I supposedly cross the line of propriety. I am always pushing the envelope. Yet whatever I say, I think, pales in comparison to what Bob Schieffer said yesterday. Where is the media outrage when Bob Schieffer of CBS compares Obama\u2019s gun initiatives to defeating Hitler? In other words, taking on the NRA is the equivalent of taking on Adolf Hitler.<\/p>\n<p>Now, is there room for that in our discourse today? Why is that not an example of over-the-top defamation, exaggeration? Why isn\u2019t it insulting, not to mention a lack of civility? Comparing the NRA, people like Wayne LaPierre and David Keene and how many millions of Americans &#8212; decent, good-hearted Americans &#8212; and taking out the NRA as Obama\u2019s equivalent of taking out Hitler. Here\u2019s what he said. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"MRC TV video player\" width=\"585\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mrctv.org\/embed\/119445\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>SCHIEFFER: Let\u2019s remember, there was considerable opposition when Lyndon Johnson went to the Congress and passed &#8212; presented &#8212; some of the most comprehensive civil rights legislation in the history of this country. Most people told him he couldn\u2019t get it done, but he figured out a way to do it. And that\u2019s what Barack Obama is gonna have to do. What happened in Newtown was probably the worst day in this country\u2019s history since 9\/11. We found Osama Bin Laden. We tracked him down. We changed the way that we dealt with that problem. Uh, surely, finding Osama Bin Laden, surely passing civil rights legislation as Lyndon Johnson was able to do, and before that surely defeating the Nazis, uh, was a much more formidable task than taking on the gun lobby.<\/p>\n<p><BR\/>RUSH: Right. Now, where is the media outrage at Bob Schieffer comparing Obama\u2019s gun initiatives to the Civil Rights Act 1964, killing bin Laden &#8212; which, by the way, the steps that were taken to kill bin Laden, people like Bob Schieffer don\u2019t approve of. And a movie that was made, Zero Dark Thirty, was shut out of meaningful Oscar nomination because of the portrayal of waterboarding as having been relevant in capturing and finding and killing bin Laden. We can\u2019t have that!<\/line><img class=\"aligncenter\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/RushScheifferObamaGUns.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>And then the Hitler comparison. &#8220;Surely if we can defeat Hitler, we can wipe out the NRA! I mean, surely.&#8221; Why does the left get away with all of these? This man is ostensibly a journalist. He supposedly is a newsman. There isn\u2019t any news anymore! There isn\u2019t any reporting of what\u2019s going on. There\u2019s no telling people what they missed. There\u2019s no people going home at the end of the day who\u2019ve been busy working and haven\u2019t had a chance to have the TV or radio on, and turning on the TV to find out what happened during the day. That\u2019s not what will happen.<\/p>\n<p>If you go home at the end of the day after having been out of touch, you\u2019ll turn on your TV and you\u2019ll find out what a bunch of mean-spirited extremist enemies Obama has, and they all happen to be Republicans and they all happen to have talk shows. Every day, all you get is a never-ending effort to eliminate all Obama opposition &#8212; and not, by the way, in the arena of ideas. They do it by way of smear. Defamation. Slander. As they did with Romney in the presidential campaign. As they did repeatedly with George W. Bush.<\/p>\n<p>What is it with these people comparing their enemies, who happen to be us, to Nazis and Hitler? Remember, it is people on the left who made movies and wrote books about the assassination of George W. Bush, and yet they get all hoity-toity and high and mighty &#8212; they get on their high horses &#8212; and start talking about all this dangerous rhetoric which might lead to violence. Dangerous rhetoric? How about the dangerous provocation that is coming at the American people every day from this White House and their lackeys in the media?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an in-your-face every day, from the White House on down, to over half the people in this country: &#8220;You\u2019re the problem!&#8221; A guy gets home at the end of the day, turns on the NBC Nightly News, CBS News tonight, ABC, whatever, and guess what he finds out? He\u2019s the problem. And our brave, courageous, young president is doing everything he can to take out people like you and make sure that you don\u2019t provide any more opposition. A guy gets home at the end of the day and finds out after a shooting massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, that the NRA is the problem, the modern incarnation of Hitler.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not news anymore, and these people aren\u2019t journalists.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/ScheifferDebate.