And Pelosi loves to tell you that your unemployment check is actually creating economic growth. What\u2019s her ratio? Every $1 of unemployment benefits equals $1.73 in economic growth. For these four years they have extolled the virtues of unemployment. They have promised as much as you need, 99 weeks — and they blamed it all on Bush, and they\u2019ve talked about how caring it is and how wonderful it is. And they have told you that if you need more, it will be forthcoming, because Barack cares.<\/p>\n
Where was all the adulation for the things they love?<\/p>\n
Where was all the attempt to take credit for the great things they think they\u2019ve done?<\/p>\n
No, we didn\u2019t get that. As an example of what we got, here is Julian Castro — who I\u2019m told, by the way, doesn\u2019t even speak Spanish. Not that it matters. But this is the guy, Julian Castro… I don\u2019t know if I should say this or not. (sigh) The Democrats are allowed to make comments based on the way people look. The Democrats, in fact, live off of what your appearance is: your race, your religion, your sexual orientation.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s how they identify you. That\u2019s how they categorize you. I don\u2019t know. Okay. Anyway, here\u2019s Julian Castro. He\u2019s the Barack Obama of 2004. This is the guy they\u2019ve got high hopes could be the next Obama. He was last night\u2019s keynote speaker. He\u2019s the mayor of San Antonio. He\u2019s the future of the party. That\u2019s just who he is. He didn\u2019t talk about 99 weeks unemployment and how great it is, or about all these other government-provided benefits. No, no.<\/p>\n
CASTRO: Now in Texas —<\/p>\n
CROWD: (cheering)<\/p>\n
CASTRO: — we believe in the rugged individual.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Stop the tape. Yep, they do! But the Democrats don\u2019t. Texas is not a Democrat state. San Antonio may be a Democrat town. Cue that back to the top, Mr. Broadcast Engineer Substitute. “[W]e believe in the rugged individual”? No, you don\u2019t believe in rugged individuals. No, the party does not. Here it goes. I\u2019ll let to try the whole thing go…<\/p>\n
CASTRO: Texas may be the one place where people actually still have bootstraps, and we expect folks to pull themselves up by them. But we also recognize that there\u2019s some things we can\u2019t do alone. We have to come together and invest in opportunity today for prosperity tomorrow. <\/p>\n
RUSH: Your prosperity is nothing to do with you. You only are going to have prosperity if everybody comes together and invests, as in pays higher taxes. But what is this, “We believe in the rugged individual. We expect folks to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.” The hell you say. When did that happen? Who knew this?
