RUSH: Yeah, The Politico is saying that the Obama campaign, they\u2019re gonna go back to the issue of Romney\u2019s tax returns<\/a>, and they\u2019re gonna go back to the issue of Bain Capital. Folks, I\u2019m telling you, they\u2019re out of ideas. They\u2019ve fired their best guns. They fired all their ammo at the Obama campaign. What did they think was gonna be the turning point? Now I\u2019m having a mental block. They thought that something — not the 47%. It was something they thought — it might have been the 47%. Anyway, Benghazi happened and it\u2019s thrown everything out of kilter now. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So now the Bain business, the company that Bain invested in that\u2019s outsourcing jobs to China is a company called Sensata. But guess what? The New York Times is reporting the following: “President Obama has as much as $100,000 in a state retirement plan that contains shares of Sensata Technologies, the same auto parts company controlled by Bain that is closing its Illinois factory.” Obama\u2019s an investor. But the point is, Romney has nothing to do with this decision. He hasn\u2019t been at Bain in 20 years. Now, you notice the campaign, the Obama regime going back to try to tie Romney to Bain, isn\u2019t it fascinating? The same people who think Romney is responsible for a company he left 12 years ago are the same people who think that Obama is not responsible for the last four years of the US economy. <\/p>\n

Now, how does that work? I\u2019m telling you, I don\u2019t want to go overboard here in my optimism. Even poor little Ezra Klein, a poor guy, Ezra Klein, he\u2019s a journalist leader. He\u2019s one of the Drive-Bys. He is a young wunderkind. I mean this guy is the future of the Drive-By Media. He\u2019s got a blog and he writes stuff at the Washington Post. He\u2019s got a piece today, he\u2019s worried that Obama has no vision, Obama lost the vision thing. At least Romney\u2019s got a vision. Romney\u2019s got a five-point plan. Romney\u2019s telling people what he\u2019s gonna do. Obama hasn\u2019t. And Ezra\u2019s worried, very disappointed. <\/p>\n

See, these media people, they had so much wrapped into Obama. He\u2019s a fellow liberal. That means he\u2019s wonderful and great. Obama hasn\u2019t voiced the second-term agenda. He doesn\u2019t dare. He doesn\u2019t dare tell people. All Obama can do is try to frighten people away from Romney. That\u2019s all he\u2019s got, folks. And he hasn\u2019t done it. And that\u2019s why they\u2019re going back and recycling things.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: In this debate tomorrow, the only chance he\u2019s got is to make it about Romney. I just heard that they\u2019re in some sort of a dispute right now, apparently. It\u2019s a town hall, and the ponytail people in the audience ask the questions. Remember, this is the format back in 1992 where we had the ponytail guy who stood up. He asked Bush and Clinton when they were gonna start acting like our parents and treating us as their children. That\u2019s when Bush looked at his watch and thought, “When can I get outta here?” and they said he was bored.<\/p>\n

Clinton, of course, took the question and ran with it. One of the things they\u2019re disputing is: Will Candy Crowley have a chance to do follow-ups? Apparently it\u2019s unclear in the format whether Candy Crowley can do follow-ups after the candidates have answered the questions from the audience in the town hall. The only thing to keep your eye on here is that all Obama can do is turn this on Romney.<\/p>\n

He can equate him to Bain, tax cuts, not paying his taxes or what have you, \u2019cause he\u2019s got no agenda for the next four years that he can admit to. He doesn\u2019t want this thing to be about discussing his record and the economy, which Romney will do. It\u2019s gonna be fascinating to see. These things are always interesting.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, nice to talk to you again. I haven\u2019t talked to you for some years now. But I love to listen to you, and thank you for all that you do for us. You\u2019re such a good patriot.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much. I appreciate that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was gonna talk about “flexibility,” and what I\u2019m referring to is Biden when he keeps saying “malarkey.” <\/a>In other words, he\u2019s saying that Romney is not telling the truth. But if you will recall years ago, Biden wrote a book and he plagiarized that book. He took word-for-word from another book, published a book in his name and then the literary world called him a liar.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He plagiarized an entire career!<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He plagiarized a British politician named Neil Kinnock.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. And then another thing about Bain. People should realize that Bain also raised money for churches and universities and many other places. He did good with Bain, too, the company.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, I could be all wet here, and maybe I\u2019m guilty of too much optimism or whatever. I\u2019m sorry; I just don\u2019t see Obama\u2019s attacks on Bain Capital working. Now, I will admit that I don\u2019t watch my local media. And as such, I don\u2019t see ads. I have people telling me they are livid as they can be as they watch the Obama ads linking Romney to all this stuff. But I don\u2019t watch local news or local channels, so I don\u2019t see any of this.<\/p>\n

I guess I ought to take some time to watch it just in terms of show prep, but I don\u2019t. I just don\u2019t see it working. I see it as been there, done that. They already did Bain. They did Bain back in the primaries; they did Bain early in the season. Maybe their theory is a whole bunch of people are listening and paying attention now that weren\u2019t then. So they\u2019re gonna tie Romney to Wall Street, the banks, the housing crisis, all this the stuff.<\/p>\n

I just think it\u2019s desperation. I think it\u2019s a sign they\u2019ve got nothing<\/a>, and I don\u2019t think Romney has to be defensive about Bain at all. And I don\u2019t think any of you need to be defensive about Bain. I don\u2019t like being defensive, period. I like always being on offense, but I\u2019m sorry. I don\u2019t view Obama as unbeatable. There\u2019s no enthusiasm for Obama. It\u2019s all for Romney.<\/p>\n

Look, I have to shut up here \u2019cause I\u2019m at risk of going too far in the positive direction. It\u2019s too soon to do that. I don\u2019t want to create any overconfidence in people. But I think Obama is a has-been. It\u2019s been there, done that. If Obama hasn\u2019t gotten \u2019em now, there\u2019s nothing he can do. People are running away from Obama. Okay, that\u2019s it.
