RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n
CALLER: — famous personality who had their picture on the cover of Cigar Aficionado.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You know, that\u2019s true. I was the first human being to be depicted on the cover — live, in a picture not a drawing — on Cigar Aficionado. That\u2019s absolutely true.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You\u2019re absolutely right. How did you know that?<\/p>\n
CALLER: I got every issue from the first one dating back to 1992.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow. It\u2019s such a great magazine. It\u2019s still — it is still — such a great magazine. Cigar Aficionado. My buddy, Marvin Shanken, publishes that and the Wine Spectator. It\u2019s a great lifestyle magazine. It\u2019s the epitome, the best of any in its field.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: And mine was the only issue that sold out. For a while. Then they had Michael Jordan in there and then I was tied.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I have some sad news about the passing of Andy Williams.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You do sound sad. I was wondering about that. Andy Williams did pass away. He was a friend of this program, by the way.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes. I hope he lives on in the Animal Rights Update.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Ha! (bursts out laughing) I\u2019ll tell you the story here, folks. You know, we\u2019ve been vigilant on this program in opposing the animal rights movement, climate change, all of these left-wing movements which are just disguises for the expansion of government. And we decided in one of our earlier incarnations of the Animal Rights Update to play Born Free by Andy Williams. It was the theme song of a movie. It was about a couple of lion cubs or something, tigers or whatever. (interruption)<\/p>\n
What? Yeah, Elsa the Lioness. So what we did… I\u2019m gonna assume here the broadcast engineer is ready to go with this? (interruption) Well, let\u2019s do it. Ladies and gentlemen, we offer you Born Free. It\u2019s our Animal Rights Update theme. (song swells to crescendo) We\u2019ll do this in honor of Andy Williams. The people that own this song refused to let us play it after awhile, but Andy Williams always said he had no problem with it.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s Born Free from the Grooveyard of Forgotten Favorites, our Animal Rights Update theme from the archives as performed by Andy Williams. He was very conservative, Andy Williams. I\u2019ll give you a quote from Andy Williams in 2009. He said, “Obama is following Marxist theory.” He said this to a British magazine called the Radio Times. He said, “Obama is following Marxist theory. He\u2019s taken over the banks and the car industry.<\/p>\n
“He wants the country to fail.”<\/p>\n
That was Andy Williams in 2009. I don\u2019t know off the top of my head who owns the copyright or whatever it is to Born Free, but they said after a while, “You don\u2019t have permission to play that. Even without blowing up the jungle, you don\u2019t have permission to play that.” (laughing) But Andy Williams always said he had no problem with it. He was honored. He was honored. And he did. He passed away.<\/p>\n