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re political activists disguised as journalists. Do you know what they loved about the Civil Rights Act? I\u2019ll tell you the truth about the Civil Rights Act. The Civil Rights Act would not have become law were it not for Republicans in the Senate. A greater percentage of Republicans in the Senate&#8230; I can say this \u2019til I\u2019m blue in the face, and it\u2019s not gonna matter. People aren\u2019t gonna believe it. It isn\u2019t gonna make any impact. A greater percentage of Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act than did Democrats. Bill Clinton\u2019s mentor, stated mentor, J. William Fulbright &#8212; a senator from Arkansas &#8212; was a segregationist.<\/p>\n<p>He was opposed to the Civil Rights Act.<\/p>\n<p>Algore Sr. and most of the southern Democrats were righteously indignant and opposed to the Civil Rights Act. The reason the media loves LBJ is because LBJ was governing against the will of a lot of people who didn\u2019t want any part of it. He forced it down their throats. It happened to be a number of Democrats who had to have it forced down their throats! The media loves any president who can stick it to the American people. The media loves any president who can get what he wants, especially if a majority of the people do not want it, such as the elimination of the NRA.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Mark in Tulelake, California.  Hi.  Welcome to the program.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  Good morning, Rush.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  How are you, sir?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  I\u2019m doing well.  And yourself?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  Exceptionally so, sir.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  I wanted to give you a call from the real Northern California.  We\u2019re 300 miles north of San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  That\u2019s Northern California. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  It\u2019s northern.  It\u2019s almost Oregon.  Rush, I just to put make a quick comment on the Bob Schieffer deal you ran a little bit earlier.  I was astounded by the blatant dishonesty of that statement he had.  Your preamble is fine, all the great things that we\u2019ve done as a country, but when he says take on the NRA, what struck me about that is he didn\u2019t mean the NRA.  He meant the Constitution\u2019s Bill of Rights.  He just pasted the picture over what they really want.  Instead of having the courage and the moral conviction to actually introduce and do what they really want to do, they subdivide and select little pieces that they can kind of try and blow by us.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/ObamaKids011613PIX.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  Folks, this is exactly right.  You\u2019re making a good point here.  Let me, for people just joining us, what Bob Schieffer said after Obama\u2019s press availability yesterday on guns, was essentially that taking on the NRA is the equivalent of taking on Hitler.  I mean, if we\u2019ve taken on Hitler, if we beat Hitler, if we got the Civil Rights Act passed, we can certainly take out the NRA.  So there was a moral equivalence as well between the NRA and Hitler. <\/p>\n<p>But your point, Mark, is right.  What is the NRA?  The NRA is American citizens.  The NRA is the American people who have joined an organization that\u2019s devoted to a number of things, including gun safety, but also it is protected by the Second Amendment.  You\u2019re exactly right.  These people are at war with the Constitution.  That is exactly what is happening, and that\u2019s why people are concerned when people come out and agree with Obama or say he\u2019s reasonable, or say he\u2019s responsible.  What about liberty?  What about freedom?  What about the freedom and liberty enshrined in the Constitution?  Do none of you see the assault on that that this all represents?  That\u2019s what you\u2019re saying, correct?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  Correct.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  Exactly right.  He meant taking on the Second Amendment is like taking on Hitler.  That\u2019s what he meant.  Put Second Amendment in there, substitute that for NRA.  He may not even know that\u2019s what he meant.  I don\u2019t know Bob Schieffer.  I\u2019ve never met him personally.  I don\u2019t know how much of an anti-Constitution activist he is.  I know that as a journalist he is nothing more than a liberal activist.  But it is the Constitution that they\u2019ve got their problem with.  If it weren\u2019t for the Constitution, if it weren\u2019t for that damned amendment, there wouldn\u2019t be an NRA. <\/p>\n<p>Well, Snerdley says, &#8220;How come the kids don\u2019t write to him about the Constitution?&#8221;  Now that you\u2019ve put the idea out there, it\u2019s not a stretch.  It\u2019s not a stretch that the president, this one particularly, go on TV and talk about the letters he\u2019s getting from young children asking him about, &#8220;Did the Founding Fathers really intend for what\u2019s happening today to be permitted?&#8221;  I wouldn\u2019t put it past him at all.  Anyway, Mark, it\u2019s a great point.  I\u2019m glad that you made it through here today. <\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  &#8220;Dear Mr. President:  My name is little Johnny, and I\u2019m from California.
