RUSH: The Limbaugh Theorem, Daily Caller: “Obama Runs Immigration Bill from White House, According to New Report — The White House is playing a larger role in developing the Gang of Eight\u00c2\u2019s immigration bill than its supporters publicly admit, according to a forthcoming article in The New Yorker.” Ryan Lizza — senior Obama official: “No decisions are being made without talking to us about it.” So the Gang of Eight is not writing the bill. Obama is. But it\u2019s the Limbaugh Theorem. The Gang of Eight is assumed to be writing the bill. In fact, who\u2019s really assumed to be writing it, Marco Rubio. Marco Rubio single-handedly is, at least the optics in the face of the bill is Marco Rubio, when in fact the regime\u2019s doing it. According to the New Yorker, now. Limbaugh Theorem. <\/p>\n

The Limbaugh Theorem shows up every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I don\u2019t have the New Yorker story. It\u2019s behind a pay wall, and I didn\u2019t authorize myself to go waste money on the New Yorker. So I\u2019m — he-he-he-he — I\u2019m relying here — (laughing) I love that. I didn\u2019t authorize myself. Company budget and so forth. So what I have here is the Daily Caller\u2019s take on the article from Ryan Lizza at The New Yorker. Now, in addition to this being an example of the Limbaugh Theorem, it unfortunately might be more evidence of how our side is being played. It is this piece that features a quote for an aide to Senator Rubio about American workers, which is what everybody has noticed from the New Yorker article. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Quote: “‘There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can\u00c2\u2019t cut it,\u2019 a Rubio aide told Lizza. ‘There shouldn\u00c2\u2019t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can\u00c2\u2019t get it, can\u00c2\u2019t do it, don\u00c2\u2019t want to do it. And so you can\u00c2\u2019t obviously discuss that publicly,\u2019 said the aide.” Rubio hasn\u2019t said anything like that, but Rubio\u2019s aide is quoted in the New Yorker piece. Now, the problem with the Rubio aide being quoted is that all that matters anymore is optics, substance doesn\u2019t matter anymore in America. All that matters is optics. And the optics of this aide speaking out make it sound like Rubio thinks that, too. <\/p>\n

I mean, if Rubio has a guy working for him… For example, if Snerdley was out saying stuff in public, or if H.R. was out being quoted in public about something I was working on, you would assume that\u2019s what I think, right? Because you would assume, well, why would these guys be working for me if they disagree with me, number one. Why would these guys being saying this if I didn\u2019t authorize it? That\u2019s what people would think. <\/p>\n

(interruption) The optics. That\u2019s my point. You guys wouldn\u2019t go out and say anything… (interruption) Well, I… (interruption) No, no. You guys… (interruption) Don\u2019t… (interruption) You can\u2019t fool me, H.R. Both you and Snerdley, if you thought I was all wet about something, would find a way to plant that. (interruption) Yes, you would. You\u2019d try to get me steered back on what you think is the right path. (interruption) Oh… (interruption) Now… (interruption)<\/p>\n

Well, you might talk to me, but if you thought I was a lost cause and I was damaging myself, you guys might go out there and offer… (interruption) Well, that\u2019s my point. It isn\u2019t the same as me saying it, but when the Rubio aide is quoted as saying this, everybody\u2019s gonna think that\u2019s what Rubio thinks. (interruption) Snerdley just asked me if Rubio knows what he\u2019s doing to his future. You\u2019d have to assume so. I have to assume that he knows what he\u2019s doing here. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s there; he\u2019s doing it. We\u2019re not. We\u2019re on the grandstand side. We\u2019re spectators here. We\u2019re sitting in the stands. We\u2019re watching what\u2019s happening on the field and commenting on it. We\u2019re not on the field. We\u2019re not on the team. We don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on in the clubhouse in the dugout, to use this analogy. So when you ask me, “Does Rubio know what he\u2019s doing to his career?” I assume he does, but I\u2019m not saying that that means he understands what you think it means. <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think these people go out and purposely sabotage themselves. Now, our side does that unwittingly, but I don\u2019t think they do it on purpose. Anyway, you have this aide — and, by the way, when you go out and say, “There shouldn\u2019t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can\u2019t get it, can\u2019t do it, don\u2019t want to do it,” that\u2019s no different than saying that there\u2019s just some work Americans won\u2019t do. Now, this is able to be more insulting, but let me ask you a question. <\/p>\n

How many people have quit working since Obama took office?<\/p>\n

What\u2019s been the labor force participation rate? It\u2019s down by nine or 10 million people, right? You think it is not true that there are some Americans who don\u2019t want to work? I think it patently obvious there are. I think it\u2019s patently obvious there\u2019s a bunch of Americans that don\u2019t want to work, that they\u2019re perfectly fine the way things are. As long as Santa Claus still lives in the North Pole and still runs the federal government, they\u2019re fine. <\/p>\n

So when you get right down to it, what\u2019s offensive about that quote? What\u2019s offensive about the quote is, somebody\u2019s telling the truth about some American workers, but also a presumption that every one of the illegals wants to work, is qualified, is ready to go, is capable. So, anyway, my point is, the major take from this bill ought not be the Rubio staffer quote. The major thing to take away from this bill is that Obama\u2019s running it, not the Gang of Eight. That\u2019s the major take-away, for me. <\/p>\n

