RUSH: Donna in Frederick, Maryland, thank you for calling. Great to have you here on the EIB Network. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. It\u2019s a privilege. Congrats on your award this week<\/a>, and I have to humor you. When I tuned in earlier, I actually thought I was hearing Bill Clinton\u2019s<\/a> voice. You\u2019ve perfected it quite a bit there, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I appreciate that. Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But the reason why I\u2019m calling is there\u2019s been a lot in the media lately where they\u2019re concerned about what\u2019s going to happen with Joe the burden — I mean Joe Biden, our vice president, as far as the upcoming elections. So I was curious about your take on the possible shake down, so to speak.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Tell you what. Since you called, I\u2019ve got a couple Biden sound bites that just rolled in here. I want to play those sound bites and then I\u2019ll tell you some of the things I think could happen in terms of a rabbit being pulled out of a hat. Here is Biden. He\u2019s in Youngstown, Ohio, this afternoon at a campaign event.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

BIDEN: Things really are starting to come back. There are signs of life and hope in the Heartland. Jobs are starting to come back. And the ones that are coming back are the kind of jobs you can build a middle class family on. They\u2019re manufacturing jobs, decent paying jobs so you can live in a safe neighborhood, own your home, not rent your home. If the kid wants to, be able to send your kid to college, or send \u2019em to trade school.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. He might be talking about Wisconsin. Now, he\u2019s in Youngstown, Ohio, but he might be talking about Wisconsin, where, you know what? Jobs are being created. Jobs are being created in Wisconsin because of Governor Scott Walker, because of some of the policies at the state level. But overall, this is bunk. I have a lot of charts. Jim Pethokoukis<\/a>, our buddy at American Enterprise Institute, heard that Biden said this, and he\u2019s a think tank guy, so he went to his tank and he started thinking. And he produced a bunch of charts… And to try to describe a chart is impossible, but the charts simply confirm everything you know. <\/p>\n

Jobs are not coming back. Everything he said in this bite is nothing more than a dream. It\u2019s smoke and mirrors. But he\u2019s out there screaming on the campaign trail, “Republicans don\u2019t get us. Jobs are coming back! Middle class, gonna be able to send your kid to college.” Everybody knows this is bunk. They\u2019re desperate. Biden\u2019s being sent out there, and he\u2019s on his own. They\u2019re simply trying to create an alternative universe where they want you to think everything for everybody else is happening and you\u2019re next. It\u2019s going great guns. It may not be happening for you, but where are we today in Youngstown, Ohio, boy, it\u2019s really coming back. Things are hot to trot. It\u2019s gonna get better. You\u2019re going to be able to get a manufacturing job, support your family of four, send your kid to college. It\u2019s happening. It\u2019s happening. And you\u2019re supposed to sit there and say, “Wow, cool, all right. Finally.” You don\u2019t see any evidence of it, but he\u2019s the vice president, he\u2019s saying it. So the game is you\u2019re supposed to believe it and think it\u2019s happening for others and may be right around the corner for you. One more sound bite from Biden.<\/p>\n

BIDEN: I resent when they talk about families like mine that I grew up in. I resent the fact that they think we\u2019re talking about envy, it\u2019s job envy, it\u2019s wealth envy, that we don\u2019t dream. My mother believed and my father believed that if I wanted to be president of the United States, I could be, I could vice president. My mother and father believed that if my brother or sister wanted to be a millionaire, they could be a millionaire. My mother and father dreamed as much as any rich guy dreams. They don\u2019t get us. They don\u2019t get who we are.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then why is your administration so against millionaires? Why is your administration trying to target and punish them? Why is your administration blaming them for everything that\u2019s gone wrong, Mr. Vice President? Why is your administration single-handedly doing everything they can to discourage people from becoming millionaires, because they\u2019re bad people? You guys don\u2019t inspire people to be the best they can be. Mr. Vice President, with all respect, sir, your party tells people how impossible it is for them in this country because the deck is stacked against them. There\u2019s either discrimination or there\u2019s racism or there\u2019s sexism or there\u2019s bigotry, or the rich are taking all the money, or Bush spent all the money or whatever. The last thing you do in the Democrat Party is inspire people. And you do try to kill people\u2019s dreams. <\/p>\n

You\u2019re trying to convince people the only route they\u2019ve got to any kind of happiness is through government. A government program for that, for this. This is just ridiculous. But now what could they do? What rabbit could they pull out? Well, a couple of them, as I\u2019ve mentioned, Obama sometime this summer, October, could decide to forgive all student loans in an effort to get the youth vote. He can do that. He could propose it. It doesn\u2019t have to happen. He can say he wants it, just like he said he hopes one day that same-sex people can get married. People open up their checkbooks to him. He didn\u2019t make one bit of difference in the whole issue<\/a>, but he said something. He could say he wants to forgive people\u2019s mortgages, come up with a program that pays everybody\u2019s mortgages who is underwater. He\u2019s president. He can do these things. He can propose them, even if they don\u2019t happen immediately. He can try to convince people that that\u2019s what he\u2019s gonna do if he\u2019s reelected. That that\u2019s what he\u2019s gonna do now. <\/p>\n

Romney can\u2019t say anything like that. The question, if it continues this way for Obama, and if they keep floundering, a proposal like that, my thinking is, would not have broad based appeal because it would be such a reach. It would be so obvious what it is. They could replace Biden on the ticket with somebody. Could invade Iran. Could tell the Israelis to stand aside. There\u2019s any number of things in the incumbent playbook that you can do at the last moment. Could come up with some dastardly deed that Romney\u2019s been involved in, but they\u2019ll probably have exposed all those by that time.<\/p>\n

The labor force participation rate, pay special attention to the decline. That chart is devastating, to show you the number of people no longer in the workforce in this country.
