RUSH: Lara Logan, CBS News. Do you remember two weeks ago, two Sundays ago, CBS 60 Minutes, she did a story on Afghanistan that was the same night as the Univision show, and I talked about both. This 60 Minutes piece of hers is not flattering to Obama at all. It was essentially about how we\u2019re blowing it in Afghanistan. Well, the Chicago Sun-Times, story by Laura Washington. Apparently Laura Logan went into town, made a speech last week at the Better Government Association\u2019s annual luncheon. <\/p>\n

<\/a>And it says here that she “delivered a provocative speech to about 1,100 influentials from government, politics, media, and the legal and corporate arenas. Such downtown gatherings are a regular on Chicago\u00c2\u2019s networking circuit. Her ominous and frightening message was gleaned from years of covering our wars in the Middle East. She arrived in Chicago on the heels of her Sept. 30 report, \u00c2\u201cThe Longest War.\u00c2\u201d It examined the Afghanistan conflict and exposed the perils that still confront America, 11 years after 9\/11.” That was the 60 Minutes report that she did was on. <\/p>\n

“Eleven years later, ‘they\u2019 still hate us, now more than ever, Logan told the crowd. The Taliban and al-Qaida have not been vanquished, she added. They\u00c2\u2019re coming back.” Lara Logan, CBS News, State-Controlled Media. She said, “I chose this subject because, one, I can\u00c2\u2019t stand, that there is a major lie being propagated. … The lie is that America\u00c2\u2019s military might has tamed the Taliban.” She said to this group of 1,100 influentials in Chicago last Tuesday, quote, “There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years.” That would be Obama, folks, not Bush. “There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years. It is driven in part by Taliban apologists, who claim they are just the poor moderate, gentler, kinder Taliban. It\u00c2\u2019s such nonsense!”<\/p>\n

We have not tamed the Taliban. America\u2019s military might has not tamed Al-Qaeda. She says that Al-Qaeda and the Taliban haven\u2019t been vanquished. They\u2019re coming back, and they\u2019re strong, and they hate us as much as ever. That wasn\u2019t supposed to happen. Remember? They were supposed to love us solely because of Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me remind you who Lara Logan is. This speech that she gave is devastating and it\u2019s in Obama\u2019s hometown, 1,100 influentials, means 1,100 Democrats of various stripes. She\u2019s telling these people that essentially our Middle Eastern policy is a lie and is not working, it\u2019s a disaster. The Taliban and Al-Qaeda are coming back stronger than ever, and we\u2019re getting out of Afghanistan, claiming to leave in victory. They hate us as much as ever. They haven\u2019t been vanquished. That\u2019s why they had to blame the videotape, because with Osama\u2019s death Al-Qaeda was supposed to have been summarily dealt with as well. <\/p>\n
