s a facet of human nature that amazes me, the idea we can\u2019t grant other people this power.<\/p>\n

We think they\u2019re all together. We think they\u2019re all hip. They don\u2019t have any problems, they\u2019re cool — and if they think we\u2019re screwed up, they must be right. It\u2019s just the way human nature is. And then there\u2019s this desire to please people, to please other people. Interpersonal relationships depend on it, and then it expands to practically everything. But it\u2019s giving away so much power. It took me a long time to literally not care, and I\u2019m thought of by many people as really odd in that regard. <\/p>\n

This constant quest for fame. What is it? It\u2019s a desire to have people love you. It\u2019s what it is. All these young kids vomiting everything they have about themselves? They want to be loved. They want to be loved by everybody. So caring about what other people think? In some cases, it\u2019s the most important thing animating people\u2019s lives. I\u2019m just telling you: When it overtakes a political party and supplants their principles and ideological belief system and so forth, then you have problems. <\/p>\n
