RUSH: Barack Obama yesterday, Ames, Iowa. By the way, speaking of that, Obama can\u2019t get out of Iowa. Folks, I am here to tell you they are in real trouble. Obama was up ten. Now he\u2019s up two. The people at Public Policy Polling are worried. They say that it may come down to wind energy — I kid you not — as an issue to save Obama. Here we got time. Here\u2019s what he said in Ames yesterday.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Governor Romney promised that sometime between takin\u2019 the oath of office and going to the inaugural ball, he\u2019d sit right down, grab a pen, and kick seven million young people off their parents\u2019 plan by repealing health reform. Day one, that\u2019s what he says he\u2019s gonna do.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

FOLLOWERS: (grumbling)<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Maybe we should call his plan, “Romney Doesn\u2019t Care.”<\/p>\n

FOLLOWERS: (smattering of laughter)<\/p>\n

OBAMA: ‘Cause I do care!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, see?<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I do care.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right, “Romney Doesn\u2019t Care.” Obama can talk about Romney any way, any time he wants. “Romney Doesn\u2019t Care! He\u2019ll kick people off of health care. They\u2019re gonna have any health care, but I care!” We don\u2019t mention his name, folks. We just don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: What would your reaction be if you heard that David Axelrod and David Plouffe and Barack Obama told speakers at the Democrat convention, “You will not mention the name Romney. You will not mention the name Paul Ryan. You will not mention Akin. You will not mention Limbaugh.” What would you think if that edict went out? Well, it would never happen, of course, obviously. What, am I dreaming?<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Mike in Hanson, Massachusetts. Great to have you on the program, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush, it\u2019s a true honor to speak to you from a real liberal cesspool up here where our last three Speakers in the House were all convicted of felonies.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thanks. (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, my plan is this, is that you\u2019re always saying that the conservative party right now isn\u2019t as conservative as it can be, but Scott Brown\u2019s having a lot of success up here. He\u2019s gonna win this race in Massachusetts, and in my travels I\u2019m meeting elderly Democrats who want anybody but Obama right now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Really?<\/p>\n

CALLER: And the number-one reason is they don\u2019t believe he\u2019s patriotic, and I think Obama\u2019s missing that part of this. The elderly people aren\u2019t gonna buy —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — Medicare this time around — (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

RUSH: I want to make sure I heard you right. You\u2019re traveling around, you\u2019re meeting elderly Democrats who want anybody but Obama because they don\u2019t believe he\u2019s patriotic?<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: That\u2019s the number-one reason when I talk to \u2019em. I put up a Brown sign and I ask them who\u2019s gonna be the next president, and the large majority say it has to be anybody but Obama. They just don\u2019t believe what this guy\u2019s doing to our country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, doesn\u2019t surprise me. If you look at polling data of elderly people, seasoned citizens, they like Paul Ryan. His numbers are really great with the elderly, the people he\u2019s supposedly going to throw overboard, throw off of the cliff. Well, Mike, I\u2019m glad you called. Thanks very much. I appreciate it. <\/line>Here\u2019s that Iowa story. “Obama Lead Collapses: Iowa Tied.” It\u2019s from Breitbart, John Nolte. “For in-depth polling analysis, I defer to my colleague Mike Flynn. This latest poll out of Iowa, however, is noteworthy because what you have is the same pollster using the same polling methods and finding Obama\u2019s standing in that crucial swing<\/a> state collapsing fast. Just a few months ago, back in May, according to Democratic pollster Public Policy Polling, President Obama held a commanding 51-41% lead over Mitt Romney. … Two months later, though, in July, Obama\u2019s lead fell in the PPP poll to just five points, 48-43%.<\/line><\/p>\n

“Today, one month later, both men are statistically tied with Obama besting Romney by only two points, 47-45%. Just a couple of weeks ago, Rasmussen released a poll showing Romney up 2 in Iowa.” And they can\u2019t get rid of Obama in Iowa.