This is from the story: “White House officials also believe the emerging bill will be a huge success for President Barack Obama. — ‘If a Gang of Eight-style bill is signed into law by the president, it will probably be one of the top five legislative accomplishments in the last twenty years,\u2019 [a senior Obama] official said. ‘It\u2019s a huge piece of business.\u2019 The report points out other evidence of close White House involvement. For example, Obama met with four top Democrats pushing the bill on Thursday,” and had direct input into what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n

So, folks, it is a classic illustration here — and I don\u2019t mean to make it about me. Remember, we\u2019re trying to persuade people here. This is the Limbaugh Theorem. Obama is running the Gang of Eight bill from the White House. But the public perception, the optics are that Obama\u2019s doing everything but that. Now, I had a moment to go through the sound bites. I know we\u2019ve got a George Will in here but not the one I want.<\/p>\n

Apparently George Will said Sunday on This Week<\/a> that the immigration bill doesn\u2019t have a prayer. If I remembering this right… I didn\u2019t see it, but there\u2019s a quote out there, and it\u2019s got video attached. George Will says that the House of Representatives will never go along with the Gang of Eight immigration bill as long as it continues to say that the White House is in charge of border security, that if the bill says Congress is in charge of border security, then it\u2019s got a better chance of passing. <\/p>\n

Now, that was interesting to me in the sense that I\u2019ve not heard anybody bring that up, the aspect of border enforcement as far as who\u2019s gonna do it. Border enforcement as a topic? Yeah. Don\u2019t misunderstand. But I never heard that opinion from anybody, and I don\u2019t pay attention to a lot of people\u2019s opinions so I\u2019m not saying nobody else said it. If George Will\u2019s stealing from somebody, please don\u2019t send me a note saying Will is stealing from you. That\u2019s not my point. <\/p>\n

My point is that I hadn\u2019t heard it said before, and I\u2019ve never heard advanced as a theory that the bill doesn\u2019t stand a chance in the House for that reason. It was a new one. Anyway, we\u2019ve got some sound bites on this. Obama\u2019s approval number down eight points in CNN and Rasmussen. I mean, major, major drop. “A new poll offers the most concrete evidence yet that President Obama is paying a political price for the series of controversies that have dogged his administration at the start of its second term.<\/p>\n

“A CNN\/Opinion Research poll published Monday shows Obama\u00c2\u2019s approval rating dropping from 53 percent a month ago to 45%. Meanwhile, his disapproval rate rose nine points to 54% — just shy of an all-time high for his presidency. The poll shows that Americans, by a 61-35 margin, disapprove of how Obama is handling government surveillance of US citizens,” and I\u2019ll tell you where the bottom is falling out with Obama is young people. And everybody\u2019s scratching their heads trying to figure out why. <\/p>\n

What has happened in the last month or two… Maybe it\u2019s a cumulative thing. What\u2019s happened to cause the yutes of America to lose their fascination or begin losing their fascination with Obama.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s another interesting… What should I call this? There\u2019s an interesting assertion in the Ryan Lizza New Yorker piece about immigration. The highlight of the Ryan Lizza piece is that Obama is running the Gang of Eight bill, that Obama\u2019s running the Gang of Eight quietly, in the White House. Everybody in the Gang of Eight knows it. Nobody\u2019s saying anything, because Obama can never be seen as having his fingerprints on anything.<\/p>\n

But the Gang of Eight bill, according to Ryan Lizza, is exactly what Obama wants. <\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t Rubio. It isn\u2019t Schumer. Rubio is the face of it, as far as conservatives are concerned, but it\u2019s Obama\u2019s bill. Now, there\u2019s another interesting aspect in this Ryan Lizza piece. He claims that some Republicans have gotten Fox News on board for amnesty as well. Not the whole network, but this story, when it hits, asserts that some elected Republicans have put pressure on people at Fox News who have changed their minds and have come on board for amnesty. <\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t mention any names. I don\u2019t remember if any Republicans have ever approached me to come on board for amnesty. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s happened. I think I would remember it. If it\u2019s happened. So Obama says that his only opposition is Fox News and me, but if some people at Fox News have been turned, that means it\u2019s me. The Ryan Lizza story says that McCain, Rubio and Graham had discussions with “top hosts.”<\/p>\n

Oh, it does mention names. <\/p>\n

Uh-oh. Oh, no! Do I have to mention the names? Aw, jeez. This is Fox News. The Ryan Lizza story indicates that McCain, Rubio, and Graham had discussions with Bill O\u2019Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Neil Cavuto, and then the story says, quote, “All of whom are ‘now relatively sympathetic to the Gang\u2019s proposed bill.'” Now, I have spoken to Rubio. Rubio has made the case for the bill. He\u2019s been on the program. You\u2019ve heard it.<\/p>\n

I never got the impression that Rubio was putting pressure on me to change my mind about it. In fact, when I talked to him last week, he acknowledged, “I know that you don\u2019t agree with a lot about this bill but I want to explain to you something,” and he started explaining it. I forget what it was. We talked about it when it happened. I just don\u2019t remember. It was something that had been asserted that turned out not to be true and he wanted me to know. <\/p>\n

But, regardless, this Ryan Lizza story in the New Yorker has the potential to shake some stuff up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
